Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
She had been quiet and did what she did best, listened. Their plan sounded good and she would be better helping at a distance in the first place. "I'm in, and big man there probably isn't the quietest thing either, so anything that helps us gain surprise and the initiative should work in our favor." as she look at Newman and smiled. "Everybody ready?"

"I'm not?"  Newman looked down to his feet at the mention of his lack of stealthy skills.  The warforged marched in place a few steps and then jumped up and down, each time he landed with a loud heavy thud.  A frown formed on his face.  "Oh...  You might be right."  Just as quickly his expression changed to a grin.  "I'll just have to leave no witnesses!"

The half elf smiled at Newman's word, slapping him on the back.

"Good idea big guy. no one left to argue the point and you were as stealthy as a ghost." Her tone was playful.

She looked at the others and shrugged. "What....he has a point. no one alive saw him and that's stealth, in a way."

The half elf was clearly having too much fun."C'mon Gorn....lets see what trouble we can find."

Gorn smiled at Newman's comments. "Let's get moving then. We can travel together to the end of the tunnel then Lyryian and I will move out ahead and scout the situation." as he began to move towards the tunnel entrance.

Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
Plan followed, the pair of scouts arrive at the mill just at the edge of the water. Shifting into the woods to take a scouting position, Gorn and Lyryian spot six kobolds waving torches around pre-built bonfires set around the edges of the mill. Nothing is yet set alight, but the kobolds approach closer and closer with each stomp of their screaming circle.

The rest of the party lies in wait near the river, awaiting a signal from their scouts.

Gorn, Lyryian please make either a Wisdom (Insight) or Charisma (Performance) check. You can either make it in RPoL or Roll20, but if you make it in Roll20, just note which action you're taking in the chat window. The map is available in Roll20 for everyone to review.

Lyryian moved with the group, until the apointed time where her and Gorn split from the others.  She moved with ease and when she spotted the kobolds, she stopped, her usual smile faded.

She held up her arm and observed the kobolds.

Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
Observing the kobolds' actions, Lyryian comes to the realization that they are merely making a show of starting a fire. Anytime a kobold comes near one of the built bonfire bases, it leans in and moves the torch into the stack, but never allows the base to catch. Immediately pulling it away, and continuing the screeching march. The raiders are clearly making a demonstration of starting a fire, but itís for show. A few fires are burning around the building, but they could be extinguished easily.

the half elf nodded at the ranger's thoughts. "Even if we two flank them and the rest come up as normal, then we will surprise them as their attention will be on them."

she started moving back, the smile returning to her face.

Gorn nodded and then slowly moved back down to the rest of the party. Once they got back to the rest of the party, he explained what they had seen then added, "I think Lyryian, Careena and myself, should move around to the other side of them. The three of you should move up into the edge of the woods. We will begin an attack from our side to draw their attention and when they start to move towards us, the three of you can hit them from the rear. We should be able to clear them quickly then put out the few fires they have set. We'll hit them with ranged attacks first then move to melee."

Gorn nods and signals for Careena and Lyryian to follow him. They move through the forested area and around to the far side of the mill. Once in place, "Careena, you should start off the attack with that spell of yours. Then Lyryian and I will take ranged shots at them. Once we have their attention we will attack out of the woods to draw them our way, and the other group can hit them from the rear."

Newman grinned and brandished his maul as if prepared to hit something right then.  "Ready!"  He was copying Banelin, having chosen the dwarf as a good example for the situation to mimic it seemed.

Still angry over her period of captivity, any chance to take down more of these vile creatures sent a warmth through her body. "Lead the way," as she followed after Gorn and Lyryian. "Maybe we can use their fires to cook something to eat." as her eyebrows raised. Once they reached their point of attack, Careena at Gorn's recommendation. She'd be more than happy to start any attack but she'd rather it be with her hands around the neck of one or more of them.

The hair prickled on his neck as he heard Careena's words. "Okay, let's do this." as he readied his bow. "Careena, hit them with whatever you want."

"We'll do one round then charge them. Hopefully they will be so confused we'll get in a couple hits before they figure out what hit them."

Battle plans initiated, the party gets into position to execute their plan. Gorn, Careena, and Lyryian coming in from the East end of the mill; the others preparing to enter from the woods' edge to the west.

Go ahead and roll initiative, and take a surprise round. You can skip the kobolds for the first "surprise" round, and then I will bring any of them that are left into the combat on the second round.

Careena smiled and with her eyes on Kobold F she began her incantation, "You'll love this one." as her hands moved over her head and then slowly lowered. As her incantation completed, anyone watching saw a flame-like radiance come down from above and land directly on the unsuspecting Kobold.

As Careena's spell landed on the kobold, Gorn released his attack on Kobold E. "Damned that was harsh." as he watched his arrow strike it target. Putting aside his bow he drew his swords and prepared to charge into battle.

Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
Upon seeing the attack begin, Newman took this as his cue to enter into the fray.  The bushes erupted as the large stone, metal and wood being charged right into the midst of the kobold group, his target was a hapless one who probably thought himself safe near the middle of the encampment.  Not that they would have any time to contemplate what happened as he brought the maul down with vicious precision right on top of the kobold.  Newman was taking a gamble here like before trying to weigh the better striking of the targets over his own defense for the moment.  He knew they had to get this done and fast!

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
Movement: Move to right next to Kobold C  by moving into but not out of threat areas for kobold A and B thus leaving Banelin and Mack easily accessible targets which they may flank if the so want.

Action:  Reckless attack on Kobold C.  Cannot edit the kobold HP like we could before so I could not "X" him out assuming 12 damage squished it.

11:17, Today: Newman rolled 22 using 2d20+5, dropping the lowest dice only.  reckless attack

11:21, Today: Newman rolled 12 using 2d6+3.  damage.  Had to adjust up since I goofed and accidentally had it dropping the lowest dice when I rolled.  Rolled a 6 and 3 on the dice.

Bonus action:  nothing unfortunately!

The initial launch of the surprise attack was going brilliantly as three opponents fall to attacks from the party immediately. The rest prepare to impart their share of the spring attack.

Still in the surprise round, Kobold F, E, and C are downed. It is now Lyryian, Mack, Banelin, and Gorn's turn before the remaining kobolds (if any) get an action.

Lyryian, her back up against the tree, took a small vial out of her side and applied it to a bolt of her crossbow, and placed it carefully in the hand crossbow..

Lyryian saw Gorn and Careena prepare their attacks, and she turned around the tree, lining up her enemy. She heard the whoosh of energy as the spellcaster concluded her spell, and pulled the trigger on her crossbow, releasing the bolt with accuracy.

Lyryian will apply poison on the crossbow bolt

Lyryian rolled 19 using 1d20+5.  attack - hand crossbow.

Lyryian rolled 7 using 1d6+3.  damage - hand crossbow.

must make a DC 10 Constitution saving throw or take 2 poison damage.

Mack watched the party devastate the kobolds and with only the two remaining, he decided to give the party one more advantage in the fight, playing his instrument in a light, airy melody. As the notes hit the sky, the last two kobolds fell asleep on the ground.

Casting sleep, 22hp of targets, which is enough to putt the remaining kobolds to sleep.

Banelin walks over the fallen bodies of their defeated foe,"Well that takes care of that, I'll go ahead and tie them up before they cause any trouble. Now reinforcements should come any minute now, can't wait to see their face when they see how we dispatched these guys so easily." he says and pulls out a rope to tie the two kobolds together.

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
I don't think their's a roll for tying so consider these sleeping kobolds automatically restrained till reinforcements show up.
