Not gonna lie, Daredevil's lack of sight has tripped me up so many times when running MHR in the past. "You guys enter a room and see-- except Daredevil-- a bunch of supervillains sitting at the bar. The head villain is wearing a purple costume (not that Daredevil notices). He gestures to a photograph hanging on the wall (which Daredevil can't see), etc. etc."

Just saying, if he miraculously regains his vision at some point in this campaign, don't be overly shocked. :P

On the other hand, Daredevil's player could just as easily translate what Matt 'sees' with his radar sense, which may be more insightful than those of us without super-senses.

DD sees better than anyone; it's a handicap that makes him interesting. And hopefully there won't be anything about him getting his sight back while I'm playing him because those are lazy stories. Though I won't deny that it can be a pain to always have to remember that DD can't see anything with his eyes, it's been a great writing challenge.

Yeah, we mainly played those Watcher slip-ups for laughs in my old campaign. I think my players knew I meant DD was "seeing" figuratively, but it was good practice for me to think in more literal terms.

The comment about him getting his sight back was 100% made in jest. I'm aware those DD stories exist but never gotten around to reading any. His unique powers are the most interesting thing about him for me and the idea of him without them seems boring.

Don't bother getting to the stories where DD gains vision. They're all bad.

Hello Kitty,  welcome aboard.

I can't wait for Dom to get another shot at Carnage ... its funny that, after seeing her shoot people to protect herself, that he thinks she'll hesitate to 'shoot the hostage' to get at him.

Also looking forward to the chastisement from the 'real good guys' when this is done ... hero vs mercenary talks are some fun.

In reply to The Watcher (msg # 1):

@Daredevil: I think there was one recently where DD even got Heimdall's super-Asgard-vision? (I'm not motivated enough to look it up.)

@Domino: Seems like Carnage was banking on a distinction between killing rioters in self-defense (arguably justifiable if not heroic) vs. shooting an innocent non-rioting hostage just to get to the bad guy. Of course Domino doesn't have to play his game, but you bet she'll have a lot to answer for! (The Watcher is counting on it...)

@Spider-Man Yes, you'll be last in the turn order. We'll skip Dagger and Hawkeye for now (Doesn't look like their players will be joining, I may just turn them into Watcher characters later on).

I've updated the status tracker to reflect the current group of players. If I hear anything from Dagger, Hawkeye and Morbius' players I will add them back in.

I've added a "Milestone / XP Tracker" thread for anyone who wants to view all the player milestones and earned XP in one place. Mostly it's for my own reference, but you guys may find it useful too. Next thing I'll be adding are unlockables for you guys!

FYI, Spider-Man's player has dropped. We'll keep him in as a Watcher character seeing as this is based on a Spidey event. ;)

Hello Tigra.
So, you're the woman with the plan ... lead the way.

I get that we are 'going after the bad guys', but Domino has no way of doing that, so am waiting to hear your plan.  I am assuming it will involve magic.

Or, maybe, I could have use Combat or Covert to have Tracked them?  Watcher?

@Domino: The Covert specialty can be used to track them down, yes. The Basic Game manual describes it as including detective skills.

In reply to Domino (msg # 18):

@Domino

I think since we both have covert, we can take turns finding them if one of us get a low roll. I'm not sure what'll be in store for us since we're in a transition scene. I just rolled with covert to try to track Carnage down.

Since Tigra is pretty new with magic I will mostly be using that as assets in order to help out Domino's development. I am focusing more on character relationships and networking due to Tigra being a d10 for team. So Tigra may be more of an annoyance to Domino in this case since Domino doesn't seem to be the  connecting type.

So I guess, Tigra's roll is an 'Aid' action to Domino ... who will lead the effort to track the bad guy.

This is true ... but Domino is a decent 'buddy' to have, and as the two seem be working this alone, while the other heroes do 'civilian rescue' stuff (and maybe go find this Grandfather in Trouble) ...

Re: OOC Discussion

What are everyone's thoughts on romance in RPG's? It's something that's only just now come up and I don't have much opinion on it myself. I threw together a few questions for players to answer that can hopefully give me a better idea:

1) Generally speaking, would you be interested to have elements of romance in the plot of Marvel Mania?

2) If yes to the above, are you interested to have the possibility of romance between player characters?

3) If yes to the above, how would you prefer to establish relationships between player characters? (Decide it beforehand through OOC discussion? Figure it out through play as we go? Use whatever's on the character sheets? Something else?)

4) If the character sheet you are using has references to past/current relationships, do you consider them "canon" to your version of the character? If so, which ones?

5) If you have ever played a character with romance-themed milestones, did you use them or swap them out for different ones?

You can PM me your answers to these questions if you prefer.

As a more general PSA, I want to let everyone know that no one is 100% beholden to what's on their character sheet biography. With characters like these that have evolved over decades of different continuities, it's OK if your idea of the character is different. As long as you stay true to the origin and general essence of the character, there's room to be flexible.
