Re: Raxus, the capital of the CIS (Chapter 1.1)
Mina makes a few notes and gives a nod. "Launch pad 12 has your ship. The CIS Defender. Good hunting." With that a B-2 droid begins to lead the crew to the ship. The ship was a work of art and brand new from the look of it, even smells brand new and the CIS symbol was bold and clear, painted in white on the sides. The crew quarters (nine rooms) are large with big beds, basic furniture, restroom and shower. The last room (the one closest to the ship's bridge) in the crew quarters area is the captain's quarters and is double the size with amenities (computer, bath, grand wooden furniture, etc).

The real question now was, who was going to sit in the captain's chair? Who was the ship's pilot, and so on?

OOC:

The "Defender" is a scaled down version of the munificent-class Frigate, this light Cruiser experimental prototype will likely never see mass production due to cost. It's made for hit and run, seek and destroy missions.

Crew Roles for this ship are...

Captain (Commander of the ship)

Pilots (Pilot and co-Pilot, with co-pilot being optional, but recommended.)

Gunner (Fires weapons at his or her station)

Navigator (Astrogation)

Engineer (Repairs)

Sensor (Sensors and Shields)

Defender-prototype Light Cruiser

Ty had not given a clear indication of the dispensation of his funds should he die, because he wasn't going to get his fool ass killed in this action, there was too much to do to bring the Republic to it's knees.

As they're moving towards the ship, he clears his throat and then speaks up.  "Okay, who's good at flying a ship, or performing general duties about the ship?  I can handle sensors and communications if needs be.  What about the rest of you?"

"My skill set falls squarely into the training I received as a Consular," said Mal, marvelling at the ship. "She's beautiful," he smiled. "I'll captain her." He looked at his now companions, adding in a friendly tone, "Can't you see this ship loves me?"

"I can see you love this ship. Do you two need some time alone before we get underway?" Arianna asked as she stopped to admire the quite striking ship. "My training doesn't lend itself towards control of any ship systems but also to Command which I am more than willing to give to you, at least for this mission. Command experience is something all of us should cultivate."

Manaen trundled right along, "You can have the chair but I do want the cabin. The other quarters are little more than a coffin to me. As far as role I can run a fair bit of engineering. I invented weapons and armor in the past, repairs are not far from that role."

"Some of my weapons came fairly close the flashy light swords too."

"Yea, I shall make the lady sing for you all and show you how wonderous her voice is."

"I can also pilot, I'm no Skywalker but I can handle a vessel decently" she says to the others as she walks through the ship taking one of the standard bunks ignoring the Hutt's demand of the captain's quarters and tosses bag on the bunk before heading back out into the corridor and says "If the Republic has control of the planet wouldn't an obviously confederate ship with confederate markings get attacked rather quickly?"

Garcin was dumbstruck by the look of the ship. He dropped off his stuff at one of the common crew quarters, it was the nicest looking bed he had ever seen and he looked forward to resting his head down once the time came to get some shut eye. As the others spoke about their skills for the ship, Garcin pulled out his tools from his bag. Since I join the CIS, all I've been doing is learning the way of the sword and the Force. Luckily, before this I grew up on the farm and needed to be a bit handy helping Ma and Pa. If it can be repaired, I can fix it. If someone wants to share the job with me for Engineer, more skilled hands are always a plus.

Ty gives a nod.  "So, Malichor is ships captain for as long as he proves up to it, and Arianna as back up in case Malichor falters.  Morai is our pilot, Zos our co-pilot.  I'll handle the computers.  Both Manaen and Garcin will team up for any engineering challenges.  That leaves Zikriya and Toblis as gunners.  Sound right?"

Zikriya pursed her lips gently, and casually crossed her arms.  "Well, we can certainly see where all that goes.  I like to think that both I have a certain skill with leadership, and that as co-captain, it's something you and I should agree on.  I've no trouble letting someone prove themselves, but my best skills are in Confidence and Coordination.  Guns might be fun though.

In the future, though"
she says calmly, starting with a small movement of her hand, and building as she speaks "And I don't know how the 'jedi order' or whatever it is now, with the schism, handles itself - but being the first one to blurt out 'dibs' is not a system for success.  We succeed together or fail alone, and if we fail, we're not just letting down each other, Senator Bonteri, and ourselves, and no, we're not just failing the Confederacy, we're failing every sentient who wants a life of freedom and peace, a life where every citizen has a future unencumbered by draconian measures, and where the 'self-styled' defenders of balance aren't taking up the arms of the oppressor.  New friends, teammates, we have a simple mission, a simple task.  It will not be easy however, and any sense that we should be shooting our way in or out probably means that we've already failed.  But I am confident that we will succeed, and you should be too."

OCC: I'd use my inspire confidence, but that's once a day! ;)

"Dibs is about the best you've got as you have to trust that we know our skill set. Otherwise, we will need a six-month Bootcamp for evaluation and discipline. And not to be insulting I don't think many here enjoy physical training as much as I do." Manaen smiled at Zikriya, his smile spreading so wide that his head looked like it could split in half. "I do love your spirit. I can almost taste the victory in the most unlikely battles to come."

The Hutt gripped either side of his walker droid and lifted the full of his weight off. He went fully up, over, and landed with a thunder crash. "Dumdum, take my stuff to the cabin then help anyone load their gear as well. When moving someone's gear for them do not break line of sight. No wondering like last time. Everyone loves a Jinga tower but not with their luggage."

Now he turned to Garcin, "I suppose you and I need to get to know each other well enough to handle emergency repairs mid fight. We should also take stock on components, learn where things are to waste no time to fix, annndddd if you show me that light sword of yours I will show you a trick 'Saber Back' showed me once. He was a light raid warrior who could go toe to toe with jedi."

Ty nods as Zikriya speaks up.  "Very valid points, Zikriya, and Manaen.  While Zakriya and I have been put in a position of authority, we don't really know who's good at what, or to what degree, so we have to depend on you guys to tell us what you're good at and where you can provide the best benefit to the whole team.  For example, I'm not much of a spacer, so I'm not a good fit to be the transport captain or pilot.

I'm not saying we're carving these roles into permacrete, just putting an initial outlay in place based on people's input, just to get some discussion going.  If we go with these roles, or whatever changes we make, then we can tweak it whenever we feel like we see room for improvement."

Toblis busied himself with looking over the ship schematics as the others spoke, but looked up as his name was mentioned. Ive not much experience with the role of gunner, but Im an able learner. That said, in an emergency Im a decent hand at repair and maintenance. We shouldnt be arguing over roles though, we should focus on the task at hand.

Zos Bo Zan nodded, as he familiarized himself with the prelaunch sequence "Hey, how much more power to you think you could leech from the system safety in a pitch?" Zos asked Toblis.

"Just trying to figure out what role (fighting or fleeing) we would be best suited for if we ran into trouble."

Hm, let me think, Toblis said, looking over the schematics of the ship. As he looked, he continued speaking to Zos.

I would think fleeing would be wisest if we should find ourselves outnumbered though, we are just the one ship. Our guns should do well in a small scale fight though.

ooc: Repair check to interpret the schematics, see what limits I could push without too much danger to the ship itself?

Morai heads over to the Kel Dor and takes a quick look at the master control panel before heading beside him and sitting in the co-pilot chair and runs through a quick scan of all the buttons, switches and control surfaces. With the mention of flight or fight she speaks up "Judging by the weapons I saw as we boarded we have light anti-starfighter weapons and torpedoes. No turbolasers or ion weapons so flight may be our best option if given the chance. " Pushing a few more buttons she finds a general schematic and adds "plus we have a 0.5 hyperdrive so speed is our friend."

Arianna shouldered her bags and stepped into the ship. "It is a beautiful ship. I'm going to get set up in my cabin then stay on the bridge. I'm interested in learning how to pilot so this is a good time to start."

After she stowed her bags into her selected cabin she went looking for a holo communicator.

After the others have had a chance to speak, Malichor catches Zikriya's eyes.

"I'm happy to turn the Captain's chair over to you. I was staking a claim because we haven't the time to go over everyone's resume' and come to a consensus around who is best positioned for what role. It seems to me we're under some pressure to act, not debate. But I can use the time to research our destination and help develop a plan."

To the group at large, he says "So Zikriya's our captain, and I'll back her up." He smiles to show that his sentiment is sincere, not forced or cynical. "Do let me know if we need to talk our way past any obstacles though. It's one of my strong suits."

Ty nods at the progress they're making.  "For cabin assignments, I'm thinking that Manaen gets the biggest one.  After that, Zikriya and our pilots get the cabins with the easiest approach to the control room.  That okay with everyone?"

Re: Raxus, the capital of the CIS (Chapter 1.1)
While everyone was talking Manaen had made his way to cargo. First, he set aside a small area that would be turned into a weight lifting area, you don't stay as cut as he was without it. Second, he set aside a small area that would be turned into a tiny hydroponics area. Even a little fresh air and veg was a blessing.

More importantly, he set up one of the computers so he could work. He tilted his head side to side popping that tree of a neck, sounding more like someone beating a cow with a bat more than a popping spine. He submitted an astrogation course to forward helm for them to verify as they so wished. They would be far better pilots than he but astrogation was a group effort.
16:17, Today: Manaen rolled 20 using 1d20+7. To assist astrogation through computer network.

The next order was to set up a trigger. It was EXTREMELY bad luck to set off on a first mission without a song to play. So he implanted a quick song that would trigger over the speaker system the moment the pilots started primary drives to maneuver.

Hardwire the trigger:
 20:47, Mon 08 Nov: Manaen rolled 15 using 1d20+10.
Cover his tracks in the logs:
20:47, Mon 08 Nov: Manaen rolled 14 using 1d20+7.
The song that will play:

"We are ready to disembark at your order captain."

OOC: Zos Bo Zan inputted the appropriate flight coordinates and the route that the ship would take and requested permission to disembark from the command station.

Zos Bo Zan rolled 15 using 1d20+1.  Astrogation Check.
Zos Bo Zan rolled 16 using 1d20+3.  Pilot Check.

After stowing her gear in her cabin Arianna made her way to the cargo bay. She gave the Hutt a small nod and stopped before the holoprojector. She keyed in the private channel and waited for her Master to answer.

She bowed when his image appeared before her. "Master Dooku. You were right. The Jedi have abandoned everything they used to believe in. It was my former Master, Ranith Kale - who led the attack on Cularin. Jedi-General Ranith Kale. They always said they were keepers of the peace but now they lead Republic troops and assume military rank. They need to be swept aside with the corrupt Republic they serve."

Manaen inclined his head when the Zeltron made her way into cargo, "Hit me up when you're done if you feel like helping with a long term project." Outside of that he went back to his work and gave Arianna her space. He was a Hutt that managed weapons, not secrets. Her conversation was safe in his cargo bay. He had already cataloged the cargo bay, had a station half set up for gear repair, and the materials for the hydroponics set aside.

Buff the Hutt had shiz to do and did it quick.
