Round 3, PCs
Angus approaches carefully, but not without courage, to the core of the fight, spell at the ready for what he foresees would be the eventual arrival of enemy reinforcements.
Phelan, having set aside her crossbow, dives right into the fight, axe swinging. However, it is a pitched fight, and her team mates are almost shoulder to shoulder. Her swing doesn't have the luxury of a wide berth, and hits with a measure of caution, only causing a moderate cut. The orc grunts in pain, and focuses his attention on the dwarf.
On the other side of the clearing,
Aila continues her dance with her battle partner. Her feints and guarded swings have been precisely that, guarded. The dance continues. Her quips, however, don't go unnoticed.

There is wisdom in releasing a tool that was not producing results with
Petar joining the line making an immediate difference, a flurry of blows taking the orc by surprise. His slow and ponderous axe demands space and recovery, of which he gets neither, and he succumbs to lethal cuts across much of his body. He falls, unconscious and dead, to the fate of battle.
Marille, now surrounded by allies, smiles ferociously, but takes a bad step and loses her balance. It takes all her attention to regain it, and whatever opportunity she had at the moment would have to wait.
20:29, Today: Game Master rolled 1,1 using 1d20,1d8 ((1,1)). Wow, that was a particularly bad roll.
Camille watches her target fall to the deft strikes of Petar. She takes a moment to look at the elf, and she nods at him with an approving smile. The moment, however, is short lived as she carries her fight onward, leaving enough space for Petar to join between her and Marille.
"And this one! Is for you!"
20:35, Today: Game Master rolled 16,3 using 1d20,1d8 ((16,3)).
Her swing meets her mark, crushing the upper arm and shoulder of the orc before her. He cries out in pain, and begins to take defensive steps backwards.
Sowen is feeling relieved that he has good backup, with allies to the left and right of him. Bolstered by the company, he challenges the orc before him with a battle cry, swinging in overhead cuts, keeping it at bay.
Well, RPoL is down right now, so instead of using the die roller I have to slum it with actual dice. How barbaric! =)
Sowen rolls a 17 to hit, and 8 for damage on Orc 4.
The sword finds its mark on the orc's head, carving a deep break through its bone. The impact is bloody, brutal, and decisive. The orc collapses to the ground immediately.
Olagh, now almost out of targets, and almost entirely isolated on the wrong side of the line, grabs the remainder of his arrows back into the quiver, stands, and repositions himself westward, closer to the fight. From there he takes aim at the closest orc to him (Orc 3) and fires a standing shot at close range.
20:55, Today: Game Master rolled 18,4 using 1d20,1d6.
The shot flies true and hits the orc in the gut, cleanly piercing through leather, skin, and organs. It collapses to its knees, and falls, knowing it's been mortally wounded. It is out of the fight.
Only two orcs remain standing: one with Aila, and one with the battle line. It does not look good for the orcs. Both remaining orcs are doing 'fighting withdrawals'. If you approach for melee, they will strike before you.

I shall post for the orc round tomorrow morning, as the opportunity arises. So far, the PCs have done pretty well, despite some pretty lousy rolls at the start.
