"Oh of course," Sentinel steps forward, placing a foot against the door to prevent its closure, "but we should warn you that earlier today the library with ol' Pickman's name on it was attacked by a group of superpowered thugs. Keenly interested in this book here," he opens to the section where the pages were torn out and hands  "American Indian Legends and Artifacts" to Harry.

"Those pages they took, now what do you think was on them?  Have a look at the index and you'll see they refer to some of the artifacts here in your museum. Now, I'm not a betting man, but if I were I'd lay a good pound note on them showing up here to get those items soon.  And considering the amount of damage they caused at the library, you can bet they'll do the same to anything and anyone here who gets in their way."

"One of 'em a mage, looks like he's got real magic.  One's no longer Human, kind of like a gorilla and wicked strong.  The other's on fire, I mean literally on fire, and tossing it about like he wants the world to burn.  Heaven help us if they've added another to their group by now."

Hoping he's made his case, but just to be sure, the mystic finishes with, "You can contact the library, confirm what I've told you.  You can also confirm we managed to drive them off and capture some of their minions.  Then you need to decide if you really want to face these chaps with just your security staff or if you might need a little bit of help."

"We'll wait."

"Easy lad," Sentinel smiles as he walks past Henry and motions in greeting to Najewa, "she's not with the demons, in fact she was instrumental in stopping them at the library earlier today."

"Wondered when you'd make an appearance,"
he nodes to Najewa, "According to Wraith here at least one demon's outside now.  More to come I expect.  Perhaps we should work together to keep that little trinket safe?"

The native heroine didn't seem like a joiner but he could only hope she would recognize the danger of attempting to exit the museum alone holding the very item the demons appeared to covet.

To Henry he asks, "Don't suppose old Pickman left any protective artifacts, did he?  Anything to ward off these buggers or that was jolly good at hurting them?  If not what's the most secure room you've got in this building?"

"Not much time, everyone.  We need a plan quick."

On his usual route through the city, Malleable Man appears to be talking to himself. "What the heck is 'on patrol' supposed to mean, anyway? In the comics, they start more than half the adventures with 'while Captain X is on patrol in the city'. But me? I come out here night after night and don't see anything but a museum that should be closed..."
The Amazingly Malleable Man (which is what he suggested to the editor, but the guy at the newspaper thought it scanned as too long) swings into an alley around the corner from the museum. It was, for obvious reasons, not really Michael Jackson that moon-walked out of the alley, but Malleable Man must have thought trying to figure that out would slow down the reactions of anyone he bumped into.
As the Gloved One danced across the sidewalk to the front door of the museum, to see if anyone would try to stop him, he appeared to be performing his scenes from the "Billy Jean" music video. Unfortunately, the singing voice was neither in the proper register nor in tune. In fact, at points in what would have been the guitar break, the "woo" seemed more reminiscent of the Nature Boy than the late 'King of Pop'.

Ginormica looked up at the demons, she knew at her small size she couldn't hurt them, but perhaps she could distract them.

"Hey uglies I'm down here, but you can't hit me!" she exclaimed while moving around. She hoped to draw the attention of the two demons away from the others.

Presence Attack, just her base 3d6 while Small :)

22:48, Today: Ginormica rolled 8 (with 2 body) using 3 with the Hero (Champions) system.  Presence Attack (Hopefully get some Extra Dice).

Note at her present size her DCV is 18....though I doubt I goaded them into attacking me unless I got some real nice bonus dice...

Malleable Man scampers forward, his arms and legs making minor adjustments as he runs. At first his gait is that of a man, then his arms become a little longer and he vaults forward on his knuckles like a lesser primate, before further adjustments have him leaping sideways like a lemur, then running like a frilled lizard before bounding forward on all fours like a rabbit. The subtle, but quick shifts in his form combine with his varied gaits to make it difficult to predict his location, and therefore hard to target him.

Re: Museum

Sentinel groans as consciousness returns with a throbbing headache.  Regaining his feet he survey's the scene and is somewhat at ease to see heroes focused not on demons but mundane fire.  Najewa still held the sickle; that boded well.

If he sees any fire extinguishers on the walls, usually with large signs to indicate their location in the event of an emergency, he'll yell to those around him and point to their location.  He then summons elemental forces in a wide spray of water over the flames.

With one hand still covering his left temple, he calls out, "Oy!  So how'd we do?"

Re: Museum

The mystic looks the assemblage of heroes over and nods, "I'm Sentinel, magic's right in my wheelhouse.  And guarding against extra-dimensional incursions, like drawing demonic spirits to posses the bodies of street thugs in an attempt to raise an army, is why I was sent back to this dimension."

"So, science types,"
he looks to Warhammer Ginormica, "magic will laugh at most of the physical laws but the end result won't be much different than your average super power.  The basic elements should still oppose one another - water or cold vs fire, light vs dark, you get the idea.  Just beat on em enough and they'll fold but it'll take longer.  But under all of that is a mystical energy, and we find a way to disrupt or cancel it and hopefully the demons won't be able to remain in this plane.  I might be able to pull that off but I've got to understand the basics of how it was done first."

"You find anything promising I'm those books,"
he smiles to Wraith, "Let me know."

"When I hit Runt's mind I could tell he had a mental link with the mage.  Can't be certain if the mage is pushing some control over each of his soldiers or not.  Any opportunity to disrupt that link could be important."

"Likewise when Runt hit me, bloody Hell, that gorilla's strong.  I can't go toe-to-toe with that one.  He might deserve a double-team.  We've seen his lieutenants, we need to pick our dance partners and have a bit of a plan how we're going to handle each."

"Snake Island - sounds like a good bet this is where they're headed.  That means walking on to their home turf.  This'll be a lot tougher than what we just went through and longer we take to get there the bigger his army will be when we arrive."

"So I'd like 5 minutes to examine the sickle, see if I can determine how the mage planned to use it, see if it hints at any vulnerabilities in his ritual.  Then we should be on our way."

"What do you say?"

Spend extra time using mystic sight on sickle to try to determine how it could be used to summon demons to this plane - how such an approach could be disrupted.

Najewa responds "yes, it seems I must learn how to use the scythe. But how? You are 4 thouusand miles away."

She pauses and looks at the others. "Can any of you find out who the transformed thugs were? Perhaps a recorded entreaty by their loved ones can convince them to live as humans once more."

Najewa sighs. "No. Earth Master is not an option. I fear what he would do with the scythe would be far more dangerous. One moment, please." Najewa covers the phone and tells Ginormica "the gang member converted into Torch had a Sharks jacket on. The rest of you followed gang members to the warehouse , didn't you? Did it occur to you to note what the gang colors or names were?" Back on the phone, Najewa says "Nervous Elk, there is a man here who is far more practiced with magic than I am. He calls himself Sentinel. Would you be willing to speak to him? He might understand the rituals enough to instruct me in person."

It takes nervous elk some time to call back.   He uses a broom in place of the scythe. He starts to show Sentinel how to release the humans from their demon bonds.

This takes about half an hour.   Each drmon will have to be dealt with separately

It is now midnight and it wouldn't hurt to find out more about the humans who are possessed.

Re: Museum

"Thank you," Sentinel nods to Nervous Elk on the small phone's screen before passing both it and the scythe back to Najewa and wiping his hands, "Oy! I----REALLY don't like that thing.  You can feel the rage that forged it."

Frowning up at the moon, the mystic admits, "Never an easy choice, is there?  We can charge up to the island, knock on those demon's front door for they can draw many of their ilk into this dimension.  But even with the scythe we're still probably outnumbered and out-gunned."

"Or, we see if we can learn more bout the teens that let them in, who's flesh they're wearing.  Might make it a whole lot easier to take them out if we can get their hosts to reject them.  May mean there's of them to deal with when we get there though.  Can't say for sure just how many."

"What do you lot think?"
he looks around, "Head East now or try to find their mates wearing the same colors first?"

OOC: Question - does this count as "bind its powers" or will it still take 2 days to do that before we can effectively use it?

Mal (still looking like he's about to start a dance-fight) nods at Warhammer, "it kinda sounded like that wizard was set to muster offenses, so he's probably got his defenses as bolstered as he's gonna bolst... er. Plus we have to arrange transport, both to AND from the facility. It would be a good idea to get a map and identify the main roads, borrow prison transport from the nearest department of corrections (for any demons or minions that we cure or capture)."
"Does anyone have contacts in the area that could set up to process the debris after we save the world?"

In reply to Malleable man (msg # 177):

The 2 days is to call forth the "elder gods" from their dimension.   You don't have to wait to use the scythe.

Besides, the demons don't have the scythe,  so it could take longer than they anticipated.

The books just gives them the incantations to turn a group of humans into demons or to call forth the elder gods.

They can't do either without the scythe,  but they don't know that yet.

Wait what?

Then if they can't summon any more without they scythe.....does that imply the demons we're facing were already in this dimension when they were bound to the teens?

Either way, advantage heroes.

Najewa if you agree you want to suggest this route to the group?

Najewa tells Sentinel "should you require materials for the transformations to occur, it gives the rest of us time to track down the gangs involved and discover the identities of the transformed. As I said, there may be loved ones that can convince them to become human again. Is there anything in the ritual to suggest that the hosts will lose their own identities over time?"

"We should stop the flow to his armies. To that end I think we should perhaps confront the gang members supplying their troops. The sad thing is if they are doing it voluntarily to get power, they may not realize that they will lose themselves in the process. That the longer they have the powers the less they will be them and the more they will become the demons possessing them. The lure of power might be enough to get them to volunteer but they might not have the full facts and thus armed with full knowledge they might make other choices before his army swells further," Ginormica suggests.

Sentinel eyes the armored uncomfortably, "Lot'o these are kids, maybe late teens.  Dumb maybe but got time to make a course correction with their lives.  How 'bout we give them that chance, hmmm?"

The mystic nods, "Right then, so speakin of dumb, doubt their ol' mates will be the helpful types.  But you lot look like you can be...persuasive...without the need to rough'em up too bad.  Some of 'em may still be sportin' some bruises from the warehouse.  Matter o fact, those are probably the best ones to get to talk."

"They weren't all from the same gang, right?  Which ones are we lookin' for?"
he asks those who were at the warehouse.

Once the newcomers are clear on the groups they're hunting for he'll suggest, "Corner of 81st and Vine, roof access in the alley.  Let's meet atop the apartment building by 7pm tomorrow, see what we've learned.  Sooner if we're lucky."

"Good hunting."

Returning to his original appearance, Mal says, "OH, I get it! This is where the heroes go their separate ways to avail themselves of their individualized investigative methods so they can re-convene with enough information to formulate a plan of attack. Well, I'm still all in, but I kinda suck at investigating."
"I'll see you all on the roof of 81st and Vine, as agreed. I doubt I'll have much to tell, but, like I said, I'm all in."

As he walks out and reaches the sidewalk, Malleable Man's legs spiral, tense and launch him into the air. As he reaches the apex of his leap, his right arm whips forward and lengthens immensely as he grabs a rooftop corner and swings to a handy window ledge.

Okay you are all standing outside
(The curator kicked you out, )  Wraith is willing to carry you all to the island (even though a van would work just as well as a dumpster)

Now to find street thugs.   It is midnight.   Most likely a lot of them are still awake.  I would suggest looking in the "seedy" part of the city.

Plus they were all gathering at one location (you remember that right?)  Wraith tried to scoop several of them up in a dumpster, so that might be a good place to start too.
