Hearing Cole's voice over the radio ready to lend support was actually reassuring she was, at least, not fighting alone!

+"S-sure Cole... is 500'ft close enough?!?  And... thanks!"+

Re: Vampire Kingdoms thread Campaign Thread: Vampire Kingdoms

"Eyes, earholes, nasal, if one must target the head. Anywhere else, one has to assume the scales and skull can withstand robotic grade weaponry. Dragon was my first kill. Wasn't that big, though." Chaplain kept zooming the scope around, searching for a more mundane target than what his brain classified as 'the distraction.' "Hey, these demons have any weak points or strengths we need to know about? If they can be killed by harsh language, we could just set Cade on them and then the rest of us focus on the vampires."

He did keep the axiom in mind "The diversion is actually the main attack," though.

Re: Vampire Kingdoms thread Campaign Thread: Vampire Kingdoms

Cade knows that these sorts of demons are generally weak against holy weapons and magic. So now to just acquire a priest or something.

Inside the bubble, the compass holders all still appear to be frozen.

At the base of the pyramid, a vampire comes forward, no longer wearing his power armor. "As you can see, the demons you summoned have decided you are the more desirable prey. Give me the compasses and your death will be swift. Deny me, and your painful death will take so long to come you feel immortal."

The ball of light above the pyramid grows larger, and bolder. The demons, even the dragon, seem to collectively wince as the ball grows larger and a streak of light appears, ripping through spacetime. A soft, gold mist comes through, smelling of incense.

For reasons the others cannot explain, they sense that their weapons have all become infused with holy energy. Symeril begins to glow brightly. A voice booms from the rip in spacetime.

"For the battle angel, a gift."

Symeril shimmers and then appears atop a magnificent, steel dragon of her own.

Re: Vampire Kingdoms thread Campaign Thread: Vampire Kingdoms

Symeril was planning on just trying to hold the Demon dragon hopefully long enough for the ritual to complete... hopefully before it killed her or injured her so badly she would fall and be devoured by the demons below.  She had been ready to die... she could have fled... her flying titan certainly could have put some distance between her and the demon/vampire horde.. but she'd chosen to stand.. and die for a chance at removing a powerful set of artifacts from the clutches of the Vampire Intelligences!

Then the sky opened above her and... A miracle descended!

She had heard tales of Palladins out of legend being granted by divine grace a Holy Steed to bear them into battle... but never like THIS!!!

It was a Dragon.. made of metal not as big as the Demon Dragon.. but still a big as a house in itself!  It's metal hide was shiny silver and as it floated down in one swift acrobatic immellman maneuver from the Beast Mecha she was astride it between its wings as its powerful thrusters flared and magnetic ports locked her Flying Titan to the Dragon-Mecha's back!

Then it spoke ~ "I am ARGENT, I serve the Battle Angel.  Hostiles Identified ~ Weapons Free - Palladin Battle Angel of ATHENA?"

"Er.. Yes, ARGENT ~ Weapons Free!"

Symeril was surprised again as missile weapon ports opened on the 'ARGENTS' flanks & shoulders, and a pilot flame lit on all the teeth in its steely maw like a row of acetylene torches, and finally its tail tip - Extended a Sharpened Spade ~ Arching with Electricity!

She drew the CS Vibro-Spear she had acquired and hefted it under one arm like a knight's lance!

Feeling a rush of confidence.. for there was no doubt whose voice had Called and granted her this gift... Symeril addressed the Demon Dragon...

"HAIL Great Fiendish Scaled One, You know who I AM by Divine Word ~ By What Honorific Shall I address thee?"

"I Ask you a second Question, consider Wisely ~ IS TODAY A GOOD DAY TO DIE? The Vampires care little of Heaven or Hell...for they ARE slaves in their own undead hell.. they have no volition other then what their masters impel upon them! They are nothing but puppets, toys of their hidden master who take no risk!  NOT SO THEE! You have existence, purpose, a will of your own.. no matter how dark and twisted. Their fight is not your fight.. they just have not been directed, as yet, by their puppet master to turn on you!  You  are immortal... they are already dead.  Is THEIR cause worth the risk of your almost Divine Existance? You know as soon as we are weakened they WILL attack you!  BUT now the Score has changed... CLEARLY DIVINE Favor is with me! Do you wish to tempt fate that more divine servants will not be dispatched to oppose thee or the power invested in me her Empowered Servant?  Is the well-being of the puppet Vampire Schemes Your concern?  Is not the advance of the Dyval Legions your true direst foe and purpose?"

"The choice is Yours.  Fight now risk my slaying you for no reward,... or take your good fortune to arrive with your army unhindered and abandon the dead puppets!"

"For Living Undead or Dark Demonspawn of Hades.. I WILL SMITE YOU If you stand Against MY Cause this Day!!!"

John calmly floats towards the unarmored vampire. His lips are moving, so he appears to be speaking but nothing is heard. Perhaps he was talking to the clouds, who respond with a huge bolt of lightning splitting the sky and striking the vampire as John floats lower, a blade of flame suddenly leaping from the sword hilt he carries.

Now that he's out of the armor, phase two can begin. Call Lightning on the master vampire. 23:55, Today: St. John-Smythe rolled 32 using 8d6.  Call Lightning damage.
32 MD. John lights up his sword, as well.

Joran, moving close to theose working on destroying the compasses, layers psychic forcefields, three of them, over their position as added protection.
Layered at 90', 80', and 70' diameter, 90/90 MDC each.
He then surrounds himself with a similar field that covers his armored body like an additional suit of armor.  At the sound of the booming voice offering gifts to the Cyberknight, Joran smiles and begins to recite something he once saw in a movie.
And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, "O Lord, bless this Thy hand grenade that, with it, Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits in Thy mercy."
And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three. No more. No less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then, lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."

He then raises his grenade rifle to the air, and recites it again, but modifying it to suit his weapon with a big, toothy grin set to frighten even thebhardiest souls.
And Saint Joran raised the grenade rifle up on high, saying, "O Lord, bless these Thy Holy Grenades of Antioch that, with them, Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits in Thy mercy."
And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou load the Holy Grenades of Antioch into thy magazine. Then, shalt thou count to Moses Law plus one. No more. No less. Forty shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be forty. Thirty shalt thou not count, nor either count thou twenty, excepting that thou then proceed to forty. Fifty is right out. Once the number forty, being the Law of Moses plus one, be reached, then, loadest thou thy magazine of Holy Grenades of Antioch and point thy launcher and squeeze thy trigger towards thy foes, who, being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it."

Cade sniffed a bit.  "Everything fucking reeks of magic now, so run what ya bring and you should be set."  She announced to her less mystically sensitive compatriots.

Cade then dropped her pack and cracked open the cage of her lizard thingy friend.  She certainly didn't want it trapped if things went south and figured it could fend for itself or flee as it wished now.

She then sprinted for the edge of the pyramid and took a running leap off the structure intent on landing claws first on the asshole blood sucker down below.  "An eternity of dying over and over?  Too fucking late for that!"

Nathaniel and his brothers place the original compass and then in turn all of the compasses in their hand onto the pedestal. The attempt is made to put the compasses one on top of the other to see if they will cohabit the same space. If not then as close together as possible. There isn't anything special he knows how to do or can even guess, so the brothers continue in their ringed defense inside the bubble. The events outside the bubble noticed, if possible, but Nathaniel is transfixed with the ritual.

Re: Vampire Kingdoms thread Campaign Thread: Vampire Kingdoms

The horde, stunned by the holy light, voices and metallic dragon, are slow to respond. Transparent humanoids begin to appear all around the pyramid, and its base, beings of light appearing among the hordes.

A crack of lightning comes down from the sky and strikes the master vampire, knocking him back. Agrus grins with approval at John.

This seems to bring the horde out of its stupor and it begins to ascend the pyramid. The movement is sluggish, though, likely slowed by the holy energy coming from the rift.

Our heroes inside the time bubble seem to grow brighter, their movement becoming discernible. The bubble grows brighter and brighter and then bursts. White heat comes from the ritual altar, and shoots into the sky.

Joran and Wolf see at the base of the pyramid that Nathaniel, Zeke and Robert have somehow been teleported into the horde of demons and vampires.

The demon dragon roars and swoops at Symeril and her winged steed. The demons and vampires attack.

The battle begins in earnest.

Re: Vampire Kingdoms thread Campaign Thread: Vampire Kingdoms

Cole felt the…touch of the divine and took a deep, lung filling breath. It was remarkable. While he still realized he and his comrades were in a dire situation to say the least, he no longer faced it without hope. Despite the fact nothing tangible had changed, somehow he just felt like they might just make it. He gave a silent prayer of thanks to whatever god or goddess was responsible for this feeling. He moved to draw his rifle and take aim at the demon dragon but then the sky was ripped asunder with holy light. He watched, slack jawed as a giant, steel dragon appeared and somehow Symeril was on its back, riding it. He didn’t even hear her words over the sound of both dragons’ wings. “Well I’ll be,” he thought, never finishing the sentence as beings of pure light, holy light, began to appear around the base of the pyramid. “I guess Symeril won’t be needing our help with that dragon after all.”

The Gunfighter closed his mouth and then gave a snort in amusement. Cole just couldn’t believe what he was seeing and the only thing that came to mind, the only response that seemed sane, was to laugh. “Well Lady, I think that’s are cue to ride into this here fight,” he tells Dyna over the sounds lightning, dragon wings, roaring demons and whatever else had decided to show up for the party. He released his gripe on his rifle and cracked his knuckles. He whipped his head first left and then right, and rolled his shoulders. Taking another deep beath, he drew both of his pistols and summoned up the last of his magic energy, channeling it through his body. It felt a little different than it normally did but he spared it no mind. There were bad guys down there that had come a long way to kill him and his friends. The least he could do was go out and meet them. Cole gripped Dyna tightly with his legs as the golden horse began a full gallop down the side of the pyramid, directly into the onrushing horde of demons and vampires. Cole’s hands moved with inhuman speed and precision, never stopping even as he squeezed the triggers, sending bolts of divine death at his enemies. “If only ma and pa could see me now,” he thought.

OOC
Holy crap! This is a CRAZY battle scene! I did not see this going down this way!

Cole is spending the last of his PPE. Fortunately I still got a little bit of time left from when he used his Water Powers to fish Cade out of the drink. I’ll hold off on summoning a rain storm just yet. I don’t know how that will effect everyone, like the beings of light that just showed up and I don’t want to turn the ground in a soggy mess if that’s going to really screw up the battle for us.

So Cole will do what he is best at; shooting things with speed and precision. ^_^
13 shots from each pistol, taking 2 actions to reload, so 26 shots total, all Called Shots. Aiming for Hearts on vampires with the silver round loaded CFT and heads of demons with the Wilks.

Re: Vampire Kingdoms thread Campaign Thread: Vampire Kingdoms

The master vampire out front turns to mist and evaporates into the horde, followed by two other secondary vampires. Demons and vampires continue their climb up the pyramid. A strange, skeletal, flying demon swoops down and attacks Wolf. It's long claws rake him and it takes off into the air again. Flanking Cole, a large, horned, muscular demon charges at him, roaring. It's horns tear at him as it plows into him.

Cole spins and shoots the demon in the head and it barrels back and begins falling down the pyramid and bringing others with it. Cade then tusn his attention to hissing vampires making their way to him and they fly back and into the horde as he riddles them with shots.

Wolf takes his turn and opens some holes in the heads of vampires, their bodies flailing as he takes them out.

The sky fills with the shriek of the demon dragon as it circles and heads back toward our heroes.

Symeril holding the CS vibro-spear performs a Palladin Lance charge - Demon Death Strike as the 'lance' Flares with golden Divine power stabbing DEEP into the Demon Dragon's Hide!  Then Argent passes by and flipping over doing a wingover, thrusters blazing in reverse comes around for a second pass... which again... Symeril lance charges and Demon Death Strikes Again!

Argent's Trhusters turn down hovering next to the Demon Dragon... and Symeril lays into the fiend with three swings of her crackling Violet Psi-Greatsword... clearly aiming to behead it!  Ending the series with one last Palladin Demon Death Strike at its head the Psi-Greatsword flaring a bright Golden Corona around the violet hued pis-blade!

But all her swings fell upon the beasts shoulder and torso as it writhed under the assault craning it's head back in desperation... but opening deep wounds in the fiend!

That is when "Stella", ever at Symeril's shoulder... switches to Heavy Laser Shots in short bursts at the demondragon's head killing shots each...

"Stella" indicates in Symeril's combat HUD.. that its HPG Capacitors are drained and switches over to the long E-clip, the internal nuclear generator kicking in to slowly recharge the HPG Capacitor. A Barrel Temperature warning light suggests a cool-down period before +weapons free+ again...

Chaplain shook as he recovered from the demon swooping in on him. +"Someone get these airborne things off of me, and give me some room. I'll thin the main body."+

Despite distractions, he finished his set-up, grabbed the autolauncher, and opened fire. "Welcome to Earth!"

A sound akin to endless rolling thunder erupted from his position, and the field in front of him became a scene of explosive carnage. The sound of the former lieutenant roaring at the enemy could barely be heard over the booming of his weapon.

OOC: 08:22, Today: Chaplain Wolf rolled 24 using 1d20+8.  Frag grenade burst.

Nathaniel just raises his rail gun and starts firing at the closest demons on full auto. Few options are available, but he does try to not get separated from the others he was teleported here with.

Meanwhile, on the top of the pyramid, scores of photons burst falsh through the sky targeting the master vampire. Nathaniel's brother-clones single him out as the architect of this particular doom and figure if he goes down the other vampires will go crazy and maybe attack the demons.

Re: Vampire Kingdoms thread Campaign Thread: Vampire Kingdoms

The demon dragon whirls and sets its sight on Symeril and her mount. A ball of black and purple energy forms in its mouth and shoots forth in a bolt of black energy. It then extends its claws and shreds the metal exterior of the mount.

Symeril rains down death and destruction across the battle field, as demon and vampire alike explode in bursts of gore, piles of nondescript flesh beginning to pile up around like mole hills. She then turns her attention to the demon dragon, barreling into it
with holy fury. The dragon, taken by surprise at her ferocity, roils back and looks on her with wary, hateful respect.

Meanwhile, Wolf and Nathaniel help add to the collection of flesh and annihilate droves of demons and vampires. Nathaniel, down in the middle of it, creates a clear space around himself, a wall of demonic and vampiric flesh surrounding him like a protective wall. Nathaniel can't spot the master vampire, though.

GM: Symeril - Mount took 246 damage.

Next round!

Cade had lost sight of the master when he turned to mist.  However she could chase her prey down with more than her eyes.

Planting a boot into the chest of the creature in front of her she propelled herself up above the fray and pumped some additional energy into her armor.

Sticking in the air for a moment she sniffed for the bearing she was seeking which would lead her to her quarry then flew in that direction.

Cade rolled 35 using 1d100.  Track (master vampire) @ 80

Cole registered the hits but his armor held. He was just as glad it had been gim.and not Dyna. The pair worked together, charging the enemy. His guns fired and fired and fired again, pausing only to reload. Dyna's hooves thundered, trampling demons and vampires alike underfoot. They wove a pattern of death around the base of the pyramid, stacking bodies in an effort to keep the enemy from scaling the pyramid and reaching his companions that were trying to destroy the compasses.

A stray thought hit him, a memory of one of the stories his parents had told him growing up. Something about ghost riders. There had been a song too, telling of how they rode horses whose hooves were on fire. He shrugged mentally and let the stray thought pass as he renewed his focus on the battle.

Re: Vampire Kingdoms thread Campaign Thread: Vampire Kingdoms

Symeril sees the extensive damage inflicted upon Argent and worries, but the Mech-Dragon calmly tells her, +"Do not be concerned Battle Angel, I am not subject to pain. Systems at 35% integrity damage."+

She nods and replies, +"Unacceptible!  Withdraw from Battle with the DemonDragon... I'll deal with it.  Continue Fire support at long range."+

+"Acknowledged."+

Symeril, attaches by magnetic clamp the CS Vibro Spear to Argent's 'saddle area', turning her Flying Titan's Thruster to hover as she takes flight...

Argent flares his Wing thrusters and tears away at maximum acceleration... reach 400mph in seconds pouring on the speed to put a mile distance from the fight. He sends an electronic request to Symeril's Flying Titan armor requesting access to her telemetry ~ she accepts.

23:44, Today: Symeril rolled 61 using 1d100.  Argent - Weapon Systems [90%]. – 61

Argent's targeting systems then lock on the battle his SR missiles targeting the DemonDragon and his MM missiles targeting the Demon/Vampire horde below... selecting ordinance and targeting solutions with access to the Flying Titan's telemetry that will allow him to target the DemonDragon with ordinance without risk of hitting Symeril.

He fires two MM Fragmentation Woodplup/Silver missile into the horde below targeting them to best support the Battle Angel's comrades from a range of a 1/2mile away.  Pouring on the speed he flies away and at 2.5 miles away fires 2x SR Armor Piercing missiles at the demondragon!

Symeril Regards the battle below with a glance to see her comrades in battle...

+"Team, lasers are not very effective... some demons are immune to heat/Fire, magical fire, plasma, and explosions.  BUT they can be hurt with Fragmentation, Railguns, Ion Guns, Particle beam weaponry or mundane silver!"+

Then she invoked a second Psi-Greatsword and dove in with all her flying speed to slay the DemonDragon in a dazzling display of swordmanship... aimed at its head ~ a whirling storm of DEATH!

The Battle Angel announces in a loud voice ~ "ONE SHALL FALL!!!"

+"Good to know!"+ The counter had ticked down to 130 and dropping. Chaplain tried to send a message to everyone else, hoping the sound got through over his weapon. +"I can hold the line at my point for thirty more seconds! Give me someone who can reload a belt, and I'll make it a ninety seconds! Are we holding on all other points?!"+

The information he had gotten meant the next belt was the last, and that would only be if he had the time to load it. The AP and the microfusions were useless according to recent intel, as were the laser based weapons for some damn reason. That left the arm cannon and the blades, with the other weapons being limited to vampiric applications at best.

Those could not stop a horde. He could choke a point, but he would be overrun sooner or later if he could not thin this group down into a more manageable group of wounded elites. Even his current weapon could only stop an advance in one direction.

Re: Vampire Kingdoms thread Campaign Thread: Vampire Kingdoms

Cade tracks the master vampire and the two secondary vampires with to somewhere above the pyramid. They are likely in bat form. True enough, the demon dragon departs from Symeril and begins attacking the shields surrounding Sam the mage. The shield explodes away and the master vampire takes humanoid form again and attacks him, ripping a massive wound out of his neck. He tosses Sam aside, smiling and licking blood and flesh from his mouth.

The light beam coming from the altar begins to falter.

"The ritual must not stop!" shouts Agrus, scrambling with Robert to take on the vampires. "Someone get to Sam!"

The dragon roars as Argent attacks it, the explosions deafening as they strike the monster. Symeril, swoops down with ferocity and hacks away at the thing, drawing if off of the pyramid and once again capturing its attention.

Wolf and Cole continue to mow down demons and vampires alike, the stench of burning flesh and innards filling the air.

Re: Vampire Kingdoms thread Campaign Thread: Vampire Kingdoms

Cade was only seconds behind the vampires, but the seconds were enough that she couldn't stop the master from apparently killing the mage they'd rescued.

Instead she dropped down and then propelled a series of three wooden stakes propelled from the weapon on her right arm, and aimed with the intent of hitting the master's heart.  She did not snarl or cry out as she attacked, rather stayed as quiet and stealthy as she could manage, looking to get as much surprise in the chaotic scrum as possible.

Cade rolled 19,23,26.  Attacks (aimed towards the master's heart)

So reading Symeril's rule posting, I guess these are both "aimed" and "called"?  Since they're intended to target the heart?  So each attack is 3 actions?  Also gets an additional +2 I forgot to add in to the roller, so adding in manually, plus accommodating the extra actions needed to "call" the shots.

Dunno, used to be you just needed to roll real good to stake a vampire, no idea now.

Symeril continues her dive trailing the Demondragon, flying titan wing thrusters flaring at the last moment as she does a swing at the Vampire Lord's head from behind in a Decapitating slash with her violet Psi-Greatsword burning with the golden glow of Demon Death Strike all for the Vamp lord on landing between him and Sam.   She invokes her Globe of Daylight to surround her and Sam in a 72'ft-radius Area, raising both her crackling Psi-Greatswords to to fully defend against the Demondragon and the Vampire lord...

At her armored shoulder receiving her cyber-linked command... "Stella" fires one of it's two internal Garlic Grenades at Symeril's feet... hopefully to debilitate the Lord Vamp and maybe drive away the secondaries!
Garlic Smoke Grenades = Ra: 120’ft, Blast: 20’ft-r, 1D4HP vs Vamps {-3 Intv, -6 ST/PY/DG, -1 Attack, Dur: 2d4rds & repels vampires 2D4xl0’ ft away}

She then does a small gesture at Sam's prone body... and with telekinesis pulls a her IRMSS Internal Robot Medical Surgeon System to slap it on his shoulder near the neck wound... the Auto Surgeon injects Sam with its dose of 48 nano-bot surgeons to immediately get to work stabilizing Sam.. clotting his blood and knitting his arteries together, and feeding him stimulants.  With a silent act of will she also invokes her Mind Block power to guard her mind from the Vampire Lord's influence!

02:30, Today: Symeril rolled 64 using 1d100 with rolls of 64.  IRMSS Internal Robot Medical Surgeon System - medical doctor's surgical skill [75%]. – 64

This time the medical nano-bots have the desired effect and begin repairing the damage to Sam... small miracles.. but important ones.  Symeril is grateful reading the medical telemetry scrolling through hr H.U.D. at least he will not die from shock .. and may return to consciousness but now her companions have time to get him back into the ritual!  At least with her Globe of Daylight and the Garlic Grenade Cloud still around her... no garden variety Vamp can approach...

Then Symeril goes on total defense parrying and dodging Demondragon or demonic attacks to provide time for her companions to win...  even if it likely will cost her life...

Argent still 2.5 miles away maintaining target lock on the demondragon increases speed swooping in to half a mile distant and fires two chest mounted MM launchers aiming two Frag MM at the Demondragon's head... and then circles away at high speed back to 2 miles distant!  Saving the rest of his actions for dodges...

I'm not going to solo kill it!  It IS a demon..so maybe its immune to laser/heat/fire damage but still!

I hear you Cade.. Vampire Kingdoms-Revised and the Vampire Sourcebook have made things more complicated.  Here is my cheat paragraph.  For what its worth.. its easier to make a called shot in melee, no extra attack needed [1AT].. than it is with ranged weapons.  It's the whole requiring an entire action to aim [1AT], then another action to call a shot [1AT]{unless your a gunslinger}... and then Finally the action to shoot [1AT] with a really high Target Number to hit the heart [TN24+, modified or nat 20]!  That totally screws things up!  But you rolled high enough... barring dodges to hit his heart at least once and that's all that matters ~ Well done! So either way we have two chances here to incapacitate him.. my decapitation or your staking of the heart!

Re: Vampire Kingdoms thread Campaign Thread: Vampire Kingdoms

Demons and vampires begin dog piling their way up the pyramid, our heroes holding them off as much as possible, but ammo and hope beginning to run dry.

Agrus and Robert both take on the master vampire. The vampire laughs cruelly and shoves Robert into a mob of vampires and demons who swarm over him. He turns his attention on Agrus who tries using balls of fire to distract him. The vampire leaps forward and bites deep into the lizard mage's neck. Agrus stumbles back, blood streaming from his neck as he too is swarmed by vampires who begin eating him alive.

Joran lobs grenades at the demon dragon, explosions hitting it hard as it tussles with Symeril's mount.

In the mayhem on top of the pyramid, Cade sneaks through the crowd, and as though all stands still she takes aim and fires a wooden stake directly into the master vampire's heart. The other vampires in the crowd collectively shriek as their master is hit.

Symeril heals Sam just enough that he begins to drag himself back to the altar. He reaches up with a single, bloodied hand and touches it, muttering his incantation quietly. Symeril stands in front of the horde that even now is overrunning our heroes, who have fought so hard to be free.

Sam mutters one last word and falls to the ground, unconscious. The light from the altar shoots out through Nathaniel, his brothers, Symeril and Dyna the horse. Holy light floods the entire sky, pyramid and ground. The compasses burn bright with intense light and heat. The air fills with the scent of sweet myrrh and frankincense.

The master vampire rises again in terrifying arrogance, the stake having been pulled from his heart by a demon.

But then he screams in shock, terror and pain and he is burned. His skin boils and roils. Beams of light also begin to shine in the the far distances all around as compasses kill their keepers and minions.

The demon dragon is struck by a holy bolt and bursts into golden flame. It careens wildly toward the pyramid and slams into the side of the structure, which explodes and shudders. Our heroes watch in eternal seconds as vampires turn to dust and demons around them burst into flame. Then the pyramid collapses and they know no more.
