Hi all.

Figured a quick introduction would help.  Seraphina is a young human woman with a penchant for all things rough and tumble arcane magic that is expedient to cast in a fight (preferably with a flame or fire trapping).  You could call her a "magus" or "battle mage" type character, not really excelling at either but blending both.

She's a little tight lipped about her past, preferring to talk about her adventures, which only accounts for the last few years.  But there's a lot of subtle clues:  excellent table manners, favoring long, impractical hairstyles, knowledge of heraldry, always trying to color coordinate.

Hey everyone!

We have 3 players so far, definitely not bad for the first day, hopefully one or two more apply by tomorrow and we can get started!

As the game intro said, IC everyone has already known each other for about a week at least, having battled together against various undead monsters and such. You guys are welcome to discuss anything that may have happened over the past week that drew you guys closer etc

Heya;

I suspect that Seraphina and Velvet are gonna get along famously!  While Velvet is a lower-class kinda girl (barely into developing her back-story, though), she also tends to present a boisterous adventurer persona to hide her grief, shame... all the negative crap she doesn't know how to deal with.  So... powderkeg in the making?  probably!  "Fight hard, drink hard."  That's her motto today.

Hi all,

Your latest edition here, with Marcus Coventry, another spell caster. But I'm going to be a wand slinger, which is Weird Science, but describing it as me using an assortment of wands that allow me to channel my spells.

I need to think about what spells I want, but if Seraphina is going down the blasting fire mage route, I was thinking I could be more support magic? Wouldn't want to clash, when there are lots of options out there.

Downside with Weird Science is I have 2 spells to start with, but I do have more PP, when compared with Magic/Miracle. So it could be I go for 1 support and 1 aggressive spell, allowing my PP to keep me blasting longer?
Or double support, and it means I can keep spells up longer?

One idea I had was Darksight, to help us see underground/at night, and then adding the modifiers Hurry and Shroud.
For 5 people would cost 7PP, and for an hour let us ignore 4 points of illumination (6 with a raise and see in total darkness), give us +2 pace, have -1 penalty to attack us, and +1 to stealth rolls.
Like having a watered down, but longer lasting, Deflection and Speed cast on us.

Most of mine are going to be things that benefit someone who fights up close (like Deflection as "Flame Shield"), though down the road a fireball type effect is certainly not out of the question.  Seraphina mostly casts spells on herself and anyone who might wade into the fray with her rather than casting them on enemies, if that makes any sense.

As a reminder to everyone, you have 4 advances. 3 for novice rank, and then 1 for having achieved seasoned rank.

Iíll be looking over character sheets later tonight, but Iíll have my phone on me and Iíll be replying to any questions all day today. No rush to finish your sheet though, we have plenty of time!

EDIT: Also, starting funds are doubled since we are at seasoned rank :)

Yeah I did a quick draft but I'll probably be revising it a bit before I'm done with it.  I often like to throw it down on the page then tweak it, SW characters being so simple to create it's easier that way then meticulously planning it ahead of time.

I was going to say I usually just type mine, maybe do a little formatting but nothing elaborate

Probably the fanciest thing I do is put an audit trail at the end so I remember what I spent my advances on

What type of darkness vibe are you wanting?
  • Blind, which needs no elaboration?
  • Bolt, shooting darkness at people?
  • Darksight, to see through the darkness?
  • Deflection, making people harder to be seen and thus hit?
  • Fear, to represent the fear of the dark?
  • Light/Darkness, which you could have the limitation for Darkness only, but lower it to 1PP?


Also, in terms of healing, you might be interested in relief too, as removing fatigue and shaken can help prevent people getting wounds.

Are most of us coming with an Arcane Background?

And with four powers, are you also using Weird Science Heia, and taking New Powers? Or another AB, and used one of the powers from New Powers to add another trapping?
