Re: OOC

So I do not know what to do with this setup. I cannot use Entangle because the area is so large I cannot hit the enemies without hitting half our allies.

Re: OOC

I suspect Anstice we are in the locations where we can best hide based off the available cover. If you drop your Entangles off the map then the circular radius can likely catch some of them at the front or back without trapping any of us but you're not going to get all of them.

And yeah, that's a drawback with spells with 40 foot radiuses.

Re: OOC

Could we active the ambush just as they are as first enemy enters clearing rather then when then divide our people. That way we actually divide there forces and limit there movement instead of divide ourselves and limit our own movement.

Re: OOC

Activating a spell the instant the first person comes into view does not divide their forces or limit their movement. From the looks of things the GM let us kick it off as soon as all of them are in the clearing with no chance of retreat and we are positioned where we best have cover.

We've likely got as good as it gets with where we are.

Re: OOC

It does though. They move at half speed within the area and if they fail there save they cannot move without succeeding a DC 20 Str check. It means we fight the front group for a round or 2 before the back group can get up to the fray. Assuming everyone passes there save and I entangle as they enter the clearing. There are 4 enemies that can get out and act turn 1. There are 2 enemies that can get out but not act and there are 2 enemies that cant get out even on a double move unless there movement is 45 or higher. Technically they could exit the sides to get out but then there further away from the center of the battle which delays them joining as well. If people fail there save the situation gets much worse for our enemies.

It also means we are not split when outnumbered allowing the enemy to take advantage of there numbers against us. Worse this positioning actively weaken me. Effectively removing another combatant from our side. Makes the enemy able to split us and fight us still outnumbered in two groups and allows them more avenues of attack against us.

Ultimately Im asking to start the fight as they enter the clearing if that is not possible I understand.

Re: OOC

I have to admit I am happy with the current layout. Perhaps we could do better, but it feels like this was a 'decent' position, and not the GM being mean or anything.

Normally I would be totally fine with asking the GM if 'we can pick the time to attack'. Just because I am happy with it, doesn't negate the value of Anstice's comments: shes put a lot of thought into that post.  But let's remember he's very tired (said so) and we should keep it nice and simple for him. Given that... on balance I'd suggest we just play it as it is. Maybe if we are lucky he'll do a little fudging to make it a little easier on us

Re: OOC

I would cast Mage Armor on myself upon hearing them come, leaving me with one spell. And then use my crossbow to shoot them from afar.

Given that it lasts for two hours, and I will have given you at least a five minute warning, I think that's more than fine myself :)

Mind making your spell DC visible for the 5 PCs caught in your spell Cassandra?

Re: OOC

Actually with the layout of the baddies it is impossible for me to cast the spell in a sensible way

So I'll just watch. I've edited

In reply to Anstice (msg # 380):

Fine...We'll put it up for a vote.

1. If you all want to start of on one side of the clearing, please vote below (note, I will have to repost the map).

2. If you want to start off the way it's currently.

This vote will be up for the next 48 hours.

If I am honest I am good with the current set up, but IC we probably would have planned a bit better positioning. So option 1...

Re: OOC

3 for # 1, with 3 saying they are abstaining from the vote out of protest.

Well, this is disappointing. This vote was a test to see how far some where going to take this, and sadly, this test has failed. I'm going to be really honest with you now and I got to say, I am no longer happy running this game.

Some have said it in the PM and I have to agree, "Ungrateful munchkins". This is why GMs on the site drop games. Why brake your back and try hard to put on a good game, when the players just complain about everything you do. There is no gratitude for my hard work and time spent on this game or consideration.

Players whining about only being able to catch 2-3 monsters in their AOEs rather than the entire group... Sorry players shouldn't get to dictate the terrain and monster positions. I am not going to spend another hour of my life setting up a new map. No one is going to care about your fun time, if you don't reciprocate.

That said I don't hold any grudges, but this game is over. Good luck in your future ventures.

Re: OOC

Ahhh, I didn't abstain out of protest, I honestly didn't care, I'm not the DM, it is the DM's game and he makes the rules. :-( bye everyone, this really sucks.
