Re: OOC:

I hate to see someone go, my point in suggesting everyone take such an oath was to show the absurdity of it......that's from Qudy's point of view who is not lawful :)

I hope my post did not run Moto off.

Re: OOC:

No to worry Qudy, sometimes folks have character concepts that just don't work in practice once play begins.  It happens.  It's not anyone's fault.

Re: OOC:

In reply to Lady Quar'ssysn (msg # 73):

Maybe agreement is the wrong word, perhaps unfair situation or proposed deal? I also think that's the problem, no agreement at all. Moto is Law Evil.

Look at the situation from my character's point of veiw. A mysterious stranger (your character) invites Moto and many others to a meeting, then asks for a favor in helping her regain some kind of lost artifact. This favor is VERY high risk, granted with promise of pay off, but then your character refuses to pledge not to betray them. No offense, but why on earth would Moto (or anyone) agree to that?

I understand we are all Rping our characters and why your character may have reservations. I'm saying  Moto also has deep reservations and the fact he showed up to your invite at all was a show of faith.

In reply to Ash (msg # 75):

The character concept was fine. Moto only wanted a small token in the form of an oath, one he himself was willing to make. Moto was willing to work out a deal, Quar'ssysn was not. It's just a game, no big deal. I wish you all luck and hope you have a great adventure. :)

Re: OOC:

Moto, player to player talk for a second.  Ash is LE as well and walking into the same situation.  However, I "made up" that I was returning a long time owed favor for helping Lady Q.  We didn't come up with that together but Lady Q. did a great job running with my comment and not dashing it against the rocks.

We are 19th level.  We don't do anything for free.  We don't take things lightly.  If we were all good then we'd be doing this for the greater good (and maybe some are) ... but it is for us as players to develop our story.  I did that in the simplest way I could think.  No biggie.

My character runs an army of minions but I didn't take Leadership ... why?  Because I have no reason to tap that resource.  I'm on my own, returning a favor to someone I owe.   That's me coming up with backstory.

I'd be happy to help come up with backstory that would keep you in the game if that was your wish.  I don't mean that to be off putting or condescending at all.

To you, and your LE, contract makes sense.  With a slight adjustment you could simply say that you made an agreement with Lady Q to come help for some specific payment.  That's why you're here instead of doing something else with your life.  Again, no biggie.  The train hasn't left the track so far that it can't be recovered.

But, this is your fun too.  If this doesn't seem fun for you as a player then for sure stop.  Writing takes time away from other things and I'd hate for you to waste time writing here if it wasn't enjoyable.  :)

Re: OOC:

Everything is still salvageable.

Lady Q, the tavern is in Death's Domain
Her domain is not on material plane. Just strong and powerful souls (PCs) can see it at certain locations on the prime. It isnt actually on the prime though. Her domain is kind of like its own plane, similar to that of shadow. It allows her to travel everywhere faster than the speed of thought to collect all souls that are deemed to pass on.

But she doesnt only collect souls of the prime she collects all of them. She doesnt kill anyone. Just takes their souls when they die to wherever they go. Heaven, hell, Etc. If someone cheated someone out of life it wasnt death, she merely collects. It would be something else.

Moto I can agree to a thread that eventually links back up with the party.

Perhaps they come to your aid as you both pillage the lich lord's castle and in whoch case a truce is made.

I'd assumed for Balen as well that we all had had dealings with Lady Q sometime in our past as well, whatever they may have been.

So he's here at her call because of a past relationship of some sort with her. *shrug*

I'm good to just move on past the whole oath thing. Moto seemed super interesting so I'd hate to lose him in the game.

Alright we are starting to have a party.

Welcome everyone so far.

Lady Q will be acting as party leader, not necessarily the 'face' I don't know what she is making one hundred percent.

We actually have two liches. An amazing undead turn out!

Moto and Irena.

Everyone at least knows Lady Q as she made this party. I'll leave it to you all to decide how well. Perhaps everyone knows at least a little about each other being level 19 and all. Practically legends.

Ash and Balen assumed correctly. Everyone was supposed to know her and possibly each other.

Have we come to some point where Moto is going to be staying?   Not sure what is all being done in PMs if any joint background is being created.

The game seems to be on hold till this is settled.

Re: OOC:

I'm going to start the healing process.  Ash knows all of you.  He's worked with all of you.  He owes Lady Q. a debt that taking this mission at her request will fulfill.

Ash is a Zen Monk Archer and Lord of Nightmares.  In the dream realm he holds power over an army of nightmares.  In the Prime he's just a guy on a mission.  If it sleeps it has every right to fear Ash.

Ash is practical, always tells the truth, and never expects the same in return.  He has no family and doesn't keep "friends" in the traditional sense.  Mostly he views relationships as a means to an end...or the interview process for a new nightmare minion.

In combat he's a whirlwind of arrows and movement.  However, even though he can attack at range (quite a ways away) he spends most battles in the enemy's face.  Most notable item is his bow which draws power from the quasi-elemental plane of Ash.  Most notable skill(s) Perception and Stealth.  Ash is not a caster, but he can produce some magical effects.

These are things all PCs know (including what I've put in The Cast section)...over to you all :)

Re: OOC:

I had already told Lady Q this in PMs, but I'll provide here assuming we have adventured together.

You would know at least the basics about Qudy, he's a Half-Janni (Human other half). Rogue by profession. Well skilled in dozen or more Rogue skills including perception, stealth, disable device, use magic device, perception, acrobatics (he can easily tumble through aoo areas even when completely surrounded), sense motive, sleight of hand, bluff, diplomacy, and sense motives. He fights well with two weapons getting three attacks with both his rapier and dagger. His weapons are ghost touch, heartseeker, and keen magical blades made as a set. He has been known to feint with the rapier and strike with the dagger. He can hover while flying without problems and has been known to do that while using his longbow to pelt enemies. His bow is magical too....has to have distance and seeker to hit some things he has in the past. His armor is also ghost touch and glamored. He can Enlarge himself, or Reduce himself. He can turn invisible, He can use ethereal jaunt as well as speak with animals. While decent at fighting he usually prefers other means to accomplish his goals if it can be accomplished without fighting.

Re: OOC:

What everyone would probably know or have heard rumor of or know from encountering Balen in the past:

He is a decent man if a bit gruff and curmudgeonly. He is incredibly learned and even if he's never met anyone here directly, he knows as much about them as if he'd met them (no secrets or anything, but my lowest knowledge check on a 1 is 43, so...). He is a master of manipulating raw magic, primarily in the form of force and telekinetic effects. Balen appears to be human, even with true sight, but he's been alive for far longer than a normal human. At least two-three centuries. You do know that sometimes he appears older as he does now, others he appears younger. Some have seen him take the form of a pixie and others though his magic in the past as well.

If you want to have more connection with Balen or have good knowledge checks, let me know and I can share more.

Moto's character isn't holding anyone up. You all are free to head to the castle at any time. Irena cannot go until her character is approved. Reviewing Balen's tonight.

Kane has met Qudy and worked in the same battle but doesn't really have a personal tie.  LAdy Q he has worked with on a number of occasions.  The other if you have been in a major war or something like that then Kane would have probably been there, it's his thing.

Re: OOC:

Did anyone mention the name of the Lich Lord's domain? I can't remember if I missed it or it was just talked about without a name. If a name has not been mentioned, whoever posts next name his kingdom. His castle, including the grounds, will be 1 mile by 1 mile. The castle itself is merely 1/6 this size. Similar, but not quite, Versaillles. Just large for no reason. Gives me ample room to work with. This one won't have over 700 rooms though lol.

Yes. She isn't going to "tell" anyone about it. What happens in mortal life doesn't concern her generally. Although exceptions have been known to happen if she really likes someone.

Keep in mind, while she is sitting there watching you all and listening, she is also working at the same time. Her work never stops.

Re: OOC:

Hi guys!
Thank you for the warm welcome :)

Rhum is not done yet, so I hope you guys can carry on without me so that I dont hold up the game.

As for what Rhum is bringing to the party, besides fun and beer, is skills and some fighting capabilities.
I hope I dont step on anybodies toes when I make a rogue(unchained) with one or two levels of sorcerer. I know there is at least one rogue here already, but I hope that is fine. If not, I will change the build :)

Rhum is a half elf/half fiend that is not neccessarily evil, but balancing closely on the edge towards it.

I had hoped that maybe Rhum had done some odd jobs with Qudy, a joint heist of some kind, and most definetely have worked with or for Lady Quar'ssysn (damn, that is hard to write :p) in the past. Maybe even owing her a huge favor, such as Ash.

I am more than willing to hear you guys out if you have any opinios, as it is right at the start of creation.
