Re: OOC Discussions
Hey, you never know when you need a good mouser on the trip. There's nothing like a good mouser, and the cat that's joining you is nothing like a good mouser. ;)
2-wheel cart & one mule is fine. I was thinking 4-wheels, but 2-wheels will carry the equipment just fine.
So, the idea is that you have three riding horses & one cart. The cart will have a driver, the other characters will ride on a mount. When you have the boy, he can ride on the cart, also.
So, based on the map of Ferelden I have, Lothering is about 86 miles (based on my measurements) along the West Road from Redcliffe. Bournshire was never placed on the map (being a throwaway line in DAO), so I placed it about a 54 mile trek inland from Lothering (passing through another bannorn village about 36 miles north of Lothering). The 140 mile trek is 11 days with the cart setting the pace, giving you a 22-day round trip, not counting the time spent looking for the boy, giving you a 6-day buffer. There's also 10 days' worth of food that will be included for the boy, although you'll also have about a hundred silver for incidentals (expecting you'll pay for rooms in Lothering and other towns; they'll want anything unspent back, of course).
On a side note, it's interesting watching older shows and seeing actors you recognize. We've been running through Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes series again and, in consecutive episodes from the early 90s, saw a very young Jude Law and the actress who voiced Aveline (Joanna Roth) in DA2.
