Character Creation

PCs are to roll 3D6, 8 times, for stats.  Place rolled stats as you wish.  If you get a 6 in your initial 3D6, then roll and add an 'additional D6'.  If the 'additional D6' is a 6, then roll and add one LAST D6 to that stat.  Please, do not be alarmed or turned off by seemingly low stats.  There is a lot more to your characters than their base stats. If the stats you rolled are completely unacceptable to you, then you may COMPLETELY reroll your stats ONCE.  Then choose which set of stats you wish to use.

All characters start at level 3. XP will be doled out weekly on Mondays.

After you have created your character, please post your character sheet, as well as backstory. It doesn't need to be a novel, it just needs to be awesome. :-)

We will only be using the RIFTS GM book for rule checks, but you may use any of the RIFTS RPG texts for your characters, especially Phase World. Please list the book and page number for RCC/OCC so I can quick reference if need be.

Access is to at least the RIFTS main book is ideal.

Finally, when choosing your alignment, keep in mind you are the "good" guys. That said, good guys can still be...complicated.

Just in Case Rolls (JIC) and Combat Posts

Periodically, I'll ask for Just in Case (JIC) rolls. These are used, well, just in case I need them.

JIC Roll:
Post a Perception Roll. (D20)
Post a Just in Case Saving Throw roll (D20). (JIC)
Post a Just in Case Skill roll (d100). (JIC)

COMBAT POSTS:

In the event of combat, describe what you are doing, then roll initiative. Make all of your attack/parry or dodge rolls. You can roll as many parry rolls as you have attacks. Dodges use attacks as usual, unless you have auto-dodge. If you don't roll initiative then your character will act last. If multiple people do not roll initiative, then I will roll to see what their action order is. In the event only a couple folks have posted then I will roll the dice to decide who your opponents target. If your post rate is slow during combat, I won't ever kill your character, but you may log in and find that you are a bit mangled. But don't worry, I want you to live.

Example:

Space Cowboy steps into the hallway. He has a laser gun that make an odd pew pew noise, but he got it for an excellent price and thus fires at his sworn enemy.

16:57, Today: Secret Roll: Space Cowboy rolled 10 using 1d20+3. Initiative

16:57, Today: Secret Roll: Space Cowboy rolled 7 using 1d20+3. LASER GUN!!
16:57, Today: Secret Roll: Space Cowboy rolled 22 using 1d20+3. LASER GUN!!
16:57, Today: Secret Roll: Space Cowboy rolled 16 using 1d20+3.  LASER GUN!!

16:58, Today: Secret Roll: Space Cowboy rolled 22 using 1d20+3.  Parry.
16:58, Today: Secret Roll: Space Cowboy rolled 17 using 1d20+3.  Parry.
16:58, Today: Secret Roll: Space Cowboy rolled 19 using 1d20+3.  Parry.

16:59, Today: Secret Roll: Space Cowboy rolled 16 using 3d6.  Damage.
16:59, Today: Secret Roll: Space Cowboy rolled 9 using 3d6.   Damage.
16:59, Today: Secret Roll: Space Cowboy rolled 13 using 3d6.  Damage.

House Posting Rules

This is a "daily" post game. At the very least, I check the game daily, and sometimes wait to post if a critical post is needed.

I usually wait one more day and then move things along. If you have ever fallen behind, don't sweat it. Just do your best to catch up and have fun with it.

Also, don't be a racist, misogynist creep.

Character Death

Character death will come if you choose for your character to meet their demise. In that case the character will die, and you and I will talk privately about how we want that to come about. It must contain narrative thrust and serve to move our story forward. Otherwise, in the event of falling below 0 HP, and assuming you want to keep your character, I will roll on some tables to determine the effects of survival.

While this may seem like it gives the heroes an unrealistic advantage, think of it this way: there are many, many extreme consequences/events that can happen to your characters that forever change them, and perhaps even the way you play them, when your HP has been reduced to 0.

There are things worse than death!
