Re: State of Affairs

So my stage is (was?) 1b, which means that all the known cancer was removed with the surgery, with a less than 5% chance of a recurrence.  Also, I get to do my follow up (visits every three months for two years, then every six months for two more years and finally in the fifth year back to annual visits) with the local gyn instead of the 80 miles away gyn-oncologist.

Excellent! Glad you are recovering!

I'm losing a player to liver cancer in one of my games :-( Said she's staying though for now. She's in hospice now. So sad!

Re: State of Affairs

Hope everyone's doing well.

I am still working through another media event. I have a few under my belt now, but I still feel uncomfortable with them.

I am earnestly considering finding another company to work with.

But those are just my thoughts spoken out loud.

After paying a bit more attention to the XP awards in this game, I have decided to change the awards to a "milestone" convention. Much simpler and easier for everyone, and no need to worry about who killed what and how many coins have been earned.

And I'll also be moving the awards up so the leveling can happen a bit faster. Otherwise we'll be here until we're gray in the hair and long in the tooth.

Thumbs up!  This method has a side effect, too, in helping you notice if and when one's storytelling has reached a natural end point.

Otherwise we'll be here until we're gray in the hair and long in the tooth.

Sigh.  Some of us already are :P  *wheeze*

Re: State of Affairs

I don't have to have chemo.  I will be seeing the gyn every three months for the next two years (appointment already made for September).  Then it goes to every six months for the next two years after that, and then after that I will be going back to annual visits.

Re: State of Affairs

Yes, I had my follow up, and got an all clear.  I thought about posting here, but didn't want to get too many people's hopes up by seeing the 'new post' indicator.

I am contemplating a new game (running it, that is), still kind of kicking around the parameters, but it would be one of my mostly 2nd ed AD&D (occasional bits of 1st ed added back in because I think it's better), with a significant revision to magic.

Essential premise is that the PCs were once 20th level characters who got caught up in a "stop the apocalypse" kind of event and have been thrown back in time and knocked back to 1st level.  They still retain some memories of the event, and are going to adventure forward to try to fix things so that the future event doesn't happen.  Of course, adventuring being what it is, that doesn't mean that their efforts won't result in new problems that threaten the continuation of the world.

I've got a ways to go on getting things ready for play ...  I'll probably drop a link to the game (or request permission from the DM here, should he return) in this thread when it's ready to go.

Re: State of Affairs

Hello Guys and Gals,

Yeah, I am still around. Things have been super busy, and I am managing to keep my head above the water at work. The kicker is that I have a new lady in my life, and as you can understand, priorities have been changing.

Now, I remember everyone was in the entry shaft working on removing the skeletons. My broadcasting at work was getting in the way, so I had to stop paying attention to the game (not just this one, but all my player games as well). Things have calmed down, but I am not entirely certain how to manage my desire to pay attention to my new lady friend and this game. I assure you that if push comes to shove, this game loses the draw. LOL. =D

But let me see what I can do. I will read up on the posts, check on my stored art assets, and battle notes to see where things are. I also noticed I had been earnestly neglecting the other bookkeeping posts. I will need to re-read quite a bit to catch up.

Give me a few days to see where I can jump in and what I can do.

Please let me know how you feel about this and if you still have any desire to pick up where your characters left off.
