Greetings! I won't have time to work on my character sheet until tomorrow, but I'll be playing a Ranger. I was planning to focus on ranged combat but that might change.

I'd actually pitched a few different characters in my RTJ, including a Rogue, a Paladin, and a Cleric.  So I'm sort of trusting the DM's judgment when it comes to our party composition.

Besides, Odette is going to be a fair bit of a meat shield as well with her beast forms.  Right at level 2 she can Bonus Action into a Dire Wolf with 37 HP, Pack Tactics, and the chance to knock an enemy Prone on every melee hit which is just staggering for opponents of relative level as far as a party-sized challenge is concerned.  That's all functionally phantom HP as well since all 37 hit points can get hacked away and it won't actually hurt Odette's core HP at all, so long as there's no overflow damage.  So, if need be, Odette can literally just throw herself onto a given threat and eat hits for the rest of the party if it comes right down to it.

In reply to Odette (msg # 65):

Ok, that's good to know.

Wasn't trying to imply I wanted to chaged my character, I'm excited to try a Sorcerer. I tend to be fighters or clerics so this is bit of a change of pace for me.

Just wanted to say I was willing to fill a hole if a hole needed filled.  (As long as the hole isn't a Rogue ha ha)

No worries at all.  I'm the same way - every time I apply for a game here on RPOL, I always make a handful of different characters and roles specifically so the DM can pick which one they want for the sake of party composition.  I aim to fill holes in the roster as well to make sure we've got our bases covered.

While we are pretty magic-heavy, we've really only got one pure caster so far with your Sorcerer.  Druids, Warlocks, and Rangers are a mix depending on the build, while a Barbarian and Rogue work well as core melee classes.  I wouldn't necessarily put a Rogue up on the front line defense, mind you, but that reliable Sneak Attack damage is choice.  Overall, I'd say we're pretty well-covered.

Yeah, definitely. Rogue is going to be more of a "middle-line" position, and I'll probably rely on Morrigan flanking to get off the Sneak Attack damage until I hit Lvl 3 and can just do it myself. I think having a lot of magic in the party is fine anyway, gives us a lot of versatility. We probably have a good spread of skills amongst the cast as well.

I guess the Sorcerer would probably serve as the face in social situations, but Frida also has a decent Charisma score and I did take Persuasion, so I can help on that front as well.

I think we’re well rounded too. As long as we have a CHA heavy PC to be the face of the party.

I’ll probably take a few levels in fighter for some defensive feats. Since we have a good number of dps going on I don’t have to worry too much about my damage output. I hate playing dumb characters so Mo won’t be causing too much trouble, maybe just socially...

I’m pretty much done rolling up Mo. I just need to plug it into a sheet here. Anyone got a good sheet?

I believe I'll just run straight through on Druid without dipping; Moon Druids are plenty on their own.  Though one time I did run a Land Druid/Archfey Bladelock... those two classes cooperate really well together.  Made an absolutely bonkers character.  :3

As for CHA and a party face, I will happily call "Not It", as Odette has a flat 10/+0 CHA and no related proficiencies.  She's very hyper-focused into DEX and WIS.  Need someone to be your wilderness survival guide?  Odette's your Elf.  But enjoy some witty repartee?  Nah.  She'll just go sit under a tree and stare vacantly into space for a few hours.

As for character sheets, this is the one I always use since it's very easy to read, format, and edit.  If you hit the "quote" link on this post, you'll be able to copy/paste the full code version of the character sheet as you please.

I like that sheet,  may have to steal that for the future possibly.

AS for the "face" I have a 17 CHA and a noble background, so at least for above board discussions I am probably a decent option.

For back door or underground dealings, I may not be the best option (initially, maybe he'll 'grow' into it as time goes on)

You guys are talkative! There are a lot of spellcasters in the party--I was conscious of that when I made my selections--but I think you should be fairly balanced.

Be sure to send me a PM when you get your sheet finished.

I'll try to get the first thread up for the new party tonight or tomorrow.

I think a chatty OOC is a good sign for any game, as it means the players are involved and communicative.  :3

Kovel:
(OOC not sure how you want convention here but in the past I've used purple and italic for thoughts and green for spoken words")

This is actually something worth squaring away before we really get stuck in.  I personally always reserve colored text and quotations specifically for audible speech only.  If I want my character's inner narration to be shared, I've always framed it with tildes instead of quotations, used italics, and either left it the same color as the general text or made it grey.  That way it can't possibly be mistaken for being spoken aloud.  So:

"If I'm speaking, it's framed like this." she said aloud.
~And if I'm thinking, it's like this instead.~ she thought to herself. ~Or like this.~

I've always had the "everyone pick a colour" rule. Thoughts are Italicized and still coloured.

"Do you plan on changing into a raven Ode?" Mo said, That would be cool. He thought to himself.

Perfectly fair, though I tend to avoid sharing colored text for inner monologue just in case someone else is skimming along and accidentally perceives it as spoken.

Colored text for speech is great; italicized text (whether colored or not) for thoughts is also great. Save Orange for OOC stuff like die rolls and such.

In reply to Morrigan (msg # 80):

As Ode said I wouldn't colour the italic words unless its to make them a bit lighter or darker. I was reading on my phone and had a hard time telling the difference with them coloured.

Otherwise I agree with the general that Colour for spoken and italic for thought makes sense. I'e always had orange for OOC in a post. Red was always reserved for the DM to use to make sure you saw an important OOC message.

Wow, didn't mean to cause such a ruckus.

Well, for now I'll go with purple and italicized for thoughts (no quotes), and green with quotes for speech.

I also usually bold and blue the result of my die rolls to make it easier for the DM to see.

That's good to know. I've had my first post written out for a while now but was kind of waiting to see how other people introduced their characters, as I had a part where Frida observed everybody a little bit. I'll probably edit that part some and then make my post to get things going.
