On to see Uncle Dugan!

Anticipating the attack, Nic intercepts the creature from behind. He feebly thrusts his rapier in between the clockwork creature's gears, as the rapier points through his mid-section, missing any vital points. Nic reposts, hoping to have garnered the creature's attention. "Looks like you've greased your cogs, metal mouth!" he says insultingly.

Nic rolled 10 using 1d20+3 ((7)).

Nic rolled 28 using 1d20+10 ((18)). Knowledge.Arcana

The gearforged steps smoothly past Nic, almost serpentine like.

19:47, Today: rchmage, for the NPC Silence, rolled 33 using 1d20+25.

19:52, Today: rchmage, for the NPC Silence, rolled 22 using 4d6+7.  Rapier damage vs. Kiara
Kiara is now at 13 hit points.

Silence steps smoothly back to ready position.

Mantle 5ft steps out of the line of peeps and says, "Nic really your always in the way!!"
Mantle casts Magic Missile at the tin man!!

18:25, Today: Mantle rolled 6 using 2d4+1.  Magic Missile Damage.
DM it needs and extra +1 damage to it I wasn't sure if it would do the plus one on each die or just the total. So total of 7 damage to Silence

then moves the rest of my movement to get me closer to the Clockwork Bee while trying not to move towards the Gearforged directly.

Stella moves forward up to Kiara, careful to keep away from Silence. She addresses the party as a whole. “Our paths must part, carry on with your task.”
Stella touches Kiara and with a small pop, they both disappear.

Nic shouts to  Mantle, "Mantle, can you do what she just did with Kiara?" and without waiting for him to answer, "I didn't think so. Let's follow suit and vanish." Nic nods to Bohrhorgen, "Get those tree stumps sprinting! Come on Rowan!" and Nic bolts in the general direction towards Uncle Dugan's establishment.

As Stella and Kiara vanish, a stillness comes over the scene. You get a good look at Silence, his rapier is an extension of his arm, some sort of projectile mechanism is integrated into his other arm. His wounds from the magic missiles heal up completely as you watch. He looks at each of you, his single eye memorizing each face. He raises his off hand and fires 4 times at 4 different points around him. Smoke billows from each impact, quickly obscuring the area, including where each of you stand. He steps backward and is gone.

21:35, Today: rchmage, for the NPC Silence, rolled 21 using 1d20+16.  Reason Unknown, area obscured.

21:41, Today: rchmage, for the NPC Bee, rolled 17 using 1d20+4.  Escape artist vs. web DC 15.

Rowan is next up.

Well since I'm blinded by the smoke cloud that just erupted around me and hear what I'm guessing as my friends running off. And I cant see that damn bee. I cast vanish on myself and start moving out of the cloud till I can see. Once I see if Bohrhorgen gets out of the cloud safe and is moving after Nic. I start moving in that direction too. I move at walking speed for the first couple of rounds so my stealth check is good then I'll up my speed to full run the next couple or rounds slowing down right before the spells wears off so I can continue in stealth mode For a bit longer.
02:13, Today: Mantle rolled 41 using 1d20+32.  Stealth Check. (My stealth +12 and +20 for vanish.)

As you retreat blindly back the way you came, 20 feet back you exit the smoke cloud. A web still stretches across the road up 20 ft. A small object is flying up and towards the roof on the right, as if seeking cover. People nearby are just now turning to look towards your location. A Smoky area in the gears district isn’t that memorable, but a web hanging between walls is.

State your intent, run, retreat orderly, observe, I don’t want to assume.

Bystanders are curious at the moment, but not accusatory.

Orderly retreat, cautious advance. I should be familiar with the Gear District so I will try to use that to our advantage.

Orderly retreat. If the bee is visible to me, and within range, I might try a dart throw and see if I can't somehow pin it, or knock it out of the air. I'd be curious to study this thingy with Mantle's help. Just let me know. I'll regroup next to Bohrhorgen in the meantime.

"One block over there is an area where we can take cover under a roof with multiple outlets a fair distance apart. It won’t lead directly to uncle Dugan's, but it should throw off any aerial surveillance."
"There’s also the sewers here, they are better built and maintained than other districts."

On to see Uncle Dugan!

As you quickly walk away from the smoky cloud, you see Bee disappear over the rooftop. The last thing you see as you turn the corner is Silence climbing the wall, faster than a man can walk. You follow Bohrhorgen to the covered forge area, keeping an eye to the sky, and pick your way carefully through the maze. Forges are being fired up, apprentices stoking coal, laying ingots in the fire, setting out tools, while masters peruse documents and discuss with journeymen the nights tasks.
The night falls fully, as you are about to leave the forge area, A carriage pulls up to you, a black scaled kobold driving. “Need a ride? Blackscales the name, I’ll take you where you need to go.”

Nic replies, "It's as good an option as any, the way I see it. It sure beats walking among brown trout." Nic hurriedly nods to the others to board the carriage, "Bohrhorgen, inform the man how to get to our destination please."

True to his word, Blackscale takes you to your destination without delay, "That will be a silver my good sirs. If ever you need a ride, don't forget, Blackscale." His one horse carriage plods off, leaving you in front of a large, 2 story building with 3 forges in front, all of which are stoked. A dwarf stands in front of each, leather aprons covered with burn marks. A kobold attends each forge as well, running bellows, placing ingots, filling quenching troughs.  You pass by the forges and up the steps to the large, thick oaken door with iron banding. A stylized knocker of a Bulls head with an iron ring in its nose placed at dwarf height. The windows of the building are large and glass covered, with iron bars preventing access. The building looks solid and well built, in typical dwarven fashion.

Bohrhorgen will turns to Mantle and motions at the forges.

"You can see here, lord Mantle, my Uncle's apprentices working, these forges run day and night.  Dwarven industry at work.  You can see the skills of the apprentices, which really speaks to the abilities of the master himself.  It is not just the superior craftsmanship," Bohrhorgen watches the burly dwarf at the center forge, "but the superior materials that make these worked goods the best in the gear district, thus in the whole city or region."

Bohrhorgen leans in and puts his arm around Mantle's shoulder and in a hushed conspiratorial tone murmurs "You can see Meister Sternhammer, one of my uncle's most accomplished apprentices working with adamantine, they have secret techniques for using any number of rare and superior materials.  With the blessings of the priests of Rava, any number of great works and exotic devices can be crafted."

"So, before we meet the Grandmeister himself, can someone explain to me where Lady Stella spirited Kiara off to?  There was some sort of magic, you lot all know more than I do about that.  It seems that negotiations without the buyer will not work very well, unless you are authorized to negotiate for her backers Lord Mantle?"

Nic puts his arms around Bohrhorgen and Mantle, ushering them forward and lowly whispers, "Perhaps we should hastily make our way inside, as I'm not overly fond of insects that fly about at night. And, I'm not fond of warm Dwarven Ale either."

"Agreed, but not really an answer."

Bohrhorgen grabs the knocker and raps three times.

"By the by, you lot should also address him by his title, he likes that.  Herr Dugan.  A title he has had since the Stross revolt."

Once inside, Nic steps in front of Mantle and Bohrhorgen and turns to them, shielding himself from the sight of others in the room, "Forgive my being short with an answer outside. I'm not sure of our comrades and their fate, but I've surmised that Stella is fairly capable in getting out of rough situations for the most part. I did not want to alert anyone on the streets or corners that we've been separated, nor give up our position to those that might seem to do us harm, given our prior circumstances in the street with that... thing. "

Nic looks down at his feet for a moment, and back up to Bohrhorgen, a pained expression crossing his face. "I do hope that making our way here without our friends, instead of pursuing that creature, is not an effort made in vain. I encourage expedience in this matter, and shall leave the flowery wording to you. May Rava bless you with fortune."
