Chapter 1: East Blue

As Ben calms down from everything that has been happening and helps sailing the ship, his blood sugar drops and he gets a bit sluggish.
If only I had a diet richer in iron and bigger forearms
Ben thinks to himself as he recalls what makes any sailor legendary.

Ben fails Seamanship by 5 ☠️ good luck crew

Chapter 1: East Blue

The ship lurched hard, pulling left, then right, then harder left, then harder right. The ship grazed the edges of the mountain wall, spraying chunks of wood across the mountainside. The temperature plummeted even more quickly as they shot up the mountain. Torrential downpour instantly turning into a blizzard. As they reached the top, they came too close to one side again, and a loud crunch came from somewhere as the ship hit something.

The Lionhearts needed to avoid going up to quickly, or they might shoot completely out of the water, or land so hard that something could break even worse!

Overall fail by 3 for part 1! Something broke! Shiphandling at -2 for the next part! Make it over the top without smashing to bits!
Everyone pick two skills to focus on:
  • Shiphandling - Only one person can roll. This is the controlling skill.
  • Navigation - Only one person can roll. Add half your margin of success to the helmsman’s Shiphandling (minimum +1).
  • Meteorology - Only one person can roll. Add half your margin of success to the helmsman’s Shiphandling (minimum +1).
  • Seamanship - Any number can roll. Add half your margin of success to the helmsman’s Shiphandling (minimum +1).
You may, instead of choosing 2 skills to roll, focus on just one at an extra +2 to effective skill.

Ori does hit best, but he makes a mental note to get more serious about his training in the future.

"Port, starboard, sailing!
Stern and aft, let's not be daft!
Else we'll be crashing!"

Success on Shiphandling by 1.

Ben shakes himself a bit as the boat rocks and bangs back and forth, but his mind is still fuzzy. As he  tiredly grabs the ropes between his fingers, it slips and begin to smoke as Ben tries to get a better grip, leaving the rope frayed.

Rolled a 13, failure by three will use one WCP to make it work, making it a success

Re: Chapter 1: East Blue

The ship began to slow, trying to avoid rocketing off course and onto the side of the mountain. As the Lionhearts reached the peak, they could see three other streams flowing up from the other Blues. The ship seemed to float for a moment as it left the water, time slowing as they crested the top of the mountain. The bow started to tip downward, and a gut-wrenching feeling worked it’s way through the crew as a moment of free fall hit. There was little anyone could do to fight the current that was no longer carrying the ship. The sails unfurled and caught a huge gust of air . . .

SPLOOOOOOSH!

The ship tipped level with downward current as it plummeted into the water. The ship sank down to the deck, resurfacing with waves of water streamed off the deck and from every hole and crevice.

They made it! The downward stream began to pull the ship into a rapid descent down into the Grand Line!

Overall success by 3!
You still have a -2 from whatever broke. Part 2 complete. Final stage! Slow down enough to not explode when you hit the ocean!

Feeling a momentary bit of panic at the descent, Ori wills it down and forces a huge grin. The paper wings blur into action as his feet rise off the deck from the steep incline, and Ori feels lucky as he steers down the crazy mountain.

Chapter 1: East Blue

As the ship hits the crest, Ben feels his weight shift as they begin to come back down. He grabs the sail ropes and ties one to his arm as quickly as he can, hoping it would keep him from washing off deck

As water washes over the ship, and over Ben, his strength leaves him and he is nearly surged to the back of the ship, but the ropes hold.
When he regains his strength, shaking himself dry, he ties a rope to the main mast and his belt, as he begins to bolster down the ship for its final journey

Seamanship roll, 8, minus two making it just succeed at 10.

Re: Chapter 1: East Blue

The ship continued gaining speed, despite every effort to slow it down. As the crashing waves of the ocean below came up to meet them head on, the Lionhearts caught a faint glimpse of another ship a ways off . . . The Calico pirates had made it!

The present situation hit them in the face like a ton of bricks—or more precisely a ton of ocean water. The ship plunged completely beneath the waves as the downward stream met with waters of the Grand Line, mast, sails and all sank down below the surface. The ship bobbed back up, spewing water and some loose cargo like fountains from the holes across the upper parts of the ship.

Just a ways behind them, at the cliffs of Reverse Mountain, there was a pair of lighthouses, one on each side of the river which descended from the mountain.

Thane noticed that some of his navigation equipment was now useless. The compass was not pointing consistently in any particular direction. Even the log pose didn’t seem to be working for some reason.

You made it! Success by 5! Everyone got a good bath of ocean, so Fruit Users are probably feeling a bit woozy from the dunk.

Re: Chapter 1: East Blue

Ben was on the deck, still tied to the mast, his eyes rolling spirals as he drooled slightly until he came to his senses, however long that would take.
“I guess we both needed a bath, eh Tony?!.” . Ben  laughs from the ground still trying to get his head about him in between groans. When his head clears, Ben will untie himself, and begin to grab what cargo might have been rolling around to secure it, atleast the ones that hadn’t gone overboard.

Chapter 1: East Blue

Ori gets completely drenched by the ocean water. His wings completely shut down, causing him to crash to his knees on the deck. The crisp lines that made up his face look a bit, well, ... soggy!

As the water sloshes off the deck though, Ori quickly contorts himself, folding back and forth quickly. Essentially, he wrings himself out and the water sluices right out of his suit sleeves and cascades off his cloak. He wearily gets to his feet and steers the ship toward the lighthouse.

He cries,

"Lurking Devil's Curse
Imposing such misery
On mere fruit eaters."

Chapter 1: East Blue

The ship moved lazily towards the cliffs. From a distance, the Lionhearts could see a space offshore where ships usually docked, the ocean more than deep enough to avoid hitting rocks. It may even be too deep to drop anchor, but tethering to the spiky rock formations on shore should work fine.

A sound came from the depths. A faint rumble. And again. And again. The ocean churned around the ship. The rumble grew louder and louder, but remained steady and even.

don . . . don . . .
don . . . don . . .
don. . . don. . .
DON . . . DON . . .
DOOOOOOOOON!

The ocean erupted with a fountain of water twice the height of the mast. Something gargantuan was left as the fountains subsided, a tentacle, easily seventy yards long.

DOOOOOOOOON!

Another appeared on the opposite side of the ship.

DOOOOOOOOON!

Another!

DOOOOOOOOON!

Another!

DOOOOOOOOON! . . . DOOOOOOOOON! . . .
DOOOOOOOOON! . . . DOOOOOOOOON!

Eight tentacles in total, completely surrounded the ship.

The rumble continued, without the explosive burst of water, and now it was more of a thumping, and it began to steadily speed up….

What do you do?

Chapter 1: East Blue

Beneath the waves, a gaping maw—large enough to engulf the entire ship and more—widened as if preparing to swallow it whole. The creature’s eyes and the rest of its face were obscured by its massive, beaked mouth. It didn’t seem to notice Leon at all.

The thumping sounded more clear underwater. He could hear a series of clacks and lighter thumps interspersed among the massive thuds.

DON kara DON kara
DON kara DON DON
DORO tsuku DORO tsuku
DORO tsuku DON DON

Then the sound stopped. A gleaming, iridescent blur streaked through the water, coming from closer to the shore, where it seemed—now that Leon considered—the sound must have come from. It shot straight past the gargantuan beast’s mouth, towards where it’s face must have been.

Above, the tentacles began descending upon the ship, one after another lumbering as if to grab instead of smash, but about to take hold of the entire ship, as if to drag it to the depths.

Then they stopped, jerking as if in surprise, like something had struck them. They writhed a bit, hesitated a moment, and then plunged back into the deep, huge waves surging around the ship.

Below, the gaping maw snapped shut, and one large eye of the beast stared directly at the shiny, colorful blur. From the distance, and being underwater, it was too difficult to make out. There was a loud BOP! sound, and the huge beast winced. The faint sound of a voice came muddled through the distance and the waves:

”. . . not how we rehearsed! The second cadence . . .” [inaudible] ”. . . not this ship!”

The massive head of the beast shook from side to side, sending currents that shoved Leon back and forth. Then the creature nodded, turned, and shot forward with incredible speed for its size.

Small break to let you guys react.
