Re: Second Delve

Being an urban fairy Melissa is no friend to spiders, having flown into a web or come face to face with something eight legged and half her size on more than a few occasions when exploring.

She nods at Fetcher approvingly and keeps her eyes out for egg sacs or other spiders hiding in the webs.

"Melissa, can you help with this?" Biror tries to identify the ring and, failing to do so, asks the help of the fairy wizard.

Biror:
"Melissa, can you help with this?"

"That looks like a ring." she says helpfully, hovering a little closer and casing a critical eye over it.

Re: Second Delve

There is no sign of any other spiders in the webs.

Melissa's spell reveals that the ring does have an enchantment.

OOC: Just a reminder about one of the House Rules:

Detect Magic: Wizards and Warrior-Wizards may normally detect magical properties of items or creatures at no expense of Wizardry. Wizards, Warrior-Wizards, and Rogues may also expend additional Wizardry to have a chance to learn the nature of the magical properties. The chance of divining the identity of the magic and the amount of detail revealed is a function of the level of the spell-caster and the amount of Wizardry expended.

Odhran shrugs and moves to check the ring. He speaks a few words and touches the ring.

"Ah, this ring increase the strength of whoever wears it; can't tell by how much though. Should be good for one of you warriors. You just need to get it off this poor fellow."

In reply to Melissa (msg # 911):

"We would hate to see you carry such a burden the entire way through these treacherous halls." Fetcher chimes in, breaking his watchful stance and holding out a hand towards Odhran. "Supposing you don't want it Odhran, perhaps it would fit my hand?" Fetcher would take the leap of faith, trusting his magically inclined friend's judgment that it's a beneficial item.

You manage to get the ring from the corpse's finger. After a bit of cleaning, Fetcher tries it on. When he does, Fetcher feels suddenly stronger.

OOC: Fetcher gains 2 STR while wearing the ring.

Re: Second Delve

Biror finds the door is simple but well built and well maintained. He checks it and sees that it is unlocked.

Opening the door reveals a well adorned and generally clean chamber, the air heavy with incense. There is a bed in one corner, two book cases filled with bound volumes and scrolls along one wall, several chests along another, and a large desk in the center of room. Several burning sticks of incense are set in holes in the desk top.

Standing next to the book cases, studying a scroll is a goblin dressed in fine purple robes. He looks up from the scroll and studies you intently.

Re: Second Delve

Biror stops in his tracks, not used to see living characters in rooms in these dungeons. He looks around carefully, wary of any traps, and attempts to address the goblin, in order to check his intentions.

"Hello there, how are you? We seem to have lost ourselves in these corridors. Would care to tell us where we are exactly?" he asks somewhat merrily, with a mild smile, giving way to the others so that he does not block the sight.

The goblin regards Biror carefully and then smiles.

"Well, at the moment you are in the doorway of my chamber," the goblin says in perfect Common. "More generally you are in the southwestern section of the first level of dungeons of the Great Wizard's Fortress. Hopefully that is where you intend to be, for this is a very dangerous place."

Melissa senses magic everywhere in the chamber.

"Ah, a fellow Wizard!" the goblin says looking at Melissa. "How wonderful. I so rarely have a chance to discuss the arcane."

"Who am I?", the goblin then says to Fetcher and Biror. "I am Drypfri and this is my home. The real question is who are you, and why are you here? Fortune hunters no doubt"

"Great wizards! I know you brought us into a whole lot of trouble" says the dwarf while raising his arms to Melissa, turning his back to the goblin. While the wizard cannot see his face, he blinks at her.

Turning back, he adds: "But why would anyone want to stay in such a dangerous place?"
