Showdown at Herr Dugans

As the party enters the foundry, a faint female scream is heard from upstairs. Across the room you hear Stella speaking, "Now we just wait for them to show up. Shouldn't be much longer Herr Dugan." As you are about to announce your presence and voice your concerns over the scream, you hear a gong from upstairs.  Simultaneously, Bohrhorgen is yelling from the room Stella is in.

"Alarm alarm, the undead are here. To arms!"
There is  cacophony of sound from a shield being beaten on by a war axe that accompanies the warning.

Showdown at Herr Dugans

Bohrhorgen appears at the entrance to the shrine in the southwest corner of the foundry room, beating on his shield with an axe. A Gearforged of Dwarven make behind him. Flak, the large Lizardman, stops at the door of the shrine. He is watching something in the shrine room.

Bohrhorgen continues toward you, still beating on his shield.

Kiara freezes for a moment, she waits for Bohrhorgen to draw near, then she starts up the stairs just ahead of him. Weapons drawn. "What kind of undead are we up against?"

Herr Dugan appears at the door to the shrine and starts walking towards the stairs, "Very likely there are intangible undead in the kitchen, you're much faster than I, please eliminate any threats to the building."

Showdown at Herr Dugans

Nic, still disguised as Kiara, wanders just opposite the hallway next to the smelting bin (?)
U-18 and puts his/her back to the door. Facing Stella and the rest of the party, he/she bows his/her head, sword point into the the ground and hand flexing around the hilt inside the pommel, and mutters some words barely audible.

I cast mage armor on myself then stealth away into the darkness of the ungrounded area where I can watch Nik so if silence or that flying bee pops up I can help with those.

Showdown at Herr Dugans

The horde of undead has dispersed after the defeat of the Ghoul/Bard. You hear footsteps retreating on the stairs to the second floor. A moment later, Torin appears at the stairs leading down to the foundry. He nods to Herr Dugan, indicating that all is well in the basement. Dugan begins a tour of the area to assess the loss of life and damage to property. A quick tally shows two Dwarves have died, both journeymen manning the batista on the roof. Dugan thanks Mantle for his bravery and quick actions that saved so many lives, particularly the web on the front door and calling the retreat from the roof once the ghosts started flying. He thanks each and every party member for their contributions and calls for quick action on laying the 2 dwarves to rest, preferably before dawn. Two kobolds approach the building and you recognize Gnip and Gnop, the pair that helped with the rats earlier. They converse quietly with Dugan and leave quickly. The Lizardmen come back up to the ground floor Flak looks a bit worse for wear which Stella quickly alleviates. They are fairly quiet unless approached. Dwarves are set to guard the different floors again, just in case the undead return, and then Dugan assigns the foundry workers to fire up the foundry and continue on their special project. The local watch finally appears and Dugan steps outside to speak to them. Apparently they were drawn away on a false call, which may or may not be true. The total damage is much less than it might have been and several times you are all slapped on the back by the Dwarven inhabitants. The apparent thought is that without your presence, the attack would have been more costly. Nothing about the reason for the attack is laid at your feet.

OOC: I will edit and add to this post in the near future.

Showdown at Herr Dugans

Nic shadows Dugan's presence, paying heed to what is discussed, while assessing the aftermath of the assault as well. He's more quiet than usual, and keeps a keen eye on Kiara. Upon seeing Gnip and Gnop, he nods his head in recognition of their presence and gives a subtle wave as they disembark elsewhere. He later gathers what information he can about the 2 fallen dwarves and prepares a couple of brief odes to their honor in life and how they valiantly died defending their kin, to be read by their priests if found acceptable.

I wonder if holing up here for a time until we are ready to leave this city might not be a bad idea. I would deem it safer here to say the least. Time to pool some resources, recover some resources, and plan for a long haul elsewhere. Then again, perhaps meeting with Tymon might not be a bad idea during such time as well. After all, we just handled a pressing issue for his network of associates I'm sure. Damn, then there's the business with the "Painted Man" too. Gotta tie up a few things and then be on our merry, as discretely as possible of course.
