Also, I backed the whole Mothership kickstarter because of this game, so I am not going to consider it a loss if it never starts up!

I really enjoyed being Zen, though. Being slightly creepy and not quite in tune with humanity was fun.

Oh, and speaking of regency, miss Zen, I'm getting my mother a copy of "Good Society: The Jane Austen rpg" for Christmas.

AWESOME choice Hazel, I want that a lot! You kinda guessed regency is my thing. My MA was in Victorian Studies, which is actually 1793 to 1914 :D

That's such a good game! I'm sure you'll have an absolute blast playing that.

(And no worries about bullying Bethon--he deserves it!)

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

I did feel that the dice gods were being especially unfair to our poor Franz, he did deserve better. But this is a system that takes fiendish delight in tormenting players. Let's face it, it's based on things like Alien, Starship Troopers, Predator... it is only to be expected that a sizable number of the players will die in gruesome ways...

Are you familiar with Far Trek, the Star Trek RPG? In that somewhat comical system (well, comical the way my brother runs it, anyway) you can opt to play a Red Shirt. You are almost guaranteed to die. When you do, you come back with another Red Shirt. Same stats, different person, same short life expectancy...

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

I've actually never played a Star Trek RPG, although I'd like to. I imagine they would be hard to GM. Once you've given the players a replicator and a transporter, look out. Maybe do Star Trek Enterprise where the transporter is still experimental and dangerous.

In reply to Franz Bethon (msg # 769):

Thank you! Lucky for me cheerful, chirpy and clueless is just about perfect for a Regency maiden.

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

I have tried a lot of Star Trek games here over the years, and they almost always fail, fairly quickly. I am not sure why. It is frustrating. My current one seems to be going OK, but it has slowed up a little. I posted, am waiting for other players. I don't want to carry the game myself!

Which Star Trek game, Zen? Wouldn’t happen to be Orion, would it?

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

Aye, that it would. I so want it to succeed, the characters are great, and the writing has been pretty good stuff so far! I like the system, too, it is really streamlined. But so many Star Trek games wither away. I do not want that to happen, it looks like the GM really is very good and invested, and not likely to vanish after a couple of weeks.

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

Every Star Trek game I’ve been in has died. I’m hoping Orion breaks the trend. I se f the GM a poke so hopefully he comes back.

Who are you playing there?

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

Indeed, it is good when you finally get to give a good character a proper outing. I've run my character a few times, but she was always Betazoid before. But my main character on Star Trek Online is Trill, so I thought I'd change for the sake of variety here.

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

Fun! Been around a while so there is a lot to do. There's a lot of pressure to buy stuff, but it is totally unnecessary, I have played there for years and done just fine without forking out for super rare ships and things. Lots of content, many races. There's a good balance between space and ground combat, and the various episodes have a lot of plot variety, and a great deal of cameo appaearances from many of the actors in the various shows. Myself, I like playing as a Romulan. My Romulan Borg (I sprung for the super speshul lifetime account when it was crazy cheap briefly) is sexy as hell!
