Re: OOC Discussion

Will we have different Doom Pools for each scene?
Or will every scene increase the Doom Pool for everyone?

In reply to Domino (msg # 76):

I responded in my last game post, but I'll include it here too just in case:

"Interestingly, I learned recently that the Watcher doesn't have to roll the entire doom pool when opposing the players with it. While I would normally go all-out in a high-stakes scenario, I'm going to try experimenting with having the doom dice rolled reflect the risk level of the scene/action."

So I ended up only rolling 2d6 against you instead of the 1d10, 1d8, and 2d6 the doom pool contained at the time you rolled. This seems like a good way to account for different scenes/actions not necessarily having the same threat level.

Seems like there's always something new to learn with MHR. Must be why I've had fun playing it for so long.

That was a real flurry of activity we had yesterday. +2 bonus XP to Daredevil, Domino, Moon Knight, Spider-Man, and Tigra for some excellent game posts all in the same day. Ghost Rider, if you jump in within the next day or so, I'll award it to you as well.

Thanks! I did a quick prose edit to remove some of the instances of "highway" in that first paragraph and make it more readable. :)

Re: OOC Discussion

@Ghost Rider Woohoo!

@DD You read my mind... Update coming soon. ;)

Thanks everyone for your patience in getting to the next big scene(s). Hoping everyone will find it worth the wait.

Did anyone want to jump on the offer of using an additional set of milestones in Act II? Last I checked, DD, Tigra, and Ghost Rider all have 2 on top of the event milestones. Domino, Moon Knight, and Spidey are welcome to use their original 2nd sets if they would like, or run some custom ones by me.

Re: OOC Discussion

@Daredevil and Spider-Man FYI, DD: your Venom asset is persistent since you paid the 1 PP to make it so. Spidey: you have the option of doing the same with the Doppelganger asset if you'd like to.

I hope the text explained it sufficiently, but if not-- basically Venom and Doppel will do what you guys tell them to during this scene (within reason). Use the assets just as you would any kind of normal asset, eg. a weapon or extra advantage. The d12 and d6 asset dice reflect their "effectiveness" in carrying out whatever command you give them. Assume that if the assets are removed or destroyed, it just means that your ability to give the characters orders has gone away (most likely due to them being separated from you, distance/noise interfering, etc.).

If any clarification is needed, let me know. I'll be setting up the stadium scene properly after seeing to Domino/Moon Knight's scene.

Sorry for my tardiness, Folk.   As a member of my cities police force, I am working extra shifts during this time of stress and protests.
I’ll try to get a post in soon.

Re: OOC Discussion

Keep me honest: Can I allow Ghost Rider to be caught by Tigra's Crimson Bands of Cytorrak without defending myself because I think that would be good for the story?

Re: OOC Discussion

@Ghost Rider I had to give it some thought, but here's my ruling on it:

I'd like for you to still roll a reaction, but you're by no means obligated to use your optimal dice pool. Use whatever dice you feel may lead you to the desired outcome-- maybe GR realizes he's part of this Team (d6) instead of being Solo (d10). Use a negative distinction. If he's not resisting, don't use any power traits or SFX. And if your specialties don't apply to this action, leave those out too.

If you didn't roll any reaction, I would treat it as though your total was 0, meaning Tigra wins with 2 extraordinary successes-- stepping up her d10 effect die past d12 and effectively one-shotting you (Ouch!). It could still happen with a crap roll, but at least the core element of risk/chance is there.

Re: OOC Discussion

Rules question: If there are only two dice left in a dice action, is it mandatory that they become the Total, leaving no Effect die, to become a d4 default Effect, or can you choose to make one the Total and one the Effect? (Tragically unfortunate, but it happens.) Or if there is just one die left, can it be used as the Effect, leaving a Total of 0?

If GR is seen as a hostile element for the moment, but we all know he's usually a good guy, is he considered part of our Team or is he still Solo, for Affiliation purposes?

Re: OOC Discussion

@Daredevil In response to your first question, I would leave it up to the player to decide. Part of the fun of this game system is being able to strategize with how you use your dice. This may go against the official rules, but I think it would be beneficial to the game. Having a higher effect die than the opposition results in their effect die stepping back, which can take the sting out of a bad roll (and make the game less "swingy" which IMO is one of its only weaknesses).

Re: Affiliations, I would count Ghost Rider as Team during this exact moment, as he has (for the moment) ceased to be actively hostile. If, say, on his next turn he goes on the offensive again, he'd go back to being Solo.

Can I just team up with Tigra and we can kick everybody else's butt into surrender? I mean, Buddy would give me a D8. :D

Now there's a scary thought. :P

Carnage and Shriek are a pretty destructive team-up, but looks like they've gained some competition in their absence! Guess it's time they reminded everyone what a real power couple looks like...

Re: OOC Discussion

@Domino - hope everything is well. Take care out there.

@Ghost Rider - hello and welcome! In a time and place where Tigra is possessed by a demon, it would be awesome to team up with Ghost Rider and destroy everything and everyone!

My schedule has changed a bit, so I'll be able to reply more often during weekdays along with weekends. I wanna see what happens next! :)
