Character Creation
Sure. Fire away:
1. He’s your classic comic book omnidiscplinary scientist/inventor. He specializes in energy transfer (electricity, kinetic to potential, etc…). But given time, books and resources, there’s not much he can’t figure out on his own. But other than in these fields, it will almost always be faster for him to ask someone.
In the real world, he’s a brilliant mechanical/electrical engineer that’s very well versed in both fields. So he can make anything that he can think up. Being good at both of these, he’s well versed in physics as well.
I don’t think this carries over too much into other scientific fields other than through common sense and reasoning. So he’s not much better at doctoring or astronomy or astrology, economics, etc.. than any other very smart but untrained/uneducated person in these fields.
2.Personality-wise I’m feeling that he’s sometimes arrogant, always happy to be alone but also affable. I’m imagining Doc Octavious from Spiderman 2 before his transformation. Or Doc Savage. Or maybe even Shuri from Black Panther or Tony Stark. Or even Screech from “Saved by the Bell”, but not as sycophantic. Or even Curtis Metcalf from the Hardware comics (although he was kind of a jerk for the first year). Relatively outgoing and OK people in social situations, but they know they’re the smartest people in the room and if you don’t try to be smarter than them (“Because you’re not”) then you can party and get along just fine as long you don’t mind coming in second to the science/mission. He can even be a good mentor or friend.
Not a House or Sherlock Holmes type of super arrogant jerk guy.
Physically, most of his above-average physicality comes from the Conduit powers and the getting in shape to fight crime. Before that, he was pretty average in terms physical ability. So any above-average attributes here should be within human ability and the result of hard training.
3.Whichever is more fun for you is good for me. I don’t feel like we should do an origin story. If we’re talking Spiderman comics, I was thinking a good opportunity for storytelling would be to have this take place in the span of time when he was an established/widely known urban legend but before he’s a full-blown celebrity Avenger if that makes sense?
So many people are familiar with the concept of Conduit and can put two and two together and be like “Is that the Conduit guy? Was he a hero or do we need to run” vs “Ah, hell yeah! Conduit’s here with the Plenipotentiary! It’s gonna be ok everyone!” This could also lead to a lot of heroes fighting heroes in the classic golden age tradition of misunderstandings and pride.
But I’m really open to anything and whatever provides the most story opportunities and fun exploring the world is what I’m down for.
4.He flies under his own power.
