Re: On the other side.
Greyband has always been taught to respect the wild. Every creature is interesting and useful in its own right. This crow, however, tested the limits of his patience. He even threw a rock at it once to try to discourage it, but it just circled around to another branch where it cawed at him.

Looking rather dejected, Greyband returned to the others and tried to dodge the topic of his failure. "So, where to next? Since we seem to have a good camp here, we should probably explore the surrounding terrain."

Re: On the other side.
Waking upon Greyband's return, Blackfoot glanced at the noon-day sun, "We can afford another day or two here, but only if we have better luck finding supplies... otherwise we should move on swiftly before we starve"

Gathering his furs, he stood, "I'm happy to try my hand for rabbit or some forage, see if the afternoon brings more luck. Failing that we can set some snares or try dawn or dusk?"

Borrowing the Short Bow to Hunt

17:20, Today: Blackfoot rolled 11,1 using 3d6,1d6 with rolls of 3,4,4,1.  Hunt - Base: 3; Skill: 1; Gear: 0. - [roll=1590164432.67137.340524]

Believe I should have included the extra "Gear" die below for Terrain
17:22, Today: Blackfoot rolled 1 using 1d6 with rolls of 1.  Hunt - Terrain: Plains. - [roll=1590164530.38355.340524]

Regardless, it was a failure and hence waiting for a Mishap from the GM

Rhogar feeling pleased with himself for making the cave area a more natural safe place for the group to rest and sleep. Once Blackfoot wakes up and gets ready to go hunting.  :This cave is a secure area now I took time during the first Quarter day to make it safer with Tasser's help. I see you are going to hunt, I am too but I will head in a different directions to give us a better chance of some success."

13:07, Today: Rhogar rolled 13,3,6 using 3d6,1d6,1d6 with rolls of 5,2,6,3,6.  Hunt, plains.

In reply to Blackfoot (msg # 94):

13:13, Today: GM rolled 4 using 1d6 ((4)).

Trap!

As Blackfoot makes his way back to the cave, empty handed and cursing these barren lands he snags himself in a very well hidden snare...

Blackfoot takes one point of damage to strength and also needs a successful MOVE roll to get out of the trap unassisted.

Blackfoot let out a stream of muttered curses, slowly wriggling his foot free before pausing to try and save the snare itself - in such lands it might be a boon he could use!

21:18, Today: Blackfoot rolled 22,7 using 5d6,2d6 with rolls of 6,2,3,5,6,4,3.  Disentangle - Base: 5; Skill: 2; Gear: 0. - [roll=1590178699.69273.340524]

Re: On the other side.
Rhogar the mighty hunter came upon some game during the 2nd quarter day. A terrific example of a field mouse, as he was about to throw a rock at it a crow flew close by and scared it away. Then started cawing and making a nuisance of itself, so he readied his bow at it instead. Taking aim and releasing his arrow which struck the crow but the bowstring snapped and started to fray, not to mention leaving a bruise on his forearm.

Returning to the cave with his prized kill, where he was able to eat crow, save some feathers and the wing bones for later crafting ideas.

"I think I found the crow you encountered earlier, you wont be encountering him anymore. Damn bird was tricky though even in death he damaged me bow and arm. Why I like me trusty axe, a good solid piece of metal to drive through someone's skull."

pushed marksmanship earned 2wp and killed crow, damaging bow in process.

Re: On the other side.
During the 3rd quarter day Rhogar spends his time crafting a game call from the wing bone of the crow.

" Crow was annoying to us in life let us see if we can make him helpful to us in death." tries a few sounds and combinations out of the call. " He sounds better this way for sure, maybe if I use it right when I am with Greyband he can find water from stone while foraging."

on phone but craft roll had 3 success for the game call.

Re: On the other side.
Returning to the cave, Blackfoot holds up the snare that had entangled him, tossing it to Tasser, "Someone else hunted nearby. Hopefully, this belonged to one of your companions? If not, there are others nearby"

Is the snare usable?

Whilst Rhogar works on the game caller, he heads out again, seeking richer prey with a scowl

08:04, Today: Blackfoot rolled 14,5 using 3d6,1d6 with rolls of 5,4,5,5.  Hunting - Push. - [roll=1590303850.65855.340524]

Greyband spends the lion's share of the day foraging, with some good success, unlike the first go-round. He looks very pleased with himself, and at one point can be heard muttering something about the "hand of Fate at work."

When everyone returns, Greyband proposes that everyone get rest in the last quarter of the day while Greyband watches. "Then I can rest while you lot are out later," he suggests.

Spend quarter 2 and quarter 3 Foraging. On quarter 2, I Push successfully and get 2 successes. In Quarter 3, I get one success on first try.

12:49, Today: Greyband rolled 3,4,1,6 using 1d6,1d6,1d6,1d6 with rolls of 3,4,1,6.  Survival for Foraging, Day 2 quarter 3: Wits, Skill.
12:49, Today: Greyband rolled 3,6,4,6 using 1d6,1d6,1d6,1d6 with rolls of 3,6,4,6.  Pushing my roll: Wits, Skill.
12:49, Today: Greyband rolled 5,3,2,4 using 1d6,1d6,1d6,1d6 with rolls of 5,3,2,4.  Survival, Day 2 quarter 2: Wits, Skill.

In reply to Blackfoot (msg # 100):

Yeah the snare is usable, unless that's what you damaged. If so Rhogar should be able to repair if he does take the Master of the Hunt talent.

14:08, Today: GM rolled 4 using 1d6 ((4)).

Trap!(again)

On Blackfoot's return to the cave he snags his foot in yet another snare, identical to the last and hidden just as well... One point damage to strength and another Mobility roll to free yourself.

"Blackfoot, can I have one of those snares? I can  make you a game call later when I get more time, it should increase our chances when we hunt separately." Looks around at the others. "I suggest that we explore the terrain around our camp, to see if  anything is of interest or  has any resources that we can  use to make our camp better. After a day we can return here hunt and rest up then maybe go back towards the  wall and see about any new recruits."

Re: On the other side.
Blackfoot tossed one of the snares to Rhogar, tucking the second into his belt for now and chuckling sourly, "Perhaps my hunting was more successful than I thought"

His belly rumbled as he chewed on some of the wild garlic that Rhogar had found, his lips parched, "We need to find somewhere to refill our waterskins and better hunting then one half-starved crow and  a few roots and tubers. We might forage once most have slept-" and he nodded in thanks for Greyband for offering to take the evening watch "- and perhaps explore first thing in better light?"

Good with the proposed next steps: Sleep in the Evening quarter, then either Forage, Hunt or Explore in the Night and Morning

Greyband laughs and lifts a full waterskin. "Already done. Found some good roots and edibles earlier, then spent the last three hours getting water.

"And agreed on your proposal. I want to see more of our new home, here."

To be clear: I Foraged for FOOD for the first quarter-day, then Foraged for WATER the second quarter-day.

Dawn's pink light suffused the cave as Blackfoot and Tasser returned, flushed with success and each carrying a tough hairy hide. Blackfoot grinned, "We were successful, enough for today."

Successfully brought down a Boar in his Night hunt, retrieving 4 Meat and 2 Pelts; he and Tasser will consume the Meat for the previous day and the one dawning (so neither risk Hungry until the next day). Equally consumed Water with no decrease in the Resource die

Rhogar saved his crow for the morning meal, after which he slept for the night, awakened by Blackfoot return  with his successful hunt. Consuming the crow for his morning meal,  something about that crow was just annoying the back of  his throat. " I understand your dilema the other day while foraging and the crow wouldn't leave you alone. Damn bird is tough and is real annoying to swallow to. I guess just a  tough bird to swallow."
Rhogar was drinking  more than he normally did just to get the crow down his  throat.

Crow is good for food for today, my new water went from a  d12 to a d10 DAmn Crow Pain in the Ass even  in death..

Blackfoot laughed, directing Tasser to lay out the hides and clear out the embers of the fire: it was a test, to see how he responded to both the inclusion and the commands. glancing between Greyband and Rhogar, his laughter fading to a chuckle, "Do we try for this settlement east? Or hunt some more? We have little to prepare what we keep, and little reason to suggest there is value in the lands surrounding the cave without much work"

Re: On the other side.
In the morning Quarter day while Blackfoot rested for his talent. Rhogar went out to test his new abilities in hunting, which seemed to be working quite well although he managed to damaged the used snare which Blackfoot had given him earlier.

It was a used snare anyway on its final legs, will need to fix it later when I get the chance.

Rhogar found a rabbit fairly quickly and was quite pleased with himself, wanting more he continued in his search. Next he found a boar rubbing itself against a tree, he lined up his shot but the arrow went wild. Damn, I was to exited I guess this is what the term deer fever meant. This has been my biggest game I ever stalked.

The boar took offense at becoming a pin cushion so he decided to attack the interloper.

11:05, Today: Rhogar rolled 10,10,5 using 2d6,2d6,2d6 with rolls of 6,4,6,4,1,4.  Push Hunting.

11:04, Today: Rhogar rolled 11,2,6 using 3d6,2d6,2d6 with rolls of 2,3,6,1,1,4,2.  Hunting, Master and gear.

11:15, Today: Rhogar rolled 2,5 using 1d6,1d6 with rolls of 2,5.  Hunting terrian for roll and push.

Hunting 3 success with 1 WP and a damaged snare

11:20, Today: Rhogar rolled 3 using 1d6 with rolls of 3.  Hunting 1.
11:20, Today: Rhogar rolled 5 using 1d6 with rolls of 5.  hunting 2.
11:22, Today: Rhogar rolled 10,3,3 using 3d6,1d6,1d6 with rolls of 3,5,2,3,3.  Push hunt on boar.

11:21, Today: Rhogar rolled 12,4,4 using 3d6,1d6,1d6 with rolls of 2,5,5,4,4.  Boar Hunt.

Re: On the other side.
Rhogar calmly stood his ground as the boar charged him. Dropping his bow and readying his trusty axe, as the boar finally ended his maddening charge just short of his body. Swiftly striking with his axe a tremendous blow killing the boar. "Always did prefer the axe to a bow anyway."

Quickly dressing the boar for transport back to the cave. On the way back he saw a fox which was hunting as well.

At the cave, he entered as Blackfoot was waking up. "Hunting was good, I got a boar also so it looks like I am one annoying crow ahead of you."

Re: On the other side.
The party sets out east after a nights rest, and bellies full of wild boar. The further eastwards they travel the lands seem more "lush", nothing inviting mind you, there is still a persistent sense of danger always in the air, but more green now than the mountainous browns and greys from where they started. After some time of uneventful travelling thru the woods a low rumbling can be heard in front of them. A lone wolf sets out and begins to growl... Rhogar approaches slowly, attempting to calm the beast however it does not appear to be in a good mood...
