Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
The group seems to do as requested, loosing their weapons over the side. The man that spoke leads the group down the stairs, open palms up at waist height.

They will allow themselves to be shackled in turn, and stand to await their fate.

The apparent leader speaks up again, "If you're taking us to the keep, don't let us be seen. Again, I'm not dying over this sleepy little town."

Lyryian, holding her wound in her side, glared at the human as he spoke. "You think your in any position to make requests? My tiefling friend here wanted to kill you on sight for our wounds, and I'm more inclined to let her do it than stop her."

she holds up her bloodied hand from her wound. "Next time you may want to not attack before you give up...may put you in better stead." She walks up to the leader, looking at him eye to eye, and wipes her and on his face, her blood smeared on his face.

She then turned around and started walking for the exit.

Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
Newman stood there, lit torch still in hand as he watched the rain of weaponry come down from the loft.  He waited while their ambushers come down, his face reconfigured for a full menacing scowl, his eyes fixed on the one who seemed to be their leader.  He helped tie the men up with his rope, tying several of them together tightly to help save rope.

Something was bugging him though.  Being a little lower on the intellect side but having a decent wisdom, he was slowly piecing together what it was from hearing his companions and their new prisoners speak.  Then he had the eureka moment.  He knew what was bugging him now!

Newman let the others have their say first then in a flash stepped forward, grabbing the leader by the front of his armor and lifting the man off the ground with one hand so he could look him eye to eye, the man's face smeared with Lyrian's blood.  "This was a trap!  Who told you to make this trap for us?"  He let out a low growl before continuing.  "Tell me or I drag you right to the center of town myself!"

Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
The man barely moved when Lyryian moved to spread blood across his face. A smirk curled his lips, "It's cute you think it was a request. It was a recommendation. They'll kill you too if you're seen taking us in. But, do what you must to make you happy."

The mans eyes move to Newman, and his head tilts curiously. "The commander for this particular raid would be Langdedrosa Cyanwrath. I recommend not coming across him though. You may want to steer clear of Lennithon too."

Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
Hearing no objections from the rest of the party, Gorn will move outside. Once outside he will toss the dead bodies in the fire that is burning outside. He will then slit the throat and cut off the horns of the sleeping kobold and toss the rest of his body in the fire. Once done he will return inside, find the body of the kobold that Careena dragged inside and do the same thing, slit his throat, cut off his horns then drag his body outside and toss it on the fire.

He will then return to the inside of the building. "Which of you are cultists?" as he scans the group that had surrendered to them.

Banelin rubs his beard in Gorn's question,"Ah, I see you want us to execute the more devoted fellows. Unless you just want to interrogate them with subtle torture, I guess we could just execute the mercs and pin them to the wall as a sign that we mean business."

Gorn smiled at Banelin's perceptive comment, "I hate, no I despise being threatened. I plan to send a message to their 'leader' and they will take it to him." then turning to their prisoners. "Speak quickly or I will take my best guess." as he walked over to the one who had spoken earlier. "You seem quick to talk, which of you are, what do they call you, 'cultists'." as he got in his face, the tip of a dagger pressed against his throat.

Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
The man smiled at the dagger tip and shook his head. "Why would I tell you that when you just admitted your plan to kill us as a message?"

His eyes moved to Banelin, "Is this your first time threatening people? Small hint, 'Tell us who is the villain so we can kill you' is not the way to do it. There is no incentive to admit the truth. You're encouraging the lot of us to remain silent and see if you guess correctly. It's not a great plan."

He looks back towards "his" men, "Up to you all if you want to volunteer to die."

"Okay, then fine, if that's how you want to do this?" and with a quick shove, push the dagger up through the man's head. "Now, turning to the others. Which one of you is going to tell me who the believers are? My patience is thin and I have no problem killing all of you." as he walked over and picked up a spear.

Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
Careena felt a tingle pass through her body as she watched Gorn shove the dagger up and into the man's brain. "I guess we know where this is going." as she hobbled over and picked up one of the spears that had been thrown at them. She then grabbed one of the swords that had been thrown down and began to slice at the blunt end of the spear. Looking at the others, "You haven't figured it out yet?" as she moved towards the dead body. With a couple solid hacks, she removed the head from the body and shoved the once blunt end up through the neck. "If one of you could drag the body outside and toss it on the fire?" then looked at Gorn and shook her head. "I sure hope you know what you are doing."

Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
The half elf was a little surprised at the fact Gorn was so ruthless. She herself would have had little problem doing the job herself (Expecially since being injured), but didn't expect the ranger to go through with it.

While Careena mounted the head on a spear, she walked up beside the man. "Didn't think you had that in you....At least i know you will do what needs to be done if needed."

The woman drew out a wicked looking dagger and cleaned her nails with them as the  tiefling worked on the head. She managed a half smile at the Tiefling's last comment.

"Wether he knows or not, it's done now.  All that's left is we prepare for the storm."

She took out a vial and several bolts and starting dripping purple liquid onto the bolt tips. "This could get very interesting." She muttered

Nodding at Lyryian's words, "I'm not sure who this guy is that he spoke of, but we will need to be prepared." as she finished up putting the head on the spear. "He will definitely not come alone, they never do, but my experience has been, if you cut-off the head of the beast, the rest of the body dies along with it."

The rest of the group of prisoners remain silent in light of the absolute murder or their restrained, unarmed, colleague. They were not about to speak up as the result was their death either way. They did, however, shift as a unit down to their knees and lower their heads in complete surrender making them restrained, unarmed, and complete non-combatants.

You can make an intimidation check. Gorn with advantage for the murdering.

Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
After his "interrogation" Newman stepped away to let the others have their questions.  However he was not expecting Gorn to straight up kill the leader like that.  The warforged stood in silence as he watched Careena behead the corpse and prepare it for a rather gruesome display.  Of course he didn't have a throat to clear since he lacked the ability to breathe.  He simply mimicked a lot of mannerisms from people he had been around for a long as he could remember.  When he was about to speak he ended up making a sound somewhat akin to that of a person clearing their throat.

"Uh...  I thought we wanted prisoners?"  Newman asked, looking to Banelin since the dwarf had been helpful for these moral questions so far. "Are you people going to eat them?"

"Hmm, I don't think so, best to this out and let the rest figure out how to get their information out of them. Still though, Langdedrosa Cyanwrath and Lennithon, very peculiar names." Banelin says, rubbing his beard in thought, he then starts packing his equipment,"Anyways, we should start prepping for defenses, who knows how long back up we'll be here or when a patrol would show up. Maybe we can chop off one of those trees to make a barricade." he says, heading off to the woods.

Hearing Banelin talk, watching Gorn kill the talker/presumed leader, and being bound at the wrists one of the others clears his own throat and speaks up. "There's no patrol coming here. This was a trap for you. You've been moving around town interrupting our looting, and Langderosa wanted you stopped. This was a farce to draw you in and end you."

He shakes his head as if trying to clear stars after a severe knock on the head. "Just to stop you. All they're doing is collecting valuables for some kind of horde. I keep hearing its for the dragons. They claim they have dragon eggs in their camp.

The eyes of another man bound in the line narrow and glare towards the talker silently.

Careena walks over to the man who had just spoken and looks at the others. "Now see how easy that was." Taking out a dagger, she reached down and cut the man's restraints. "Go sit over there." as she pointed at the stairwell. "Don't make me chase you either, I'll burn you alive like I did your friend out there."

"Now, the man over there asked you a question." as she pointed towards Gorn. "Which of you are cultists." as she walked over to the man she had just released. "Answer before he does," motioning towards the freed man, "if you would like to join him."

Banelin rubs his beard in thought,"Huh, this was all a trap to lure us. Guess that means that we got nothing to worry about and defending the mill is a success. So let's wrap this up shall we, mind speaking up and answer our ranger here." he says and takes a seat on the floor,"Though we could just tie them up and let the guards handle it."

Lyryian couldn't help but smile at the clever ruse set for them. "Well, isn't that a handy thing....and a dragon loot and eggs to boot." The woman had a gleam in her eye as she allowed a half smile.

She knew facing a dragon was not smart, but the reward far outweighed the risk. She looked at the others. "If people are collecting stuff for them, then maybe there's an opportunity for us.....but later. For now the task at hand."

She looks at the men still tied up. with a sniff. "Live, die....no matter to us. What he told us you'll be defeat anyway, so tell us all, and at least we will let you live. You may even get a head stat before they find you." She smiled at Gorn. "...and if we find them first, you may yet life to see grandchildren."

Newman went to the window peering out, his eyes scanning the surroundings before looking up and scanning the sky for a minute.  He then turned surveying the prisoners, his dull blue glowing eyes falling finally to the one who had been speaking as the new group leader since Gorn had slain the other one.

He walked closer, poking the man in the chest with a large digit as if he thought his heavy footfalls and large frame before the man was not enough to gain attention.  "Hey, What happened to it?  Do you know?"  He paused as if waiting for an answer before, one of his fingers was pointed skyward.  "Where did it go?"

The man blinks as he's released, but he does manage to sit where he's told not wiling to risk his life here. When Newman approached he looked up to the sky, "The dragon?" He shrugged, "Could be anywhere in town. Could be flying out of sight waiting on instructions."

He looks over to the rest tied up, "They're not going to answer you. They answer you and they're dead. They don't answer you, you've already threatened them. They're out right now is to give you nothing and go out heroes to the cause."

"That's really a shame to hear." walking over to the group. "On your feet." as he looked at the others. "I'm tired of waiting for the townsfolk and since there's no strategic reason to remain here. We need to head back to town." looking back at their captives. "We'll turn them over to the townsfolk." He then walked over to the talkative one. "You're free to go. If I was you, I wouldn't head back to your camp. I'm sure they'll find out you talked."

As they leave the building, Gorn will place the spear with the head on it in the ground.

Re: Tyranny of Dragons: Episode 1: Greenest in Flames
Newman's face reconfigured in confusion, which was a slight frown and his head tilted to the left slightly kinda like a dog as Gorn spoke about leaving.  "I thought we were supposed to wait... here... for..."  His voice trailed off a moment as if the mental wheels were turning needed to draw more power than he could spare for speaking.  Being who and what he was, that might actually be what happened.  Finally after a few seconds he tried to tap Banelin on the shoulder.  "What if we miss the townspeople who were supposed to meet us here?  They will think we died or got lost."

Banelin gives a nod to Newman,"Newman got a point here, and besides, the town guard we'll probably arrive any minute now. So all we got to do is wait, those were the orders that was given to us after all."
