I believe that you can only abort to do a defensive action. If he was the target, he could abort to a dodge but not to prevent Najewa from attacking the wizard. The Wizard could to try to avoid the attack.

It's still a Dive for Cover. Interposing character makes a DEX roll with a penaltay of -1 per inch of distance moved from where the character starts to a point between the attacker and the victim, and if successful the attacker automatically hits the interposing character.
Succeeding in the Dive For Cover (making the DEX roll) automatically allows the interposing character to take the damage and save the target.

Once Sentinel has recovered enough to stand again he'll examine the hosts then consult with his companions.

"With the scythe gone it will be a challenge to exorcise the demonic spirits.  There are a couple options that come to mind but none are guaranteed."
