Still smarting from where the "Symbiote Voltron" socked his jaw, Carnage punctuates his last verbal jab by drawing back with his symbiote axe. With a bloodthirsty shriek, he swings the weapon hard at the titan's head!

Carnage launches a physical attack on Symbiote Voltron.

An axe. How predictable. How prosaic. Carnage had gained size, but his bag of tricks was still about the same as it ever was. Moon Knight slapped his oversized palms together and caught the axe between them.

Vengeance is Ours: d8
Superhuman Reflexes: d12 (see SFX)
Combat Expert: d8
SFX: Fused Might. Step up any SYMBIOTIC TITAN power for one action. If that action fails, add a die to doom pool equal to the normal rating of that power die.

Symbiote Voltron (Moon Knight) rolled 3,4,4,7,9,6 using d6,d6,d6,d8,d12,d8 ((3,4,4,7,9,6)).

Carnage's eye twitches in anger as he pushes against the "Symbiote Voltron's" grip, unable to free his axe. His eyes dart around the field, as though he fears a sudden attack from the other heroes!

Going to open it up to Daredevil and Domino. Mayhem and Spider-Man still have actions available as well.

Re: Current Mission: Maximum Carnage

Tigra stirs in Domino's arms as she slowly comes to. The colorful symbiote she wears ripples around her neck, exposing her face as she blinks slowly. She winces in pain as she tries to sit up.

"Guess that's another one I owe you, huh, Domino? Wherever we're all grabbing dinner after this, yours is on me."

The feline symbiote-sorceress wobbles to her feet, massaging her temples. She looks ready to collapse at any moment. Throwing an arm around Spider-Woman next, she half-hugs her as she leans on her for support.

"You too, Jessica. And was that... Did you just spin a web? Oh, I'm so proud of you!"

Meanwhile, Misty and the other heroes have moved back toward the baseball diamond, gaining a safe distance as the colossal symbiote titans do battle. With the combatants in such close proximity to each other, Luke Cage hesitates to lob the pumpkin bomb in his hand, though he's badly wanted to for some time.

Away from them, Carrion and Demogoblin skulk in the outfield. Though no longer allied with Carnage, they don't seem to be expecting a warm welcome into the heroes' ranks either. Each seems to be contemplating whether to fight or flee.

“Not quite, Greer. I owed you one for saving me from Morgan.” Spider-Woman smiled as she helped Greer on her feet. “I’m just glad that you’re safe.” She glanced at Domino. “Thanks, Domino.” Her friends were far and few, and she always remembered the people who helped protect them.

When Jessica saw the battle, her eyebrows rose underneath her mask. “Symbiote Voltron Vs. King Carnage. If I haven’t seen it all, I’m pretty damn close today!” She started hustling Tigra away from the giant-sized man-things. “Ladies, we’d better get the hell out of here!”

Re: Current Mission: Maximum Carnage

Domino rolled her eyes when the two heroine's started the soppy gush-works.
She had no time for this emotional bullshit, she had titan to kill.  After all, she couldn't claim her reward* if she didn't put him down.
Third time lucky, eh!
                                                 * IC bounty; or OOC experience points

"Sure," she muttered in response to 'the ladies', her attention already focusing back on the battle, "Off you go, loves.  Safety awaits, and all that shit" ... but she was already moving.

Against her better judgement, she was still working as part of a Team here, and while the bona-fide heroes were keeping the big bastard occupied, Domino intended to 'sweep the bastard off his feet'.

Racing towards the towering red and black monolith, she scooped up several of the Pumpkin Bombs;  and as Killer Carnage stepped backwards, Domino (and this is important, given the setting of this battle) 'slid into home base', tossing the Pumpkin Bombs under the goliath's feet ... so that they would detonate under his soles* and hopefully knock the bastard over.
                                                 * or 'souls' if you alike, given the suit of demons souls Carnage is currently wearing

Her mastery of Combat had never included Pumpkin Bombs before, but she'd tossed a gazillion grenades in her time ... and her experiences only hours ago told her how effective these things were.

Action:   create Complication for Carnage:  "Swept off his feet"
d6   Team Affiliation
d8   Pumpkin Bombs scene distinction
d10 Superhuman Reflexes

d8  Lady Luck on my Side  (spend 1PP for SFX)

LUCKily, I have the SFX: Second Chance.   (spend 1PP)
- rolled 4,5,2,8,8 using d6,d8,d10,d10,d8.
Spend 1PP to add another dice to my Total

Can all the Heroes use that Complication against KC?

Re: Current Mission: Maximum Carnage

Add 1d6 doom for Domino's opportunity in Msg #521.

Doom Pool: 1d8, 1d6

Still grappling with the titanic Symbiote Voltron, Kasady doesn't even seem to notice Domino as she hurtles into position. Taking aim with a handful of the pumpkin bombs littering the field, she hurls them at the colossal Carnage!

Passive attempt to withstand Domino's attack with the pumpkin bombs (Attempt to create "Swept Off His Feet" complication, Total: 21 / Effect: d10).

Solo 2d10, 1d6
Pumpkin Bombs d4 (His own trap used against him)
Superhuman Durability d10
Combat Expert d8

21:54, Today: Carnage rolled 4,7,6,1,4,5 using 1d10,1d10,1d6,1d4,1d10,1d8 ((4,7,6,1,4,5)). Carnage resists Domino's attack with the pumpkin bombs.

Total: 13
Effect: d10
Opportunties: 1 (Available first to Domino)

Domino's extraordinary success nets her a d6 push die. d6 from Carnage's Affiliation dice is eliminated from the complication. Next d10 Affiliation die steps back as Carnage takes an additional d10 of stress due to his limit:

Limit: Fire and Sonic Vulnerability. When making a reaction against fire-based or sonic-based actions, Carnage takes emotional stress equal to the effect die of the attack, regardless of whether he also takes physical stress.

Carnage's Affiliation dice stand at 1d10, 1d8. Step up 1d6 doom for Carnage's use of the "Pumpkin Bombs" scene distinction at d4.

Doom Pool: 2d8

As the pumpkin bombs explode under his feet, Carnage buckles to his knees, still pushing his axe toward his titanic enemy. Flames begin to spread up Kasady's legs, licking away at the reddish symbiote that makes up the giant's body. To his credit, Kasady doesn't scream, or cower, or even try to put out the flames. Rather, his eyes glow with a strange menace as he smiles at the Symbiote Voltron in front of him. Even as the flames send the symbiotes in his body into a screaming frenzy, the madman just grins through the pain. Perhaps it's a testament to his new demonic powers, or a mere byproduct of his own insanity-- who can guess? For his part, all Kasady bothers to say is:

"Heh. Tickles."

Note: Mechanically, I treat complications the same as stress when it comes to Large Scale Threats and Mobs. The "Swept Off His Feet" complication disappears after knocking away his Affiliation die, just like the "Psychic Feedback" complication on Symbiote Voltron in Msg #515.

Re: Current Mission: Maximum Carnage

As the symbiote titans square off, Spider-Man, Venom, and Moon Knight can sense the great strain that Mayhem is undergoing just to hold the massive Symbiote Voltron together. Pushed to her limit, it's everything she can do just to keep the colossal construct from coming apart at the seams! Without a care for her own safety, a telepathic plea to her allies might be all she can muster: a faint urging to the effect of, "Keep fighting. Don't stop. Don't let him win."

Mayhem's player has to step away from the game for now, so their action will be skipped this round.

In reply to Symbiote Voltron (Spider-Man) (msg # 526):

As flames continue to spread up Carnage's legs, beginning to incinerate the enslaved symbiotes within his colossal form, his maniacal laughter rises to a fever pitch. Without any of the usual taunting or banter, he simply focuses his power and draws the giant symbiote-axe back into his body. Still straining against the Symbiote Voltron with that hand, he draws back with the other arm-- and there, the axe re-appears! Cackling, he takes a swing at his enemy!

Reaction to attack from Symbiote Voltron (Spider-Man). (Total: 19, Effect: d8)

Solo 1d10, 1d8
Chaotic Killer d4 (Doesn't care he's on fire)
Superhuman Reflexes d10
Combat Expert d8
"Symbiote Axe" d10 asset
"Switcheroo" d10 Stunt

Spent 1d8 doom to add a "Switcheroo" d10 Stunt to Carnage's reaction roll (stepped up from 1 of Spider-Man's opportunities).

Doom Pool: 1d8

18:55, Today: Carnage rolled 3,8,3,2,*12,10,3 using 1d10,1d8,1d4,1d10,*1d18,1d10,1d10 ((3,8,3,2,12,10,3)). Carnage pulls a switcheroo on Spidey and tries to counterattack with his axe.

Total: 21
Effect: d10
Opportunities: 0

Carnage wins. Spent 1d8 doom to add a 3rd die to the total (d8 that rolled 8). Symbiote Voltron takes d10 of stress and 1d6 Affiliation is eliminated. Symbiote Voltron's Affiliation dice stand at 2d6. From Spidey's 3 opportunities in Msg #526, 1 was used to buy the stepped-up Stunt, 1 was used to counterattack Symbiote Voltron, and the remaining 1 was used to add d6 to the doom pool. Adding 1d6 doom for Carnage's use of the "Chaotic Killer" distinction at d4.

Doom Pool: 2d6

*Ignore the 12 I rolled, I entered the d8 from his Combat Expert wrong twice(!!)

The axe tears through the air, cleaving straight through one of Symbiote Voltron's arms! The giant appendage tumbles to the ground in a splash of dark ooze, as any nearby heroes narrowly dodge out of the way. As the various combatants housed inside the giant construct react to the pain of the sudden separation, Daredevil struggles to hold on as the giant he stands upon staggers back from the injury!

As Symbiote Voltron staggers from Carnage's vicious attack, Daredevil struggles to maintain his footing atop the colossal construct...

Daredevil's action skipped this round per his player's request. New round begins.

"Is that all you've got?!" laughs Kasady. "I really expected more from Spider-Man and his little friends!"

He swishes the massive symbiote-axe attached to his hand, flicking away some of his enemy's substance that stains the edge of the blade.

"It's funny, isn't it? After all that time growing up in the orphanage, I thought a family was what I needed to reach my full potential... But now I see the truth!"

As the fire continues engulfing his body, Kasady holds his hands out in front of him, flexing his fingers as if he can't believe what he's seeing. If there was ever a time he feared the flames, that time is long over!

"All our 'families' ever do in life is hold us back... Make us weak! Just look at how far I've come since I ditched those freeloaders!"

He extends his weapon again, gesturing with it to each of his enemies-- first the titan and his horned rider, then at Domino, Spider-Woman, and all the rest.

"And once we're finished here, your ol' pal Carnage is gonna do you all the same favor... by killing whatever 'family' you've got!"

There were a million options for an omnimorphic being such as a giant symbiote. Tentacles, spikes, even Carnage's favorite axe all loomed large on the list of possibilities. This close to Carnage’s feet, Domino took the to scoop up her dropped firearm as she slid into home base, not far from where King Carnage was burning and crumbling under the assault from the Symbiote Voltron.

Sliding into home base, Domino felt a warm tingle in her hand, having reclaimed her beloved gun.

Flipping up onto her feet, the Femme Fatale spun around to face the battling giants, glad to see that the hotfoot she'd given Carnage can sent him to the ground.
And from where she now stood, she noticed with a mischievous grin, allowed her a perfect view ... and shot ... right up between the flaming legs of King Carnage.

With the fire eating away at the dozens of symbiotes within his form, Kasady's suit of "symbiote armor" appears to have been badly weakened! Whereas Domino's last few spurts of gunfire had merely been absorbed by the giant, they now carve away large chunks of symbiote ooze. Though Kasady himself remains safe and unexposed somewhere inside the giant suit, he nevertheless feels the pain of his linked symbiotes as the mercenary's bullets strike them. Carnage takes his action:

As he grunts in pain from Domino's attack, Kasady's eyes dart to either side. Spotting the Symbiote Voltron's gigantic arms lying on the field, he reaches out with his lashing tentacles to pull them into his own body! As he feeds upon his enemy's substance, patches of Kasady's "armor" that had been blown apart by Neena's bullets or eaten away by fire begin to regenerate! One might have to wonder if anything can put this madman down for good!

*Spending 1d10 doom to add 1d10 to Carnage's Affiliation dice using Demon's Puppet SFX. Carnage's Affiliation dice stand at 2d10.

SFX: Demon's Puppet. Spend a d10 doom die to recover one of your Affiliation dice. If in possession of a mystic power source, you may spend a doom die of any size instead.

Doom Pool: 1d8, 4d6

"Oh, Domino, have I been neglecting you? I'll play with you once Spider-Freak and his friends are dead!"

With that, the giant rises again to his feet. Chunks of flaming symbiote rain down above Domino, forcing her to weave and dodge out of the way...

Spending 1d6 doom to activate Domino's Limit: Exhausted.

Limit: Exhausted. Shutdown Superhuman Reflexes to gain 1 PP. Activate an opportunity or participate in a Transition Scene to recover that power.

Doom Pool: 1d8, 3d6

Were it physically possible for his horrific new body to do, Kasady might be starting to break a sweat. As things are, he simply narrows his eyes and grins at "Symbiote Voltron."

"Vicious, ain't she? Surprised to see you playing "dirty pool" along with this gang of mercs and miscreants, Spider-Man. Wonder what dear old Mary Jane would think of you now?!"

Spending 1d6 to activate Symbiote Voltron's Limit: Overcrowded to change Telepathy d8 into a complication.

Limit: Overcrowded. Change any SYMBIOTIC TITAN power into a complication to gain 1 PP. Activate an opportunity or remove the complication to recover that power.

Doom Pool: 2d6

Things seem to be reaching their boiling point in this fiery pit that was once Yankee Stadium! Kasady's biggest, strongest opponent now stands a double-amputee, a huge portion of its symbiote gobbled up by Carnage. Time and again, Kasady has bounced back from even Domino's highly effective strikes, as well as Spider-Woman's mystically-charged Dragonfang slashes. And how will Spider-Man react to Kasady's vicious mockery? Though he can't see the web-slinger, Daredevil is in a prime position to sense his response... and, as always, provide his ally the moral support he might well need! Though it appears for now, the horned hero's attention is divided... And what of Tigra, who seems intent on joining the symbiotic brawl?

Reaction Needed: Symbiote Voltron (Spider-Man)
Actions Available: Daredevil, Spider-Woman, Symbiote Voltron (Spider-Man, Venom)

*I apologize if I mistakenly stated in Msg #511 that Carnage couldn't use the "Demon's Puppet" SFX anymore. According to the SFX as was written, he can still recover using a d10 doom die or greater. Having Tigra's power to drain made it easier, but he can still heal with effort.

Re: Current Mission: Maximum Carnage

Tigra begins to float toward the armless symbiote giant. As she weakly lifts a hand, her own symbiote begins to elongate from her fingertips while she reaches toward her companions.

"I... can... help!" she cries, sounding more than a bit faint. It's clear to anyone who witnessed her imprisonment by Carnage what a toll the ordeal took on her. "Need... to... join you!"

"Room For One More?" SFX available to Symbiote Voltron.

Re: Current Mission: Maximum Carnage

Venom's scratchy voice echoes out, "To Sheppard his people this one must give everything. Even if that means our individuality. We will stop at nothing. We fight for the lost. We will find you all brothers, we will share this world as family not slaves!"

Venom growls and uses some of the last drops of juice in his system from the enhancement serum to reform a whip instead of the arm to either wrap around Tigra or attach to her tendril to pull her into the group.

Team 4d6
With Great Power... d4 +1PP
Tentacles d8
SFX: Room for One more bringing in Tigra
Acrobat Expert d8

Upon re-reading this isn't as plain as I thought. He is continuing to attack the connection of the symbiotes inside Carnage over to his side while ALSO using the SFX to grab Tigra.

Re: Current Mission: Maximum Carnage

In reply to Symbiote Voltron (Venom) (msg # 539):

@Venom Note the Symbiote Voltron's 4d6 Affiliation dice were reduced to 1d6 from Carnage's previous attacks. The 4d6 Affiliation dice rolled should have been 1d6. We'll ignore it since that 6 from one was used in your total.

3d6 added to the Doom Pool from Venom's 3 opportunities. (Venom earns 3 PP's.)

Doom Pool: 5d6

Doom Pool reaction to Venom's attempt to merge with Tigra.

2d6 doom dice (Choosing not to roll the whole pool)

10:16, Today: The Watcher rolled 1,3 using 1d6,1d6 ((1,3)). Doom Pool reaction to Venom attempting to bring Tigra into the mix.

Total: 3
Effect: d4
Opportunities: 1 (Available first to Venom)

Venom wins, with his extraordinary success earning him a d6 push die. Tigra joins Symbiote Voltron and 1d6 is added back to its Affiliation dice. Symbiote Voltron's Affiliation dice stand at 2d6.

From Room For One More SFX, the next player acting for Symbiote Voltron may step up a Specialty die of their choosing.

The symbiote-lasso shoots out from the titan's torso, wrapping itself around Tigra and pulling her into the mass of merged heroes. Standing nearby, Spider-Woman spies her chance to get atop the titan if she so wishes-- by grabbing hold of the "whip" and being pulled along in its wake! Whatever she chooses, she and Daredevil stand ready to offer their support to Spider-Man and the others within the giant!
