Setting Information

A thread for setting information and questions regarding the setting.

We are using the setting from the book, largely unaltered. Mortals, frustrated with the lack of clarity and answers regarding the purpose of existence and ethical differences, went to Heaven for answers, laying siege to the city-world of Heaven. They fought their way to the Throne and found it empty. Afterwards, infighting broke out, and Heaven was broken, many pieces of its workings used to create Made Gods. Now, the world is broken into pieces, Heaven is in shambles, and Uncreated Night is eating away at existence.

However, the game will start in a paradise realm. In this realm, souls were born, died, and were reborn under skies of eternal twilight. Most memories were lost during the reincarnation process - people have only bits and pieces of their previous lives within Irohn. All of this happened under the gaze of the Made God Anaya, who maintained the realm and the cycle of death and rebirth. Now that she's gone, somehow, Uncreated Night is eating away at the world. You are not powerful enough (yet, at least) to maintain its existence, and so you must flee to a more stable realm, hopefully leading your people to relative safety.

Setting Information

The Nexus appears to be a city-world, a massive urban expanse containing numerous buildings of gleaming stone, glass, and metal. There are multiple types of architecture, some of which do not make much sense. Neighborhoods tend to share a type of building. The sky is a pale, luminous grey with no sun and no cycle of day and night; there is no natural weather. There are no plants or animals within the Nexus, but there are numerous humanoid constructs of tarnished silver that perform maintenance-related tasks and other chores; not much about them is currently known.

The Nexus appears to function as a hub of some kind, containing numerous portals like the one that brought you to it in plazas near the central district. Each one is a large metallic archway, with a lever and plaque beside it. The plaque notes what the destination of any given portal is. Each one is inactive until the lever is engaged. Any further indication of where the portal leads is not present near the plaza that the portal is contained in.
