The 2 hour nap goes by uneventfully. Spellcasters can change out their spells. Stella comments before you do. "I consulted my Goddess: Beset from beside, and below, the path is long prepare to go low."

Go low like what were going to have to crawl hehe or are you just meaning underground!? I hate the underground well the deep underground. It always makes me feel like I'm going to get buried alive!! Not a fan! But of course it's the path ahead so let's push forth. Cause once it's done maybe we can get those griffins I keep hearing about!!🙂

As for shopping list I'd like a couple healing potions and a couple things of alchemist fire!😁
Oh and my wands fully charged up!! Just saying!😁

Well depending on how we break it up. I'm going by the fact there is 8 of us in the party
Wade-Mantle
Tim-Nic
Karina-Kiara
Dusty-Rowan
Mike-Boherhagen
NPC-Stella
NPC-Big Lizard Dude
NPC-Little Lizard Dude
This for each of us
10pp
150gp
200sp

Party Treasure would gain or get the following
9pp
47gp
293sp
65cp

There was also the following items
Pair of Gloves
2 Rust Bombs
Rat Belt
Vine Belt
No idea where these went though.

This is also taking I to account we get the 50gp per the 17 Bloodstones (850gp)

Katrusa, the Skink Priest whom is the only lizardman who has spoken, (Flak, the big one,is completely silent), speaks, “there will come a time when we will ask for our share, the Gods have set us on this path, for it will bring us to that which we seek, a holy tablet.”

Stella also chimes in,”I haven’t thanked you for releasing me from the Kobold prison. I made an order while we were hiding, we should be able to pick up Handy Haversacks for all of us on our way through town. When you don’t know what to give somebody. Also, I’m not interested in taking a share of the current treasure, perhaps in the future we will share our fortune.”

"I'm sure that Borhorgen's uncle and his kin would appreciate the tapestry and keg we've come across. Best to remove those little troublesome baubles from the tapestry first though. Perhaps Kiara would help me with that so as to not have a repeat of history. Get it? Repeat of history? Historical tapestry? ... Nobody? Sheesh, tough crowd."

Nic pauses for a moment, seemingly in contemplation, then suggests "Perhaps we do need to pay the market one last visit before we make way. If we are to be venturing below ground to procure an arrangement with Borhorgen's kin, in which I believe Stella should spearhead some of those negotiations, then perhaps we might be able to outfit ourselves with some of their craftsmanship with regard to some of the finer elements of protection or the likes of offensive means. The market, however, should be able to provide us with some essentials and maybe some curative commodities."

I have a few things I'd like to acquire at some point, and have been saving back some cash for a time. I'd really like to obtain a bow. We need someone with ranged attacks that aren't just spells. I also need to upgrade my A.C. one of these days, but that'll probably be later on via some sort of magical means.

Remember, I do also have a Heyward's.

I also own, outright, 1 scroll of comprehend languages, Clockwork Spider Cloak, 2 potions of healing, 2 sunrods, 1 thunderstone, and 1 flask of alchemist fire.

I personally have 28gp, 5sp, and 4cp prior to our recent treasure hauls, so anything additional has not been added to my personal inventory.

FOR THE RECORD I HAD THE FOLLOWING COLLECTED TREASURE WRITTEN DOWN:

464 GPS
3,044 SPS
303 CPS

I had nothing written down for Platinum so, that's a huge score according to Mantle if we indeed had some of that. I believe he had 10 pp written down. Then there was whatever items we acquired from the kobold lair and down here in the gutters. This is pretty much what I've recorded so far, plus the belts and what-not that Mantle listed earlier.

DWARVEN TAPESTRY
BRASS GONG
MASTERWORK CHAINMAIL - MAY ALREADY HAVE BEEN DISTRIBUTED

Bohrhorgens total sounds much closer. When I tried to consolidate the weight of coins by reducing everything to a tenth, he caught it and returned it to its full value. Go with that total for each of you, plus a 5 way split on the recent find in the rat kings lair. Is Karina going to post? Maybe you can help her with spelling Tim? Lol.

Tim, I believe you had spent some money on items already? Not sure, do your best guys, keeping it straight.

Is anyone having problems with insert a private line in the lower right corner of the options? Try secret message, it’s in the menu after you hit Private line, you just have to scroll down a little further fo see it.

While in the protected room, Nic and Kiara will work on removing the remaining spore baubles from the tapestry. Nic informs Kiara, "We might put such devices to similar use later on when we have a more... secure place of residence. I'd like to add something to the previous ruse that befell me when trying to remove the tapestry, should we get the chance."

Once this has been accomplished, and the tapestry secured for transport, Nic pulls out some parchment and a quillon. "I believe we have some plans to make here. First of all, we need to decide on how much time we're going to spend, and where, before heading out to the infamous Uncle Dugan's estate. Second of all, will we all be doing this shopping together or separately? Third of, oh hell... lets just get it out there. Who's doing what, when, and how quickly and efficiently can we get it done?"

The group confers briefly, making up a list of items. The total is staggering. Money is passed over and a list is drawn up, Nic names a place where he will meet his contact after sending one of the street rats to contact him. Nic talks to Flak ( the large Lizardman), about accompanying his contact in his acquisition run, to “help with carrying the heavy bundles”. But everyone realizes it’s to keep his man honest.

Bohrhorgen approaches the door again, envisioning the sewer where you chased the rat ogre. The door is opened and indeed, you see the sewer in front of you. Katrusa, the small Lizardman, has elected to stay back and guard the new smugglers den.

You file out, to the right down the stretch, take a right then a left, climb up the ladder and you’re in the alley. It’s only been 3 hours, but it feels much longer, yet the normal day to day activities continue around you. A wagon full of manure passes in front of the alley entrance, you hear a vendor yelling in the distance, “melons, get your melons here.” 3 blocks away is a market, there are also several taverns nearby. The time of day is approximately 2 pm. Dugans place is on the other end of town, perhaps an hour away at this time of day. Nic sees a young messenger boy walking past the alley entrance, steps out and gets his attention. They speak for a moment, Nic passes a note and a coin to the boy who then hurries off.

Bohrhorgen and Flak have managed to lug the keg out onto the alley, but neither look forward to carrying it halfway across town. Drops of condensation are forming on the cask. The dwarf looks around, then walks down the street where he finds a porter unloading a wagon of hay at a local stable. A few moments of haggling, and the porter brings the wagon to the alley, a small amount of hay left in it. Loaded and covered with hay, the cask is sent to Dugans.

I could ride along in the wagon under the hay to make sure no one tries to steal it!! if they try I could burn them down!! Just staying.....

As we watch the Wagon roll off i stroll over to my sister and bump into her and ask "So you ready to let me in on these secrets your keeping from me yet??" "Or you just going to keep me in the dark a little longer?"

You start walking toward the gear district. The bustle of the city is calming and familiar to some, quite the opposite for others. Kiara, you keep getting a chill down your back and the hairs on your neck are continuously raised. You can’t point out why, but you’re sure you’re being followed. You glance around constantly, but all you see are the normal day to day activities of the city. Once, a group of 5 nobles ride down the street and the people stand out of the way to let them pass. You swear you see a form a block ahead with their hood pulled up that gives you chills, but as your path is blocked, he is gone.

Nic breaks the silence after 15 minutes of slowly moving through the busy city. “The Blue Nymph tavern is just ahead, my contact should meet us there. Shall we stop for an ale and food?”

The Blue Nymph appears as you turn a corner, halfway down the street from a busy intersection. Known for its discretion, warm ale, and cold women. Not a place for common drinking, a place for business.
As you enter the bar, you take a moment to let your eyes adjust to the dark interior. Alcoves line the walls of the establishment, curtains pulled across two on the opposite side. The bar to the right has a single, bald, muscular man, cleaning a glass with a rag. He appears disinterested at best. An older woman, obviously a worn out waitress, points tiredly at two alcoves to the left. “What’ll it be? Even her voice sounds tired. She shuffles towards the bar, half listening for your order as she moves.

Stella sends a boy to retrieve food for the group, not trusting the fare offered here.

Something more?" In a tone under his breath, he continues to inform the group, "I don't plan to dither for too long, but wanted you all to be aware of my suggested destination for future transactions. Flak settles in next to Nic, you all realize just how Big Flak is. Wearing a dinosaur skull helmet, bone Armour and an oversized halberd, you realize he may be the best guardian of the vast majority of the wealth you possess. Mantle sits across from Nic. Bohrhorgen, Rowan, and Kiara all occupy the next booth. “A pitcher of your finest ale for each table.” Mantle commands, “and keep them coming as they empty.”

The group settles in for some drinking, a past time that feels both familiar and surreal, given the life and death struggles they have recently engaged in. Realizing every moment of life is worth experiencing to the full, in light of how easily it may end, the group manages to enjoy the warmish ale. Food arrives, large cuts off brisket and warm bread, filling the void that battling for your life creates.

As you eat and drink, in the shadowy tavern, you start as you realize, the spot in the booth is occupied! A dwarf sits across the table from Nic. “It is good to see you again, Nicrune.” Hustle says, his voice quiet, almost a whisper. “I understand you have an extensive list and little time.” He smiles, a knowing smile. “These conditions, they do not  contribute to lower prices, nay?” He chuckles, “time is money, after all. You have a list, and the appropriate payment?”

When we are done here, I feel we should make haste to continue on with ... the rest of the days' priorities."

Redirecting his attention to Hustle, "Thank you for arriving under such short notice. I do have the appropriations for our business, and more by means of incentive when you return for a job well done if up to the task. I like to keep my allies gainfully interested in utilizing a beneficial friendship." Nic shuffles something under the table with his foot, and nudging Flak's scaled foot in the process.  Nic proffers a wistful smile, tilting his head and continues "As I defer to your judgment as a procurer of services, might you be able to give me a timeline so as I may make reservations for our next meeting to conclude this particular endeavor? Flak has agreed to do some heavy lifting, as I'm sure your hands may be full to some degree."

Nic takes a swill from his tankard, polishing it off, and places it on the table and slides it in Hustle's direction to be refilled. "Another round sir?" Glancing again to Mantle, then shaking his head. "Maybe just the one refill. Wheatstone Sheath Mantle? Tell me more of this place when we're done here perhaps?"

"Splendid news my bearded friend. We shall see you on the morrow. What do you like for your breakfast? I'll have something prepared for your efforts." Nic raises his tankard and takes a large, finisher drink, and sets his tankard down in finality.

On to see Uncle Dugan!

Glaring with disappointment into his mug, Bohrhorgen places it on the table and looks back and forth from Kiara to Mantle.
"To answer your question about uncle Dugan, he does have a sense of humor, but not typical of a dwarf.  We are both called eccentric by our kin, but in his case it is the type of eccentric that would be called mad if not for his genius craftsmanship."
"He is a respected leader of the Dwarves of Zobeck, most of whom are atypical Dwarves, choosing to live outside of dwarven society and coming here to make their fortune selling their craftsmanship to the other races.  Some have come for freedom: freedom from the rigid clan structures, freedom from slavery, freedom to worship gods not accepted in the cantons, even freedom from the old laws and traditions: the women are not cloistered here and even unmarried dwarves have equal rights."
"I did not fit in within the cantons. I do not have the "reaver's temperament".  While my people look down and dream about what is there for them, I always looked up. As a beardling I would stare at the sky, memorizing stars. I knew there was something I needed that could not be found in the cantons."
"I came to Zobeck and Uncle Dugan took me in. I think we're so much alike we grew close very quickly.  Not long after that I met Nic. My first friend who was not a dwarf.  I think that was my problem with reaving, even though you lot are not dwarves, I still think of you as people."
"Nic told me something, a secret few know: ships that do not just sail through the sky, but beyond it. I know that is what has been missing, that's what I need.  I will do what I have to be on one of those ships."
"Hmm, this weak drink seems to have made me chatty..."

Nodding in understanding at the wanderlust, Kiara looks at Bohrhoran trying to figure out how one small mug of ale has brought him into a chatty mood. "Once we get on to Uncle Dugan, we can carry on. I think sailing in the stars sounds a welcome trip at the moment....yet so far away" Sighing into her empty mug she indicates she is ready to get going again.

Hustle nods to Flak. “Shall we depart? We have a full night ahead of us.” He rises, gives a small bow towards one and all, then addresses Nic. “Boiled eggs and ale, if you please.” He heads towards the door, Flak rises and follows him. They turn right outside the tavern, disappearing deeper into the markets of Zobeck.

As you finish your drinks and your conversation, the beer wench approaches. “That’ll be 8 silver milord.” Nic chokes a little, 8 silver should pay for a nights drinking for the group, not 2 warm pitchers!

After paying, you head for the door, turning left back towards the intersection into the bustle of the city.

Nic grudgingly digs for the 8 silver and hands it to the bar wench, "No point in asking you to keep things warm for me now is there?" he says, and gives her a wink with a comforting clasp around her wrist during the exchange in payment.  "Thank you for your making this meeting here pleasant one."

Upon conducting business, Nic gathers the rest of his belongings casually, yet casts an observant glance and takes into account all who remains in the establishment, those who he does not remember upon coming in, and those who have left since, and joins the rest of the group.

As we stroll through the market I notice a table of baubles and trinkets up ahead so I stroll up to Kiara and try to (without getting stabbed) grab her by the hand and lead her towards the table. Telling the rest to keep going we'll only be just a moment and we'll catch up!!
As I pull her towards the table pull up a pair of gaudy earrings and hold them up to her ears. Saying "I was by this table the other day and saw these and just saw these earrings that I thought would just look amazing on a lovely woman with your fair skin!!😁

As she looks at me like I'm crazy because of the earrings I hold up I see rather quickly I was wrong. Say "I'm sorry my bad I’m just trying to help!! Thanks for at least stopping!!"

On to see Uncle Dugan!

The market stalls and open air sellers are thinning out the further you move towards the gear district. Cloth roofing on wooden poles are being replaced by stone buildings, 2 story or higher. The sound of hammers ring in the distance mixed with the smell of hot metal. The gaudy, bright colors give way to more somber tones. People are better dressed, and body guards are more numerous. Wagons of foodstuffs are replaced by wagons of coal and ingots of iron. The sun is also getting closer to the horizon and people are picking up and thinning out. Forges are being fired up, as the gear district runs at night. Dwarven smiths and kobold helpers are making their way through the streets to start their nights work, the gears of Rava grinding on through til dawn.

Mantle pulls Kiara aside to a stall selling cheap jewelry as Rowan scans the heavens, apparently marking the passage of the sun.

Mantle shakes his head to the jewelry hawker and Kiara moves back to the front of the group.

You are at the edge of the open air market, entering the gear district. Buildings 2 to 4 stories tall are the norm here. Some buildings are set back with forges open to the street in front. Normally the forges have 8ft ceilings, enough to keep the rain off but also let the heat and smoke out of the forge.
Two gearforged walk past you, communicating in a strange language only gearforged generally know. A common enough sight in the gear district as Zobeck is world famous for its clockwork capabilities. A third gearforged walks towards you, the first two stop and stare at it as it passes them.

As Stella and Kiara vanish, a stillness comes over the scene. You get a good look at Silence, his rapier is an extension of his arm, some sort of projectile mechanism is integrated into his other arm. His wounds from the magic missiles heal up completely as you watch. He looks at each of you, his single eye memorizing each face. He raises his off hand and fires 4 times at 4 different points around him. Smoke billows from each impact, quickly obscuring the area, including where each of you stand. He steps backward and is gone.

As you retreat blindly back the way you came, 20 feet back you exit the smoke cloud. A web still stretches across the road up 20 ft. A small object is flying up and towards the roof on the right, as if seeking cover. People nearby are just now turning to look towards your location. A Smoky area in the gears district isn’t that memorable, but a web hanging between walls is.

State your intent, run, retreat orderly, observe, I don’t want to assume.

As you quickly walk away from the smoky cloud, you see Bee disappear over the rooftop. The last thing you see as you turn the corner is Silence climbing the wall, faster than a man can walk. You follow Bohrhorgen to the covered forge area, keeping an eye to the sky, and pick your way carefully through the maze. Forges are being fired up, apprentices stoking coal, laying ingots in the fire, setting out tools, while masters peruse documents and discuss with journeymen the nights tasks.
The night falls fully, as you are about to leave the forge area, A carriage pulls up to you, a black scaled kobold driving. “Need a ride? Blackscales the name, I’ll take you where you need to go.”

True to his word, Blackscale takes you to your destination without delay, "That will be a silver my good sirs. If ever you need a ride, don't forget, Blackscale." His one horse carriage plods off, leaving you in front of a large, 2 story building with 3 forges in front, all of which are stoked. A dwarf stands in front of each, leather aprons covered with burn marks. A kobold attends each forge as well, running bellows, placing ingots, filling quenching troughs.  You pass by the forges and up the steps to the large, thick oaken door with iron banding. A stylized knocker of a Bulls head with an iron ring in its nose placed at dwarf height. The windows of the building are large and glass covered, with iron bars preventing access. The building looks solid and well built, in typical dwarven fashion.

"You can see here, lord Mantle, my Uncle's apprentices working, these forges run day and night.  Dwarven industry at work.  You can see the skills of the apprentices, which really speaks to the abilities of the master himself.  It is not just the superior craftsmanship," Bohrhorgen watches the burly dwarf at the center forge, "but the superior materials that make these worked goods the best in the gear district, thus in the whole city or region."

Bohrhorgen leans in and puts his arm around Mantle's shoulder and in a hushed conspiratorial tone murmurs "You can see Meister Sternhammer, one of my uncle's most accomplished apprentices working with adamantine, they have secret techniques for using any number of rare and superior materials.  With the blessings of the priests of Rava, any number of great works and exotic devices can be crafted."

"So, before we meet the Grandmeister himself, can someone explain to me where Lady Stella spirited Kiara off to?  There was some sort of magic, you lot all know more than I do about that.  It seems that negotiations without the buyer will not work very well, unless you are authorized to negotiate for her backers Lord Mantle?"

On to see Uncle Dugan!

Once inside, Nic steps in front of Mantle and Bohrhorgen and turns to them, shielding himself from the sight of others in the room, "Forgive my being short with an answer outside. I'm not sure of our comrades and their fate, but I've surmised that Stella is fairly capable in getting out of rough situations for the most part. I did not want to alert anyone on the streets or corners that we've been separated, nor give up our position to those that might seem to do us harm, given our prior circumstances in the street with that... thing. "

Nic looks down at his feet for a moment, and back up to Bohrhorgen, a pained expression crossing his face. "I do hope that making our way here without our friends, instead of pursuing that creature, is not an effort made in vain. I encourage expedience in this matter, and shall leave the flowery wording to you. May Rava bless you with fortune."

On to see Uncle Dugan!

Bohrhorgen knocks on the door, three booming thuds reverberate through the thick wood. A moment later an older dwarf with a long white beard opens the door, slowly swinging open due to its heavy mass.  He walks with a limp and has a perpetual frown on his face. In a querulous tone he addresses Bohrhorgen. “Well there you are finally, took you long enough to get here. Your uncles waiting, bring your... associates with you. And stomp your boots before you come inside!  He turns and walks deeper inside, grumbling about young people nowadays, lack of sense or skill, always in to trouble. The interior is plush, much nicer than the austere exterior would imply. Dark wood paneling with veined marble floors, arching entry’s and scrollwork on the trim give the impression of tasteful luxury and wealth. “This way, this way.” The grouchy dwarf leads you down the main hallway, doorways on either side, to the last door on the right. A female Dwarven servant comes through the door, carrying a large silver platter with the remnants of smoked sausages and cheese.

Torin just scowls a little harder, he harumphs a little and walks back the way you all just came.

“Come in lad! Come in!” The voice is deep but smooth, a definite burr in the pronunciations. As you enter the room, you see it is a study, or an office. A large mahogany desk dominates the back half of the room, bookshelves on both side walls, leather bound tomes adorning the shelves. A tapestry hangs behind the desk, a Dwarven Forge on one half, three gears interconnected on the other half. (The religious symbols for Valund, the Smith, and Rava, the Gear Goddess.) A round table four feet in diameter is in the front half, chairs strewn about it.
A large burly dwarf with rosy cheeks stands at the table, facing the door with a large grin on his face. A large silver stein in his hand with froth spilling over the side.“Horgen! It’s good to see you lad!

"And you, good uncle!"  Bohrhorgen shuffles over to embrace Dugan, pausing a few steps short to sniff at his mug "Did you receive our gift then?"
With a flourish, he waves at the party: "some introductions: you may remember my stories about the scoundrel Nic, this tall drink of water that you get a racial plus one bonus to hit is Rowan, and my newest acquaintance, who is most certainly not a Gnome, is Mantle.  This, gentlebeings, is Herr Dugan Kegdrainer, grandmeister smith, honored elder of my line and all around upstanding Dwarf."

"I have quite a story for you old man,one that will certainly dry my throat.  What do you have to drink around this dungeon?"

Bohrhorgen will launch into a tale of camaraderie, adventure and steel on steel, leaving no detail out and with special emphasis on the hall the rat king was found in and the lore so far discovered and recalled about the tapestry, keg and their historical significance.  The meeting with Tymon and threat from the ghoul empire will need to be explained.  Perhaps he recognizes a description of our assailants from earlier as well?

On to see Uncle Dugan!

As Bohrhorgen mentions drink, the serving lady enters carrying 4 large silver mugs full of amber liquid. She hands one to each of you and leaves the room. As you try the ale, it’s just like a dwarf, strong and bitter, with earthy undertones.

After listening attentively to Bohrhorgens accounting of previous exploits, Dugan nods his understanding. “Your two friends were just here and left rather than risk meeting Silence. Yes, I know about the clockwork killer. I helped create it as an apprentice. Thank you for the Blackaxe Stout, it’s been decades since I’ve tasted this particular ale, most wonderful my boy. Dugan beams at Bohrhorgen, you can see he is truly proud of his nephew.

Nic quietly remains attentive to the revelry and conversation amidst the dwarves. He takes a celebratory swig of the ale upon each instance of joy and heroism that is emphasized in the story telling. I've always found family bonding and the sharing of stories to be an extraordinary transferrence of emotion and sharing of fellowship. It far supersedes that of any tale spun in a tavern.

Dugan waves expansively, “In my younger days, I’d be strapping on me armor and setting out with you to lay low this undead menace. “   His expression turns regretful as he continues. “Now I’m old and fear I would just slow you down. But I do have a way to be useful.” He steps over to the tapestry and pulls a tasseled rope you hadn’t noticed before. “I have the perfect accoutrements for this fine ale you’ve brought me Horgan.” Dugan has already finished the ale and looks pointedly at anyone who hasn’t finished theirs yet. “In the house of Kegdrainer, we live by our name.” As he speaks, another round of ale is brought in, also a platter with smoked sausage, cheeses, and bread, much like the empty tray you saw removed as you arrived. “Now, let me do what little I can to help ensure my nephews safe return.”

On to see Uncle Dugan!

As Bohrhorg pulls me in and points to Meister Sterhammer I feel myself trying to step forward like I have to get a little closer to this burly dwarf.  Mantle looks over and says
“Bohrhorg the forges are amazing!! When are they going to make me some new toys I like new toys!! Especially things that go bang!!”
Just about as he finishes this statement and starts to look towards the forges once again smiling, he feels Nic arms route them towards the door. Brining his focus back to the sky as quickly remembers the bee that got away.
Whispers under his breath “It won’t happen again.”
“In answer to your question Bohrhorg yes I have an idea how Stella got Kiara away but as for where they went or whether I can negotiate for her that would be a big fat NO!! Obviously I’m not on the in with my sister anymore than anyone else is……”

I look to Nic “Yes Dwarven Ale would be good right about now!”

As I enter I’m blown away by the size and beauty to be held within I was expecting a bit more rough and practical to be honest. Stomping my feet off at the door and following the grumpy old dwarf down the hall as we approach the door and the dwarven maiden comes by with the tray of scraps food my bellies rumbles and I realize that I’m quite hungry too.

Winking at Bohrhorg as I bow “Pleased to meet You Herr Dugan, I heard a rumor you have Dwarven Ale….. (Beaming smile crosses my face)”

Mantle gets a look of shock on his face as Dugan says our friends were here and just left. Also the fact that he had a part in making the clockwork killer.  “Excuse me not to be rude and interrupt you Herr Dugan but did my sister say where they were heading to before they left or did she leave anything for us?”  Then with a little look of what could only be disgust, “You helped build that metal abomination!! Any idea who it belongs to these days??”

As he looks over his empty stein at us I raise mine and finish it down as I pull it down and see the food come in my bellies rumbles loudly again, “Now were talking that’s what me bellies really needing!”

On to see Uncle Dugan!

As the night goes on listening to Dugan and Bohrhorgen chat back and forth about the past and present times. My mind keeps coming back to Silence the Clockwork Killer and his Bee.

When I see there's a momentary pause between subjects I ask Dugan "So I can't stop thinking about Silence you said you helped build it long ago do you know if it has any weaknesses cause it healed up quite quickly from my magic missiles and I'm quite certain had it actually wanted to kill the rest of us we would all be dead right now. So when our paths cross again I'd like to know I have a better chance than this last time. Any information is better than no information."

Dugan gives Mantle a tight smile. “As an apprentice, I wasn’t allowed to pick my tasks. I also wasn’t included in the planning, I only manufactured parts that were used later. The only weakness I know Silence has is it only follows the orders given. No deviation. “ He takes another pull on the stein and says “your sister is having some things delivered later tonight”Dugan then gestures expansively, "Now let's get down to some serious drinking!"

Bashful smile crosses my face "Herr Dugan I meant no offence and yes the fact you were an apprentice at the time would make sense that weren't really part of the discussion of the creation of this piece of clockwork. Also as an apprentice I can understand the fact of being part of something like that was on the brink of discovery...(sly smile crosses his face).....since you've been around for so long that is!!"

Giggling "Teeheehee!!"

"Agreed we do have some drinking to do since this is the House of Kegdrainer!! I wouldn't want to bring shame to that fine name!"

Nic raises his emptay tankard, "No shame to the name!" he interjects, proffering his tankard overhead for a refill. Nic continues to listen intently to Dugan, paying heed to his mentioning of past exploits. Finally, he interrupts as if he just discovered something, "Herr Dugan! I have a question you may find difficulty answering, but I must ask. Do you know who originally purchased the clockwork assassin, this ... Silence, or who lays claim to him now?"

On to see Uncle Dugan!

As the night goes by, Dugan moves to another room, one much larger with a hearth, a bar, and comfortable chairs. A musical group is playing music from a corner stage. As Nic asks about the ownership of Silence, Herr Dugan, who has been, up to now fairly inebriated, suddenly looks stone cold sober. “Silence hasn’t been seen for several decades. Perhaps 40 years or more. He was created for the family Stross, the once noble family who ruled this city before they were thrown down in revolt. I would surmise that it would take a noble offspring of the house to be capable of commanding him. How you came to be at odds with a family that no longer exists, as far as anyone knows, is a very disturbing question to me.” A knock at the door interrupts your suddenly serious discussion as several porters bring in bundles that they place at the bar your sitting at before bowing to Herr Dugan and leaving. Dugan brightens, “Enough of what we cannot change. Time for gifts and rewards!” Dugan then starts passing out packages. First he hands everyone except Nic a well worn backpack. “Stella  commissioned these for you and had them sent here when she left. Handy haversacks for all of you. “ He then turns to Nic and hands him a smaller package, it looks like a folded cloak but as Nic accepts it, it feels heavier. Since you already carry a haversack for the group, Stella sent this for you.”  He then explains what each item does, and how to activate it, if necessary. To Rowan, he hands a headband made out of fox fur. May this help you on your path to greater understanding.” He then hands leather strips to Mantle, then shows him how to wrap them around his feet, keeping his halfling feet bare.  “Sometimes the most devastating effects are when your opponents don’t see it coming,” Then he hands a cloak to Nic, flashy on one side, completely unnoticeable on the other. I hope you can reconcile both of your natures, may this assist you in your path.”I Finally, he turns to Bohrhorgen, his Nephew. My Nephew, I treasure you as the son I never had. This Axe was your fathers, may you carry it with the honor that he embodied, and lift up the Name of our house in the same manner as he did.”   In addition, Journeyman Sternhammer is finishing a set of armor as we speak, it will be done before the morning sun.”

I am humbled by these offerings. Upon our return, if I can somehow repay this great favor, I will seek to do so. I thank you again with sincerity." Nic unclasps a spider clasp from around his neck (placing it in a haversack), dons the chain mail and shimmering cloak while beaming gratuitously. The cloak shimmers with heavy gold and silver embroidery against richly colored silk, matching Nic's smile.

You drink into the wee hours of the morning, Herr Dugan matching drink for drink with you. Truly good and drunk, Dwarven style, you start to think of sleep when Stella walks in to the room. Shaking her head bemusedly she motions you all to follow her. She bows to Herr Dugan who returns her bow. She leads you to a hallway with sleeping rooms and casts a spell, one your familiar with, nap stack. “See you in a couple hours, you’ll be rested but no guarantee you’ll be recovered.” The morning comes early, heads pounding, you make your way to the great hall, led by Bohrhorgen. Breakfast is served to you, stacks of cakes, large greasy sausages, 5 egg omelettes, large loaves of bread with butter, milk and coffee. After eating, you feel much better, ( like going to Sals Diner after the Maverick). Afterwards you wander a bit, checking out the large manor and all the wonders it presents. As you check the stables, you see a coach being readied, Stella is directing the loading of several sacks of supplies and 3 small kegs. “Ready for it? Kiara is waiting for us.”
