Re: ABILITY SCORES

Grease itself is flammable, as the spell grease makes grease it is dm fiat to allow it or not.

DND online has grease catch on fire.

also, if I dont get skipped again, I'll post in a few hours.

Re: ABILITY SCORES

That was a weird thing about some spells being flammable in earlier editions
The ones I recall are grease and web (meaning specifically cause more damage when burned)

In my games I used to make it harder to ignite grease
No way
Flint & steel
Torch
Chance
Flaming oil (easy to do)

Did always
Alchemists Fire
Produce flame
Breath weapons (fire)
Any fire/flame spell.   Including flame blade

Re: ABILITY SCORES

Grease lasts 1 round per caster level so it must be quite volatile (is that the word I want? Evaporates rapidly, I mean) so burning it must do little damage. And why think that a spell effect in a fantasy world will act the same as in our world?

Flame breath weapon would evaporate it instantaneously, same with other magical fires.

And if it does burn why assume it is hot enough to cause damage?

In reply to DM Neogi (msg # 316):

Different DMs have different interpretations of the spell.  If you feel flaming Grease is a game breaker, it's your call

Re: ABILITY SCORES

There is a lot of writing about this topic! So fascinating. Rulings are mixed. What is interesting is, I never took the title of that spell to be a noun, but a verb, to grease something.

Re: ABILITY SCORES

Well, technically it is kinda a verb. but the word of the spell says it makes grease and thats where the conflict is bred from.

But the grease spell itself clears up that problem with its own description, when it says clearly that it is not flammable.

So spell level 1 "grease" is NOT flammable

Spell level 2 "incindiary slime" is like grease but IS flammable and it can be found in Complete Mage of 108.

It does not say that. Also, the topic was already ruled on, best not open debate on a closed topic

Nixif:
Nixif moved over to Sir Jovus, a gently glow formed about his hand and if he wasnt resisted then he would reach up and touch the swashbucklers shoulder... Healing him up to half his HP. "I cant help you the whole way, only most the way, but I can do this all day so if someone else has any more extensive healing then I can start it and they can finish it."

Nixif, i believe that i was already at half hit point.  Would your healing have any effect?

Re: ABILITY SCORES

if you are already at half, no, lol.

but its best to assume I just go around healing everyone who spoke up to half hp.

orlen can probably heal you the rest of the way with his 2d6 thing. his is slower than mind though

Re: ABILITY SCORES

I could heal a max of 2 more if I rolled high on a truespeak check.

But my check DC is ...
...15+(2xecl)=23...
...7 uses of the utterance at a +2 DC per use = +14 to DC
...giving a final DC of 37 and at the moment if I roll a Nat 20 I can hit a 41 dc I have an second utterance that could allow me to use the first 2 more times so up to four uses of (fast heal 2, that lasts 5 rounds) speak up if you need a use of it.

Consider yourself healed to half, orlen.

oh, truse speak has use limits? maybe it's not as good as I thought then. it doesnt look like it scales, and if it has limits on use... doesnt seem like it's actually all that powerful.

Re: ABILITY SCORES

Oh it has limits.

The DC increase (per utterance) by +2 every time it is used.

In the process of level up you can invest +1 skill point per level.

The base DC is 15+(2*CR) for enemy

The base DC is 15+(2*HD) for allies

The base DC is 15+(2*caster level) for magic items

Flat DC 25 for non magical items

But there are some things truenamer can do that no other spell casters can do.

But there are an overwhelming number of arguments that factually prove why the class is stacked against the player and becomes unplayably weak by lvl 7

I put the dungeon map as our main map for when you're ready to move on. You might have to leave this game by switching to the rpol main menu then come back to refresh the maps.

Re: ABILITY SCORES

guys, we need to determine book keeping and where everything is all at health and healing wise.

For sures, everyone is at least at half hp, who else has healing they can spare and who else is healing?

I am not going to have my bat use it's tongue for the remainder of the dungeon, without healing, as it got dangerously close to being cut off.
but it can fight and do stuff without it's tongue so it doesnt NEED healing.

I took no damage, so I'm fine.

Who NEEDS healing above half to feel like they arent about to die?
