Welcome! Unless I'm mistaken, the ability matrix is just the table on page 7 of the free pdf, which you can use instead of randomly rolling for your career.

Judging from the regular Into the Odd content they produced, there was definitely something metaphysical going on. Animals talk. Goats headbutt and chastise people. Snakes seduce and bite people in the park. Hell, even PUPPETS are alive. My theory is Bastion's where all the souls on the planet reincarnate instead of going to another plane. If there's not a human birth available, you come back as a dog or something worse.
