Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

So, I could maybe be persuaded to run a game if people were up for it? I have a couple up and ready to go. Ran them before with other players very successfully... Not Mothership. A freeform Doctor Who game, and a freeform Hellcats and Hockeysticks (aka St Trinians) game...

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

Here's a link to the game info for each then! I've tidied up and archived old game threads. My Doctor Who game is now the longest continuously run Doctr Who game on RPoL -  eleven years! I have run two other groups through the scenario with a lot of fun. :D

And two groups have played in my St Trinians game, too. If you don't know it, I recommend hunting down the movies. I know they were on Prime, probably still are.

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

You do not need to. I'm open to Exchange Students in the St Trinians game, and they could come from anywhere. The system has Ninja/Samurai concepts for Japanese students, but we did have an American student in one group. I can work out your special ability to suit your background. :D I will likely tweak the Prefect ability too, it tended to slow the game down and put too much pressure on the Prefect player.

Oh, we had a Russian exchange student in a game I ran in tabletop. She had the Russian Mafia as her special ability. She could call Daddy to get... influence...

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

Both would be EXCELLENT! Susan would be a really interesting character to have along, she would have a massive personal stake in the story.

I can easily run both games. In the past, I had to let things fade out as I was having issues running and having the energy to keep things going. Well, it turns out that was because I had stage three bowel cancer... I was declared cancer free this year, so I am MUCH more capable and on top of things again. :D

A great relief. I mean, I will never be the same as I was before, I've had the top and bottom of my digestive system removed, which causes constant issues. And much more fatigue, too. But the relief is enormous!

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

I'd be worried about joining the Doctor Who game, since my Classic Who knowledge is spotty at best.

I suppose the same is true for your other game, but I figure it's a lot easier to start patching that one up. :)

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

Got one player into the Doctor Who game, and another in the works. I can run comfortably with four, if anybody else wants to try it.

Don't worry about spotty knowledge, Franz. I can help you with any breaks in knowledge, and you will be going into an adventure written with your characters in mind (I always tailor a game to the players) so it shouldn't be too difficult to fit in. It's all freeform, too. No need to worry about dice and things. You write what you do, and I will work it into the story to give the best drama and progression. I believe there are people here who have actually pplayed with me as a GM before, so they can perhaps give you an idea what it is like.

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

Heh. I downloaded that YEARS ago. I'm actually running a very similar game to my RPoL game as tabletop for my brother and a few friends... *8-) I just prefer to do freeform and statless on RPoL as a GM as it permits more freedom in writing, and does make things a LOT faster when it comes to combat and so forth.

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

Absolutely any of them. :D The characters are companions. It might be better if you give me an idea what sort of character you would like to play, and I can suggest who would be a best fit. There are some pretty obscure characters that most would not know about, but are still canon, which would give you free reign to develop and play them in whatever way you prefer. Most of the TV companions are very well established, but there are characters from the comic and audio stories that only a true hardcore fan would know about, so you could really go to town on it, and I could tell you what backstory stuff you need.

The game concept is that the Doctor is GONE. Completely. And it is your job as a friend to find out how, where, and why. You'll be dropped into adventures. You really do not need to know very much about the series to play it. The information you need will be revealed as the plot progresses. Depending on who you play, you might not have a clue what a Time Lord or a Dalek might be, so detailed knowledge of the show is really not important.

I've got two characters now (one still needs setting up, I shall do that when I have time) and I can run with three. Even better with four!

Thinking and researching ideas and companions. I never really fancied Dr. Who growing up. I watched it but was really a casual fan until the 8th Doctor.

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

He is extremely well provided for in the Big Finish audio adventures, though. Lots of McGann there. He even travels with Mary Shelley as a companion for a while!

Related fact: Paul McGann was the original tv Sharpe. He broke his leg while shooting the football scene in Sharpe's Rifles, and they did not have time to wait for him to heal, so recast as Sean Bean. Sean Bean is not remotely like Sharpe in the books, who is a dark haired cockney. But it was the role that made him a huge star. Paul McGann would have been a superb Sharpe, of course, but it is hard to imagine anybody else but Sean Bean doing it.

Related fact number two: Janet Fielding played Tegan in Doctor Who. She was Paul McGann's agent and landed him the role of the Doctor for the TV Movie.

Re: OOC [Out Of Character]

Vedy interesting facts. I’d wondered how a Yorkshire tyke got cast to play a bloke from London. :D

I would have wanted more McGann in live action given he spent some time sans clothes in Doctor Who

Never seen him on stage, but did see his brother Stephen cast as Geoffrey in The Lion in Winter. It had Sian Phillips as Elinore of Aquitaine, David McCallum as King Henry, and Victor McGuire as Richard. It was a stellar cast and a SUPERB performance.
