Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
For some of you the journey was long; very long. For some of you the journey was hard. No matter your reason, the journey was coming to a close. As you each approach the last stretch of road to your destination, you notice a few other travelers on the road.

Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
The trail of dust kicked up by the sprinting armored creature dissipated as he slowed down.  Even he was able to see that the dragon had outdistanced even him by a long shot.  His dull blue glowing eyes still scanned the sky for a bit longer before he groaned in frustration.  Only then would he finally begin to gaze about the path around him as if noticing where he was for the first time. His large two handed maul resting on his shoulder balanced there by one hand, he would wave the other in greeting and his facial features would shift to mimic a smile should anyone catch his eye.

"Hello!"

In the road, their ride's a lone dwarf, hair red as blood wondering the road, then stops and unsaddles from his steed, and looks towards the horizon,"So this looks to be the last end of my trip. Just a couple more roads to go and the quest begins. But first..." the Dwarf then grab a bottle from the saddle and sits on the ground to take a swig,"Ah, nothing beats a good ale when reaching your destination. Am I right tin can... Huh!" he says just noticing the metallic armored individual next to him and a bunch of travellers just appearing,"Huh, guess I'm not the only one traveling to Greenest, what an odd group."

Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
Striding down the road at a casual pace was a young man in a well-kept white shirt worn atop a dark leather underlayer and dark pants. His boots, unlike his shirt, were dirty from traveling on foot for so long. Although he appeared to be human from a distance, a closer inspection as he neared would hint at elven traits in his lineage as well. Rumors and good fortune urged him towards the small town of Greenest. The sight of the dwarf and a large metal figure gave him pause. He put away the gold piece he had been turning around in his hand and approached. A friendly smile accompanied his greeting, though he did not get too close just yet... just in case. "Hello there! I see I'm not the only one fortunate enough to be traveling on such a beautiful day." He slowed his pace a bit to see how they responded before approaching any closer.

Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
Perhaps the strangest form of all joined them. The towering but lithe Tabaxi strolled up without a care in the world. Her catlike head and tail, clawed hands and paws were easily noticed, as well as her golden mane. She wore plated armor and was well-armed. Prominently displayed was a red tabard of golden crossed scimitars, the mark of the Waning Moons mercenary company for those that knew it. Red war paint was applied to her face, and her mane had many colorful stones and beads braided in it. She was carrying a shield and longsword but at the moment seemed totally at ease as she looked over the others on the road. The dwarf and half-elf were nothing special, but the man in full plate with the maul was a warrior of sorts, and the first being in a long time to be taller then herself. And a being it was, for Radiza quickly noticed that there was no man under that armor. A... golem? She had never met a golem before. That must be what it's like for people to meet her. There might be only a handful of Tabaxi wandering these lands after all. Well. Time for introductions.

"Hail and well met travelers!" The feline beamed gregariously with arms thrown wide. "I am Radiza, mercenary of the elite Waning Moons mercenary company!" She came closer, looking over the warforged and noticing a detail. "Ho ho, what's this? Three fingers? All that trouble to make a pretty golem and they only give it three fingers a hand?" She then began circling the warforged, not giving much in the way of personal space to something she believed to be merely a curious object and looked at the wooden parts, guessing that was needed for where rigid plate would get in the way. "Hmm, smart.." When the circle was complete, she looked the group over again,, coming to her conclusions. "Neither of you two looks like the wizardly type. So golem, who made you?"

The dwarf strokes his beard, gives a smile to the very strange travelers and takes another sip of his bottle of ale,"Hello their, I see that we've been gathered here. Whether it be fate or the Gods work, I would wholeheartedly accept some aid, the name is Banelin Bran, Ja..." he says and immediately stops himself,"I mean, uhm, Wandering Knight of the Dwarffather. Pray tell, have all of you come here to deal with an organization called the Cult of the Dragon or at least to find out if they exist." he says, eying the newcomers, especially the tabaxi, curiously.

"What? Cults? No, nooooo, no. I am on my way to help some cats. Maybe here, but else in Baldur's Gate. No cults. Not unless someone pays me, that is, eh? Not that one would hire mercenaries to deal with cultists. Unless they are an army of cultists." The Tabaxi shrugged off the weird line of reasoning. She clearly had nothing to do with any cult, and wasn't hired to deal with it. And what was that about helping cats?
"Besides, that's more a matter for whatever authorities are in charge in these parts, right? Did they hire you?"

Banelin shakes his head,"No, I'm mostly here to do a favor for an old drinking buddy from the Order of the Gauntlet. Theirs been rumors of this cult being very active in the town, that I presume your all going so be very cautious." he says, and looks at the tabaxi with confusion,"Forgive me, but I don't know much of your kind and your ways, especially protecting cats. But I do know how mercenaries work, I don't have much gold to pay for your services but I know for certain that the road is paid with blood and gold. If we work together I'll give you the gold, so long as my axe have the blood." he says, gripping his hand tightly on a battle worked axe on his backpack.

Radiza seemed unsure about the offer of employment, but remained her enthusiastic self as she enthusiastically informed the dwarf of the way things were, clearly proud of her career choice.
"Tabaxi! That's what we're called. And.. well, the cat bit is a long story. But never mind that, mercenaries are quite expensive you know? We're hired by people with deep pockets to fight their wars for them. We're not some caravan guards who might not see trouble for months on end. We earn enough in a few weeks to last us a year or more. So unless your friend lined your pockets, I am not sure you could afford it."

Spoiler for Prices of mercenaries in the Realms: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
For reference on prices of Mercenaries in the Realms: The Order of the Blue Boar from nearby Amn charged five gold pieces per day for each member, plus an initial finder's fee of 700 gp. There were far cheaper options. If one didn't mind hiring goblins and other monstrous races, one could hire the Chill for a mere 500 gold a week for a force of 650 members. Naturally, they are quite inferior in quality.

Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
At the mention of Golem, the armored creature watched the tabaxi tilting his head a bit and the eyebrow portions of his face raised up a bit on the left side only as she circled him.  He wasn't sure what to make of her--he had never seen her kind before.  "I'm not a...  uh...  What's a golem?"  He replied, a deep baritone voice coming from the supposed golem.  a hand reaching up to scratch his head and then he found himself staring at his own hand a moment.  Then he shrugged to Radiza.  "I'm Newman.  I don't remember if anyone built me.  I've always had three fingers on each hand."

Overhearing Radiza speak to the others also crowding around now he smiled a bit.  "A tabaxi. Neat." he muttered mostly to himself with a little chuckle.  Listening to the dwarf speak the warforged pointed a finger in general direction of towards the town of Greenest though he was more pointing towards the sky.  "I was following the... dragon."  His face seemed to take on a momentary scowl at the word.  "But it got away.  Are you following it too?"

"Dragon?" The young half-elf approached the gathering group as they seemed welcoming enough. "Do tell." Suddenly this chance meeting became even more interesting. ...Eli Reiner, Dragon Slayer... He grinned as he tested the title in his mind. It had a ring to it.

Radiza seemed similarly intrigued. Her tail certainly swished restlessly as she gave the metal man her full attention. Two curiosities in one day, how exciting!

Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
Nearly a month into her journey and the excitement of the adventure was already wearing thin. All Lisica wanted was to get to Greenest so she could rest for a moment. She’d been traveling with another small party until their paths split the day before, and after a day of her own thoughts, the sound of friendly voices added extra energy to her steps.
“Hello, travelers.” She called out by way of greeting while still some paces away. Her voice was low pitched but not unpleasant.
