Re: OOC:
As to activities while marching:

I think Sceach has to "navigate" since he is leading us to where we are going.

We likely need 1 more person to forage, in addition to Leanan.

Cian will forage outdoors and map indoors.

If anyone is really good at foraging, then they should take on that role, unless they are very perceptive, in which case they should simply be watching!

Actually, I asked for 3 abreast because it is more  likely out doors. Go ahead and provide it, please.

How is it more likely?

If the trail is wide enough for 3-abreast, then we can walk 2-abreast without an issue! I'm confident that there is no rule that says PCs must fill the width of the trail. :-)

And with only 7 PCs, not the 9 we originally started with, this allows for the standard casters sandwiched between fighters and still lets Leanan scout.

Unless a player has an issue, I think we should stick with this formation.

Re: OOC:
You aren't a military group, but a collection of just met strangers with no military training. Just how likely do YOU think spontaneous military discipline is? You know, the general rough mob most folks travel in when in parks and the like in the real world.

Now...You have yourself listed as foraging and mapping outdoors. Pick one. As stated in the PHB (age 183) it's ONE activity while traveling.

The 2 man Marching Order was specifically for indoors. You've listed Leanan as your scout.

Also folks, its worth pointing out that the above from Cian is opt-in, not opt-out. You need to each ratify it. Or not, as appropriate.

Re: OOC:
Ah yes, indoors, if anybody hear is a rogue they'll take the lead in the 2 man marching order. I'll take their place in the 2 man marching order, if theirs no rogues here, then I'll take the scouting position and hope that I can disable traps and unlock doors. Other than that, I'm good with the current watch rotation and single file, I'll remain scout on the 3 man Marching Order.

Re: OOC:
That's 2. 5 more. As this area is active,  I'll delay the next event until Wendesday.

I'll go with what I have at that point, however.

Again, this is opt in. Let me know you agree ( or disagree) with placement recommendations. Hell, let me know you are still here.

Re: OOC:
Msg #204 clearly states:
I have modified our previous watch/marching orders to account for the new PCs.
Nothing set in stone here, make changes if you don't like something about it.

What makes you think I was dictating to the group?

DM:

So you are saying that 3-abreast is equivalent to a rough mob; but 2-abreast shows military discipline? I disagree. It is pretty standard in D&D to put the squishy mages between the fighters...nothing militaristic about it.

Msg #205 clearly states:
Cian will forage outdoors and map indoors.

Re: OOC:
I never said you were dictating together group. I simply said I wanted their active agreement. Same as last time.

Yes, it is standard in D&D. But it is quite military. Standard military for small units. Remember how the game started, 45 years ago: as military battles.

And, after the first mission, once you've known each other for more than a few hours. I'll accept that sort of discipline and cooperation. But you folks have known each other for anywhere from 2 hours ton36 hours, and only really know who has what sort of armor. Maybe a bit more, but not much.

For now, please, just provide what I'm asking for and have a little faith that I want the game to actually succeed.

Re: OOC:
I understand, but I have had issues in past games where I didnt get clear acknowledgement, then was told "But I didnt agree with that." So now I get everyone to acknowledge, or they wander around behind the group. It also lets me know they are paying some degree of attention.

I need clear OOC acknowledgement. I have it y from three of you, so far. Tomorrow afternoon I will update th he th hread that tracks that with what I have. Today has been busy.
Hell, its 10 pm and I'm still updating from my phone.

I'm a rouge and a bit small.  I have no problem taking the front and scouting for the party.

Although he is only a small Leprechaun and the kids are always after me Lucky charms......

Great, then you'll be in the front in the second man marching order for most dungeon explorations and indoor areas. I'll handle most of the outdoor explorations.

Re: OOC:
OK, the Party Reference Thread has been updated to include what C confirmations I have. If you name isn't on one or more of the 4 lists, you need to get back to me by tomorrow or you'll be entered as a "straggler" or "Sound Sleeper".

IC is what the CHARACTER says and does, I need PLAYER confirmation. They can be different, and have been, on occasion.

Woah woah GM, no need to be so hasty! I'm just a caster, I would take middle position, provide spell cover, but I can also take frontline if needed. Sorry for the late response.

So, middle or front?

Ok, it's been 5 days, I've done my best with what I have (and in one case, the requirements of the current situation), and it's posted in the Party Reference Thread.  The missing bits probably won't matter much. If they do, you can fix them after they become a problem.

Re: OOC:
DM can you clarify:

DM in msg #100:
he breaks through into a clearing. About 3 quarters of it is covered in webs.

DM in msg #105:
Sceach 30' in, at the far edge where the bear and webs are

Is the clearing full of webs, or are they just located at the back edge, farthest from where the party entered?

Re: OOC:
Bad phrasing on my part, my apologies. Sometimes I think faster than i type (usually, actually). 3/4s of the perimeter is covered in webs, The clearing is actually clear.

You folks are at the clear bit.  You know, the part the spiders will cover in webs to trap you in.

Re: OOC:
Round 2 is over, 3 of the undead are dead, 2 are left. A Giant Spider has joined to fun.

Quarters are a bit more cramped, now. Not quite to the point where your melee folks are providing cover, but getting there.

The Spider is starting high in a tree, but it's going first, so that may change.

Round 3 at 5PM Tuesday. Enjoy your holiday weekend...although I'm not sure HOW given the times.
