and my original 5th didn't work out, so I've opened up apps again. Will be able to bump the game ad in a couple of days.

and, I have to add, that if the hell part seems confusing, difficult or frustrating, well, it's supposed to. it's hell.

trust me, things will change for the better once you actually become Kuei-jin. or at least you won't be so powerless.

Its actually a bit more challenging than starting the game as a Kuei-jin who's already on a Dharma path.  But this prelude has shown me a few things that might factor into later character motivations :)

ok, actually putting in a template for your character sheet, which you can find under character details (upper left of screen).
for abilities, just add in those you have dots in and don't even bother to list those you have no dots in.

also, in character details, you can put a Description of your character. whatever you think is worth noting. Reiko's done hers already, if you want to peek. (Click on "The Cast" and then click on her namme.)

it's a good example, but you don't have to stick to her format. I can explain how she managed to get that big image in there, if anyone is interested.

also, you'll see two lines of character bio you can fill in. I'll leave it up to you what to put there, whether your dharma and direction or your former profession or anything that's not ridiculous.

today is a hectic day for me, so not sure how much posting I'll get in.

when we start back up, you will be a fully formed wu, and we can get on with the game.

I think each of you understands how bad the Yomi Wan ("Thousand Hells") are and how suck it is to be driven by your Demon.

For those folk lagging a bit, I will sprinkle in occasional flashbacks.

Might I suggest that everyone at least declares their Dharma in opening posts?  I've also updated my cast description with a SECOND BREATH CHANGES section.

Also are the players going to get input into the Wu's name?

other two players should be posting sometime today, and then I will get in my next post.

Figure I ought to chime in with something.  I'm active duty military and my schedule is highly variable so my posts may come at odd times and with irregularity.  It can be difficult for me to find time to make a decent post on a day that I work.  I'll do my best to keep things moving, though.

a truckload of notes:
1) I am not inherently familiar with Tokyo. Researching the hell out of it, but if you positively know I am wrong about something, let me know.

2) I am using the family names of all the Broken Jade wu since I doubt you would be addressing them familiarly; other than that, I have been dropping a lot of the "-san" suffix, just for easy reading.

3) Reiko is right, you do need to think of a name for your wu. You should talk about it on this thread. I am leaving it pretty open, as long as it is one to three words. two word names seems to be the happy fun number, though.

4) the game is a lot more open now. if you want to make up a human NPC to talk to or a bar or something similar, do it. I can run with it. if you want to go somewhere in the city, let me know and I will let you know where in the heck that is, though if you do your own research, you are a blessed person.

5) sometimes to fast forward plot (like my last post), I will just peripherally touch on things you do. which is sorta like acting for your characters, maybe, but I will try to keep it in spirit and you can always flashback to clarify.

6) again, have fun with this. Your wu is being formed for a specific reason, but that is not the entire plot. I will try my best to throw in things according to your characters' interests and obsessions. I'm making threads for each of you--unseen to the others, like your Hells were--to chronicle information you deem not worth relating to the wu at large. My only warning is don't keep too many seccrets.

7) try and fill out the character sheet form I've provided under character details. makes my life easier and gives you a place to keep track of XP I've awarded and XP you've spent, not to mention how much demon chi (which you have a chance to recover each evening) or Yin or Yang (you need to spend one or the other to animate in the evenings).

8) You can spend any XP you want during relative downtime, though you need a teacher for any of the Disciplnes.

9) you can always hit me with questions. I either will know the answer or the page to look it up on.

10) Don't forget you can spend up to one Willpower a turn to get an automatic success. It replenishes slowly, mostly when I deem you are truly acting according to your Nature, but it is a valuable resource.

For our Wu's name, I'd suggest something-something Jade, taking after our teachers.
While I'm certain it wouldn't translate to japanese, if we wanted to be clever, we could do the Jaded something-something instead ...
Maybe the Jaded Death, since there's four of us ? if that isn't too horribly edgy,

The Jade City Wu... to represent an urban group?

What about something like The Lost and Found, or The Yomi Wan Tourists?

ST admission: I came up with "Broken Jade" as your teachers' wu name in like the ten seconds it took me to type that particular sentence in my post...  heehee.

Ryuji and I are both fine with anything for the name of the Wu.  I have no strong opinions on it and he wouldn't voice objections even if he had them.

I'd like to see a few more suggestions before throwing any of the names a vote.

That said, The Yomi Wan Tourists is an amusing name and my fave so far :)

And in relation to the Wu's living arrangements, Reiko has Resources 2... if that's relevant.

I like 'The Jade City Wu', elegantly simple.

Other ideas could be:  Virtuous Half-Moon /  Four Star Horizon /  Wayward Waves ,
since we lack the north direction and we've got no tigers either.

Virtuous Half Moon Wu has a nice flow.

Also the PCs do have permission to use Reiko's first name in conversation.

as far as I can tell, Kawasaki-shi is something like 7-8 miles across the city to the southeast and trains stop running around midnight. so I am guessing you are heading there first.
