since teh idea was brilliant here is a little about Jakkaru

i came up with his name by taking an English word translating it into Japanese and then put a French accent to it.

The character is going to go back and forth between monk and cleric (i abide by the rule of cool but its nice when mechanically it works as well)

The reason for the Hawaii beach bum speech is because of a guy I met in Hawaii when i got married there a couple years ago.

in case your wondering i am play testing the class mechanically with some buddies and Monk Long Death and Cleric Death work so freaking well together and just does cool things

If you have any questions ask away :)

@damu - what makes the wizard druid spread so good in your opinion ?

Well, Druid or Cleric starting out for 1 level gives you free armor proficiency and those two classes know all of the spells they have slots for automatically. Multiclassing spellcasters together essentially shares their number of slots at each level, so leveling Wizard also gives you access to higher levels of druid/cleric spells without putting any more levels into that class. It's not as good the other way because Wizard relies on progression to learn spells. In the case of Cleric you also get a Domain ability right away at level 1.

Not that I always start Druid/Cleric and go into Wizard, but it's strong.

It's less strong on Damu since he can't use armor. Cleric is also fairly stronger for it due to the domain thing. But I wanted Faerie Fire to make my minons more accurate and despite being the spiritual leader of his now dead tribe, it was sort of a primitive nature tribe so Druid felt more right.

Also kinda adds a layer there where if he wasn't caught up in vengeance using the power of dark arts in his search for a method to revive his tribe he could have just multiclassed into cleric instead of necromancer and learned rez magic.

I apologize for the silence on my end. RL issues have my schedule all messed up. I'm hoping things will normalize next week. Sorry.

Same here for craziness. Work had another Covid scare (we employ a lot of college kids) so I have a lot more work lately. Thankfully the kid tested negative after his possible exposure but still there's a self-quarantine period.

I was actually waiting for things to proceed, because I honestly wouldn't have anything substantial to add to our guide stopping and saying "It's a quarter mile further this way. Hopefully we can still surprise them."

It would have boiled down to me just going "Yeah, hopefully." and proceeding on.

Then again I'm not a stealthy guy and my character isn't super chatty right now. I'm a turtle druid. Maybe someone would have wanted to start sneaking? I dunno

I would have poked the game myself, but I didn't notice it had been so long.

Nissa will use her Speak With Small Beasts to ask the birds if they've seen bigguns like people come and go.  And try to find any other entrances.  Are there any less used?

Greetings, everyone! We recently added several new characters to form a second party.

For the new players, here is the character creation info:

Characters will start at 1st level. Use the 27-point-buy method for generating your Ability Scores. Don't roll for starting gold but take the equipment provided by your class and background. And feel free to sell (at full price) anything you don't want. If you want to use material from a source other than the Player's Handbook or Xanathar's Guide to Everything, check with me first.

Any character sheet that is complete and easy to read is fine with me. You should all have editing privileges on your Character Details page. If you don't, let me know and I'll fix that.

This game will take place in a generic world, but we will be using the Forgotten Realms pantheon of deities.

The story will start in a rural/frontier region. If you want some of your characters to already know each other, feel free to work that out among yourselves; otherwise, you will all have the chance to meet up once the story begins.

Send me a private message when you get your character sheet finished so I can look it over. And let me know if you have any questions.

We'll start once everyone has their sheets completed.

Yay meat shield, everyone's best friend!  :3

I'll be your friendly neighborhood terrifying cryptid Druid.  If any of the cast here are in the habit of traveling the main roads, odds are they've met Odette in some manner or at least heard of her.  She has a reputation and a lot of rumors about her, to the point that most people aren't actually aware she's even an Elf.

Hi, everyone! I'm playing a Halfling Rogue who dual wields shortswords and has designs on subclassing to Swashbuckler. Here for all your lock-picking, trap-disabling, and ankle-slicing needs, and prone to picking a pocket or two. Looking forward to hiding behind the meat shield!

Cool! Cryptic Druid... like a trickster cleric only better.

Oh and a rogue! My cousin runs a swashbuckler and loves it.

Once we got our full party we should talk some battle tactics so I know how best to get in the way of damage.

I've played a few Lightfoot Halfling Swashbucklers and, yeah, they're fantastic.  Dual Wielding is pretty useful for just about any class at low levels but Halflings really make it shine.  So much goodness wrapped up in such a tiny bundle.  The only real downside is their limited movement speed, but you can take care of that with a Feat or a pair of magic boots.

For battle tactics; Odette is moderately tanky for a mixed caster.  She's got 17 AC, 10 HP, and is focused on DEX-based melee, so she can absolutely get up in the thick of things if need be.  She's a Wood Elf, so she's quick and stealthy for the sake of ambush tactics.  She's also a Circle of the Moon Druid, so she'll be a lot more viable for melee immediately at Level 2 since she'll get beast forms like Dire Wolf right away.

For spells, Odette has:

Cantrips: Guidance, Produce Flame
1st Level: Faerie Fire, Goodberry, Healing Word, Ice Knife

So a little bit of everything.  Guidance for utility, Produce Flame for a ranged damage cantrip, Faerie Fire for battle support, Goodberry and Healing Word for battle triage, and Ice Knife for a little extra oomph on the magical damage output.  I would rather save my spell slots for support and healing, so I don't plan on using too many combat spells unless we know we're going into some nasty situation ahead of time.

Druids are so awesome for versatility. Looks like we can utilize flanking and give the rogue the chance to use sneak attack often. Unfortunately I only have one spell... RAGE!!!!

Jarrik is a Dwarf raised Gnome. As of now he is a Celestial Warlock, but I plan to take him into Wizard after a few levels and focus on Illusion magic. So I'll have quite a few tricks. His also on the sneaky side and can make do as a poor mans rouge when needed. For a bit of magic I have for Cantrips: Eldritch Blast, Light, Minor Illusion, Prestidigitation
Sacred Flame. So a good bit of versitlity in that alone. I'll be able to sling a few heals in an emergency as well.

Ah, Prestidigitation - the best spell in the game and my all-time favorite.  I'm eternally gutted that not all spellcaster classes get access to it.  Druidcraft and Thaumaturgy just can't compare.

Guess I should join in ha ha.

Kovel is a half-elf Divine Soul Sorcerer with a secret.  He's of a noble family but his family has pushed him to adventure to hon his sorcerer skills "for the good of the family".  While noble, he has not been treated the same as his siblings, so he's less haughty than most nobles, but will still likely be shocked by a lot of things that the "common folk" deal with.  While not likely that he would've met up with any of the other party, if someone has a good idea for it I'd certainly be open to it.

He should be pretty helpful attack wise from a distance between his spell capabilities and a L. Crossbow. If someone gets close, it will be a bad day for him.

Spells include:
Cantrips: Fire Bolt, Minor Illusion, Prestidigitation, Spare the Dying
1st: Chaos Bolt, Mage Armor, Cure Wounds (Divine Soul)

A bit offensive for a Divine Soul possibly, but his mother insisted that he learn spells to be able to protect himself.

I'm still debating on whether to keep Minor Illusion, or change it to either Ray of Frost or Blade Ward.  I'll decide before we get to a point where it matters.

Wow, we've got a lot of casters. This is a pretty interesting party composition. It's probably good that we have some ranged damage, since I didn't take any ranged weapons for Frida (other than daggers, I guess). Since she's kind of squishy (AC 14 and 10 HP), it'll probably be a lot of dancing around Morrigan and/or Odette for me, and getting heals if I need them.
