Re: OOC thread

Vorrik has all but said that he bought the zebra because he was told it would handle like a horse. He seems to have come from the direction of the River of Cradles Sun County (where I don't think horses are that common), but he may originate from some other Sun Dome temple where they train with horses.

Re: OOC thread

Yeah, I posted that message above, I re-read the IC thread and figured Thangar's comment being about Vorrik being someone who'd normally ride horses.  I considered deleting my post, but didn't.

Sorry Thangar.  RQ/Glorantha has so much history/background that I don't want to be "that guy" who's nitpicking.  Looks like I didn't read the IC thread carefully enough.  I'll try to avoid such posts in future  :)

Just checking does the sable come to us or just close enough for Norajia to see the clan markings.

It comes wandering over to your group.

Hmm, wish I knew more about animal behavior :)

Re: OOC thread

Looks like Norajia moved too soon. I interpreted Lemak riding by the sable in msg 86 as meaning it was Chaos-free.
I won't try to rewind the post, though it makes her look more ditzy and impetuous that I intended.

On the plus side,
RQGp290:
An Initiate of Chalana Arroy can identify the presence of disease in a person or thing simply by concentration
so let's assume that she has done that and avoided any items returning positive.

Re: OOC thread

Well, I don't think scorpionmen are as likely to have diseases as broo anyway.  (If this was the work of a scorpionman.)
Or I was wondering whether Norijia was going to trust in her skills as healer  :)

Re: OOC thread

She makes a pretty good healer: high CON to resist disease and +10 to knowledge skills to help treat it. Her weakness is low POW for Resurrection and Fight Disease Rune spells (which she hasn't selected). Still POW gain rolls at Holydays and things... these might improve over time.

Re: OOC thread

Hi folks, re: Combat pace-if I know your character's intentions, I will wait to roll for you for at least 24 hours, but I may need to go ahead and roll for your characters after that. Please let me know if you don't want that, I just feel that this will help keep things moving.
Also, I think if you roll to attack, parry, cast a spell, etc rolling hit location and damage would be good to have "just in case".

Re: OOC thread

Yes let's turn the combat rounds over reasonably swiftly, mostly it's common sense, unless someone needs urgent. healing or thinks a a spell that might help.

As an afterthought: Norajia's mount is probably not trained for battle (nor are those she's leading?)

(When) / Should she be making a 'ride' roll?

Good questions, I'd say only if Norajia tries something dramatic. The mounts do not like the looks of the scorpion man or that it's getting closer, but only if she tries to gallop up the side of the enclosure or something does she need to roll, otherwise she has good control of the mounts.

Re: OOC thread

Sounds reasonable, I'll roll if a scorpion man gets within strike range, or Norajia tries to move her mount within it's range (e.g. to heal somebody) or she tries to get them out of the gully.

Actually, talking about our mounts, can (or would) Lobber attack as well?  Or would the animal be too spooked by Chaos?

My take is that he'd have to be a "war animal" instead of a "riding animal" to help in this way

No worries  :)
Or perhaps if the animal was not bearing a rider and was under attack itself.

Gargle:
Combat round 2!

I don't see where the scorpion man with Lemak and Tuari had its attack...?

Gargle:
<OOC: so my interpretation of the rules (and from what I glean from the rune fixes) is that, unless splitting attacks, characters only get one melee attack per round. This case is interesting to me because Tuari had plenty of strike ranks to attack, ready a second weapon, and attack again of SR 11 or 12, but this seems to be disallowed. I'll carry over those rolls into round 3 though>

I don't have the rules with me atm, but that sounds about right.  Melee only has one attack per round, but missile weapons might allow multiple attacks.

Gargle:
<OOC: this ends the second round, I'll post round 3 tomorrow, please let me know if you want to do anything different and/or make the rolls you want to>

Subject to what the scorpion man does/causes in round 2, Lemak attacks with his dagger axe again.

Re: OOC thread

Norajia will try to monitor both combats (head on swivel time) and if anyone is incapacitated she will release the spare mounts and ride to the rescue and try to lead their mount out of melee (or if they are dismounted, drag/carry them by an arm to avoid their head bumping along the ground). Assuming she doesn't fail her ride roll...

Re: OOC thread

So Mabwe has Morokanth Martial Arts skill being a Morokanth and all that (not high). I thought it might be fun to throw that in, but whilst I can picture it, I don't know how that fits in system wise, I mean what effect a success has?

In reply to Mabwe (msg # 73):

That's interesting, so it looks like if you just make a normal claw roll and if you roll below your martial arts skill on an unarmed attack roll, you get double damage (only normal damage bonus though) as a natural outcome of your expertise.
