Re: OOC Discussions

Hey, you never know when you need a good mouser on the trip. There's nothing like a good mouser, and the cat that's joining you is nothing like a good mouser. ;)

2-wheel cart & one mule is fine. I was thinking 4-wheels, but 2-wheels will carry the equipment just fine.

So, the idea is that you have three riding horses & one cart. The cart will have a driver, the other characters will ride on a mount. When you have the boy, he can ride on the cart, also.

So, based on the map of Ferelden I have, Lothering is about 86 miles (based on my measurements) along the West Road from Redcliffe. Bournshire was never placed on the map (being a throwaway line in DAO), so I placed it about a 54 mile trek inland from Lothering (passing through another bannorn village about 36 miles north of Lothering). The 140 mile trek is 11 days with the cart setting the pace, giving you a 22-day round trip, not counting the time spent looking for the boy, giving you a 6-day buffer. There's also 10 days' worth of food that will be included for the boy, although you'll also have about a hundred silver for incidentals (expecting you'll pay for rooms in Lothering and other towns; they'll want anything unspent back, of course).

On a side note, it's interesting watching older shows and seeing actors you recognize. We've been running through Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes series again and, in consecutive episodes from the early 90s, saw a very young Jude Law and the actress who voiced Aveline (Joanna Roth) in DA2.

Re: OOC Discussions

Mikhail Loren:
By the way, Loran, when would you like me to become aware that you are an apostate?
This question is becoming increasingly important as we have seen on the reaction of the Chantry Mother.
It is indeed time to ponder this, I agree fully with Mikhail

Richard:
I kept Richard unaltered so he has str (driving)
BTW, that was one of the roll-based benefits of a Ferelden Freeman, the only actual choices the player made was to pick either Constitution (Stamina) or Willpower (Courage) plus any one of Contacts, Scouting or Thievery talent... apart from allocating Abilities.

Re: OOC Discussions

Sorry for the short response and lack of activity. I have a job interview coming up in a few minutes, and I've been going over my notes for it for the last couple of days. I'll get back to more regular activity after... :)

Re: OOC Discussions

This is the one issue that I have with the AGE system with regard to magic. It's entirely focused on combat spells or spell to be used in combat encounters. I wish there was a more soft magic system to help with this, but I digress.

Is Loran leading his mount, or is the horse tied to the cart?

I'll be riding in the cart with Richard, if possible. If not, I'll be trying to get back into riding horses again with this character.

Re: OOC Discussions

Folks, my wife and I are celebrating our anniversary tomorrow, so I'll likely be radio silent through Monday afternoon. That said, I got a post out, and Map 0 shows relative positions. Fost is riding his horse, so I left the icon for the horse off to the side until it's needed.

I don't think initiative rolls grant stunt points, do they?
Had that question earlier in the game.
No, the initiative roll does not grant SP

Sorry, had to edit a bit my last IC post checking speeds etc from the horse

Re: OOC Discussions

No worries on the edit, Fost.

Initiative tests do no generate Stunt Points; however, as a house rule, we note if an Initiative test would've have generated Stunt Points as a third tiebreaker (after the Dragon Die and Dexterity modifier).

Re: OOC Discussions

Hmm, trying to get a grip on the system again.

@Loran
The Arcane Lance only has a range of 16yd... you are well beyond ~30yd away, even though you moved closer

@Richard
Same, long range for your bow, -2, aim +1, so the result is 10(12) instead.
Does the Rogue Attack not take DEX (Stealth) vs PER (Seeing) or is that requirement only applicable in melee?
You also never stood up from your driver's seat. Ready just allowed the bow, you still need to notch an arrow, so 'last round' covered that.

Re: OOC Discussions

Sorry for posting early, next week prezty full.
If I take too much damage in R2 (let's make this more than 15( I'll do a full defense and move (further east/right) instead

Edit:
Also, if Mikhail kills the white one with his Arcane Bolt in R1 (nice roll) I'll attack another mabari

Don't celebrate the attack just yet. The Mabari still gets to make a Dexterity(Accrobatics) check against the spell. My Spellpower is only 14 right now.

Meh. Arcane Bolt will always hit as long as I can see even just a little bit of them. Seeking spells ho!

However, I was going to ask if Loran would want to save the doggos. We're in Fereldan, after all. Mabari are intelligent. Perhaps we need to try to save them.

Re: OOC Discussions

Thanks, Fost. I thought he had posted something, but I couldn't find it.

And, no, he can attack, but there will be negatives due to partial concealment and cover from the mount. A mass of legs and movement make it a more difficult shot.

Richard has an additional problem in that the god is also at 27 yards, just out of his short range.

As far as saving them, they're pretty feral, and certainly in attack mode, due to you gents interrupting their meal. The best you could hope for is to use your magic to scare the remaining one away.
