OOC
This will, eventually, be an OOC thread, but for now it's mostly just an easy way for me to update you all at once.

That being said: We have 5 fairly firm, with a 6th expressing interest. All races are covered, even half elf.

That being said, only human is available now. Variant or Base doesn't matter.

-We have a warrior
-We have a druid, small "d" there by closing off Druid/druid and Bard, but still allowing for bard. If you don't know the difference between Bard and bard, go back and read the thread again.
-We have a couple Arcane types
-We have an Erin's Faithful, class unimportant.
-We have a couple of Outdoor competent characters.

What we don't have is anyone trained in thief tools, by either background or class. It's probably not important. They CAN be used without training, after all. Assuming you even find a need.

OOC
Folks, I AM working on the characters, but I have about 6 in various stages, and a 7th about to be started.

I'm still a bit out of sorts from the flu (well, "flu like symptoms") from 2 weeks ago. Mostly cough and occasional ghost of a head ache, but it's slowing me down a bit. Also, I need a break between characters to keep from confusing them.

So, my target is going to be 2 a day. That should see us done by Monday, hopefully. We have 6, probably 7, and I'll cut it off at 8.

Also, I think we have a rogue, so all bases are covered.

Also, as your characters are completed and I add you, leave your bio lines for me. I will put in a couple of words that list race and type of character. That "type" probably won't be class, but will be indicative of appearance (and hence, gear) and may actually give a somewhat skewed view of what you think the character is. It's a quick reminder for the rest of us on how you APPEAR. It need not be accurate. It may well be irreverent, however.

OOC: trinkets
There WILL be trinkets, folks. Some random (ish), some chosen for a specific character because it struck me as too good a match not to, and some will be potential plot devices.

I'll add them in later, after I have all the characters ready, or nearly so.

OOC: Names
For those of you having problems with setting specific names, Xanathar's has a section towards the end with names based on real earth geography. Historical not necessarily modern, but that's what's needed for this sort of game.

Personally, I tend toward basic names, myself...but Fred and Barney don't always work.

OK, an update:
I ahve one completed and added, two ore that are awaiting minor tweaks and could well be added tonight.

Of the 3 of you left, only one seems to have sent me, so that's where I will start tomorrow.

If you folks have any questions about character generation, lease ask me. If I don't have a character and haven't heard from you by tomorrow evening, I'll send you a post to goose you.

Folks, as you get added, it's time to do up a description and pick a portrait.

Please keep the descriptions to what can be seen at first glance. You're all just meeting at game start, no one knows that you tell Dad jokes, or wear your heart on your sleeve or drool when you water of life being bottled. Well, not yet. And they never will if you don't actually role play doing so.

And certainly no Biographies or psych profiles. I know they are common in other games and can even help when you're playing an established party that is supposed to now each other, but that isn't the case here. You are supposed to NOT know each other. Well, one of you has probably been mentioned once or twice. If you know of him, I'll let you know.

OK, folks. only 2 people to hear from and they both just need to get back to me with a final bit or two.

#7 hasn't submitted a character or responded to my query, so we'll likely just start with 6, and you'll be without a Rogue. Plenty of ways to get around that. Buy the tools and let u highest Dex use them. Better, find a bard to use them (Jack of All Trades) and best, find someone with a shady background who's actually trained.

I'll be doing a few thing tonight to prep. First will be making private groups for use in combat. Then I'll post certain information about trinkets and the like there and add them to your sheets, and, finally, a game intro post in a Premise Thread that will be what you folks get to respond to when the IC thread goes live.

Our bard/noble just dropped out.I think I upset him when he got a little greedy and I called him on it. Oh well. He wasn't essential, but he WAS a healer.

So, with 4 added, and a 5th to go, we have:
Plenty of Magic
Good healing (there's no such thing as plenty of healing)
One really good tank
one decent back up fighter

What you don't have is anyone that can use thief tools with any skill.

I prefer 6, and wanted 8 for just this reason: Sudden drop outs.

I can bump in 3 days. So, let me know: with 4 of 5 of you added and able to vote, do we wait the 3 days and bump (so, a week before we start, probably), or play with 5 tomorrow?

Thread is unlocked, vote away

Iím in no rush. Unlike all the other games Iíve been in here I get the sense this one will be full of really good players who arenít gonna drop out just because they donít get the spotlight. This is furthered by what the DM just described, bard quit cuz he wasnít getting his way. DM and I have gone back and forth on tiny details about my character and it made me care about him so much more than if I just got everything how I wanted it to begin with.

So yeah, wait for the right 5th player, either bard or rogue.

I'm good either way. As Davik said, this game looks to be full of players who want it to succeed, so if we wait a bit it just means we will have a chance to get another quality player.

OK, then. The intro post is gone until I know what we have and can modify it to reflect.

Day after tomorrow I should be able to bump the ad, hopefully in one week or sooner we can start. Nothing kills a game faster than waiting in limbo for it to start. Humm... "faster" may be the wrong word to use for a delay.

OK, you've all got a private thread live now. These will be used for combat and any (short term) solo ventures, as well as a quicker and easier way for questions between player and DM than the Private Message section.

A note on how combat works will be in Notices momentarily

Folks, for now leave the Bio lines for my use. I'm using them to help keep you straight, and if you start entering things in your empty bio line I might confuse you with another character. Worse, if you change what I put in, I'll have to go look you up to see who you are

Give it a month or two and that'll fade as I get used to who is who. Remember, you only need to track one character I need to track (and keep straight) 5 of you so far, and anywhere from 6 to 8 when we strt.

That being said, I am basing my bio lone entries n appearance and common knowledge (more or less) and NOT character class. Your secrets are still yours. (I hate DM spoilers as a player).

I love the dmís philosophy on writing only actions and dialog and not internal thoughts. Now whenever I see it in other games it annoys me. He just changed my life.

OK, folks, I had cause to double check the sidebar on page 190 of the PHB (Things you can do while moving and attacking) and noticed a bit of a logic impossibility.

I've added it to the game world page under House rules and RAW interpretations. link to a message in another game

Basically, you're not pulling anything out of your pack while you attack. pouch, but not pack. I don' care what the list says: WoTC needs to hire better editors. Of course, tat's been true since arneson and gygax were doing their own editing 45 years ago. Things get missed in every edition.

I didn't know that. I've always played where drinking a potion is the only thing you can do on a turn.
