Re: Open Chat

The attack on me was - Goblin,3 spear attack Bob, rolled 16,1

So should be 1 damage right its 16 and 1.

A more minor wound which pissed him off.

16,4 would be 4 damage right?

Re: Open Chat

But the post you did was 16,1 so 1 damage. That above post was verbatim and we didn't do this rounds goblin attacks yet so I didn't mix anything up - you did.

Re: Open Chat

Hello

so I'm not big on maps but just today i was introduced to this neat map app
Its really simple and it might work if you are interested.
I don't want to make the game complicated and I do not need a map to RP this game but some players need this tool and so I am willing to introduce

take a look at or game map and look under group 1
Also if anyone finds a better main map of the world out there let me know I am willing to change this up before we get to deep and there is no room to change it

Surprise, no Shield his AC was 4 then no Dex modifier so AC 5. It should have hit. The second one sorry on new pain meds and I'm just out of it when it first kicked in. I should be fine avoiding damage.

Re: Open Chat

Hi everyone, now that we are in our first combat we can weed through some rules and figure out some things.

So the different versions of D&D have many ways to handle movement, since I am not a map person for combat I like to keep things simple.

I never saw combat as standing on a 5ft square and going at it. If your thinking 3.5 D&D with 5ft shifts that's out in this game.

This doesn't mean you can just Move about and do what every you like, but if you want to tumble and leap or jump in your description that's fine as long as you understand it has no game mechanic effects.

For example the Salochin moved 20 ft and attacked, this is ok.
One goblin moved and change his target from Darimillian to Feanor who was within 20 ft and attacked, this is also ok.
Darimillian withdrawal and added 10 ft so if any goblin next round would want to attack him in melee they would have to move only and next round attack.
Since Darimillian is no longer threaten he can hide or seek cover.
Vatinius is also not in melee so he can hide and also seek cover.
Both Vatinius & Salochin still have one more round before they can attack the Goblins with the shortbows, that means in round 3 they can move the last 10ft and attack in melee at any point they can attack with missile and keep closing the gap. Keep in mind so can the goblins.

I guess the best way to say this is, you can move up to your movement once, at almost any point during a fight if the area allows it.

Re: Open Chat

When this combat is over - really need everyone's input to make sure this format is ok?
Need to know that we are all comfortable with it and fell it makes sense and if we should continue as is or make some changes for next combat.

Thanks

Re: Open Chat

Ok, so from where I see this it looks like it is:

- Group initiative (them vs us)
- Order of actions is based on order of posts (he who posts first, acts first)

That sounds easy and simple to me. I have no issues with it.

In reply to Caladin (msg # 181):

Hey Cal can I just check, we roll init at the beginning of every round by the looks? If so, you could post your roll for the next round at the bottom of your current round summary (msg #76), then the first of us to log into the game can roll for party init and know immediately if we win init or not. Just a thought :)

Re: Open Chat

I think since there’s no modifier, it makes since for you to roll both.

If we win, we go, in whatever order the players happen to post. Then you do. Repeat.

If you win, you go. Then the players go, in whatever order we happen to post. Repeat.

It would cut down on waiting for us to throw a d6 just to see if you can have the NPCs go or not.  And when we all post, but lost init, and you post the NPCs actions after ... now the posts are out of order and some handwavium needs to be applied to actions that got posted out of order.

Re: Open Chat

A change will go into effect next fight, ....
GM will rolls group initi to help speed up posting time since there is a delay as we wait to see who goes first each round. This should reduce that wait.

If group win, players post, actions happen in order of posts. Then GM posts.

If encounter wins, GM posts, then the players post, actions happen in order of posts.

let me know if this sound ok ?
