ABILITY SCORES

The second method is one I invented back in the 2ed days. Never seen anyone else use it. Although you lose 2 dice compared to the 4d6 method, you gain by being able to mix the dice pool into combinations you prefer. If you have never done it why not give it a couple of spins and see what kind of scores you get?

----------------------------------
quote:
rules as written state that str is applied to damage like with "thrown weapons"...but when it comes to the range...is it a thrown weapon with a max of 5 range increments (making the max range 250 ft, decent range) or is it classified in with the bows as a projectile weapon concerning range, using 10 range increments (making the range 500 ft, not unbelievable)

I would assume that to gain the strength bonus you would have to use the lower range. BUt if someone can find an official rule on it I will accept it.

ABILITY SCORES

I really have to pack it in for tonight. Should have plenty of time tomorrow to continue with the planning. I still need to get a map of Green Town posted for you. Not that it will be overly important where everything is at the start.

ABILITY SCORES

Hi folks, I haven't decided on what I'd like to play yet as I'm happy to arrange something to fit in with the rest of the group, which it seems to me so far consists of:
  Beagan: Gnome factotum
  Clover: Halfling fighter (ranged?)
  Tydor: Halfling conjurer
  Galen: Gnome cleric/illusionist

ABILITY SCORES

My Cleric is a gnome Cleric of brandobaris, gnome god of thieves and illusions. His focus will be the magic/illusion side, and eventually be a Cleric/illusionist, so won't be your typical stand up front with a mace and shield Cleric. He is more a spellcaster Cleric, using magic to help others and when he gets wizard spells, illusion spells

ABILITY SCORES

I would be willing to do 2
Note that the die roller though has a 20 die limit when showing individual die rolls

3 is 2nd choice

i did 11d6 drop 2 twice :)

I'm your local circus performer :) hint hint :)

ABILITY SCORES

I was going to say I didn't mind which method was used, but actually I'll go for 2 as it's the best for avoiding odd stat values.

ABILITY SCORES

The opportunity to get higher scores would be worth my time to use the 2nd stat generation method.

Also I am a ranged fighter but by ranged I do mean "out of melee range"

Also to you crafting inclined characters...keep in mind that the sling I chose as my main weapon is designed to throw larger then average items like potions...so potions at Max of 500 ft instead of just 50. It has a numerous tactical benifits.

I had initially applied as a Fighter going for the Warslinger PRC, but it seems that Clover has that base covered pretty well!

I'll shift to what my second idea was of eventually aiming for the Halfling Outrider PrC, so starting as either a ranger or a druid. I'll have to see stats and pre-req's for the PrC.

I saw somewhere that DM Neogi is newer to DM'ing? So should we avoid things like Complete Adventurer feats (Devoted Tracker)?

Is there a list of approved sources @GM Neogi or is it pretty wide open?

EDIT: oof both of my 11d6 rolls weren't even average. Is there a threshold to re-roll?

Re: ABILITY SCORES

I'd say 1 full reroll, especially if you rolled bad (for both sets of 11d6 :) )

My goal is Gnome Giant-Slayer

So Races of Stone and Complete Warrior beyond PHB is what I'll need

Planning to be Rogue/Ranger until I qualify (Which given feats will be 7th level to take 1st level gnome giant slayer)

Re: ABILITY SCORES

So I'm thinking Eldritch Disciple (Cleric/Warlock): You can never have too much divine power.

I find https://anydice.com/ useful for comparing rolling methods: Try entering output [highest 18 of 22d6]/6 (the /6 is to give average stat) vs output [highest 3 of 4d6].

Re: ABILITY SCORES

So based on the recently posted add for the game, where the GM said we can do anything we want. And his follow up to that where he said he would research anything he does not know ur understand
...and...
someone else wanting to be a ranged fighter...

There is a "caster" class I have really wanted play.

If the group is amenable. I would like to propose to the group that I switch to the "horribly unplayable and underpowered" truenamer.

Thoughts... opinions...etc

Well that neither sounds supportive not against it. But I don't want to step on your toes. So that is why I want opinions.

My scores with racial modifiers ...

Strength 7  -2
Dexterity 18  +4
Constitution 15  +2
Intelligence 18  +4
Wisdom 9 -1
Charisma 12 +1

Okay not strong but has other advantages.

Re: ABILITY SCORES

Tom_Gnome could well be more on the melee side, since I think that may be where we're lacking, so if Galeyn is more stand-back, there won't be much overlap.

In reply to Clover (msg # 51):

Will not be on my toes at all....
I like the flavor of a factotum knowing about it and using a few of the low level spells
Bulwark of reality comes to mind

Plus it might make for some stimulating in character discussions

I have never went into the true speak classes.

Maybe with a rank I can aid in true name research!

Dice roller still doesn't like me :( 61 points to distribute between 6 stats: there's gotta be a re-roll or one of the arrys.

Re: ABILITY SCORES

Wellby Tosscobble - probably Stout halfling - Ranger going for Halfling Outrider PrC

If re-rolls are allowed, I got much better this time. Total of 75 pts to distribute.

If re-rolls are not allowed, I'm in your boat, 62 points...

Since Tom us going a cleric/warlock, and usually a ranger, I may go a druid

Have we decided on a starting level?
