To belatedly ask about the IC thread, does it seem like the fox has intentionally led Rose to the train to get on it? Also, has he shown any capacity for communicating with Tiamat? I could imagine Rose getting on it if it seemed like Tiamat and company wanted her there and could get a goodbye message back, but otherwise Rose would feel like she was going "Cool spell, not taking you to America though, lol bye!" ^^'

So, going back to the villain game:
quote:
I think she meant, let's not do just a villainous group that will become murder hobos and sickos. *_* which I can get behind. Otherwise, I think she was totally fine with villainous but not necessarily "the bad guys" of the story. Correct me if I'm wrong on that Rose!

Yep, this :) Like you said Luminary, pretty much that we not play a group of psycho murderer/rapist/torturers/etc. Anything else on that list would probably be fine. (Although hopefully the Acolytes would be more nuanced than the portrayal they sometimes get of "So gang, who're we going to mass murder to show how great our cause is this week?" That doesn't seem too fun.)

This might not 100% fit the original idea, but I have to admit I have a weakness for kid/teen supers, so the reform-school-version of Avengers Academy or Second Generation ideas have that appeal to me :) I'm not the biggest fan of writing around canon, but as long as the characters themselves are original it's doable for me. I'm also a fan of survival games so trapped in the Savage Land could be neat.

That said, pretty much everything on the list sounds like fun to me :) And yeah, modern still gets my vote if the era is still a WIP too. In terms of things I'd rather swing against, I'd rather not have the game be TOO campy, so I'd rather avoid the reality-show angle I think. A-Team would be like, just serious enough though :)

You mean you don't want to be in a Slaughterhouse 9 game? For shame!

Could start the game out like Avengers Arena in the Savage Land. Mmmm....a group of second generation Villains transported to the Savage Land and told only two ways out - either last team standing or to get the McGuffin. I don't think anyone would like the original Deathmatch Arena of Avengers Arena concept. Then just pick a villain(s) of say the 80-90s and away we go. Then if we like it we can expand out of the Savage Land having graduated and see where the idea takes us.

Sorry, starting the Savage Land kind of feels like not being in the modern era, lol. I know we wouldn't necessarily be there forever, but...still.

I'm partial to a Suicide Squad or Thunderbolts style game, personally. Or

@Nic: Agreed, I only put it out there as an alternative.

It seems like he wants to go with to be honest. ;)

Ah, okay :) Is there still a way to get in touch with him, does it seem like? Sorry if it sounds like I'm dithering, I just want to make sure I don't jump the gun IC. Don't want to get on a goddess's bad side after all!

In reply to Rose (msg # 6):

No you're fine, he must be connected somehow, you get the feeling that he's actually some extension of her or possibly some sort of servitor of her.

Oooh a Reynard Watchfox!

So, RE: Supervillains.

Seem to be leaning towards either Teenagers or Suicide/Thunderbolts.

For Teenagers see three major concepts:

Massachusetts Academy - Recruited by an older villain and in training to become villains themselves. They are probably first generation villains, but could include legacies. Example: Hellions.

Young Masters - Legacy villains brought together by older generation to get training and seasoning. Young Masters fits, but see this as more of Young Justice - particularly the first season or two of Young Justice TV show. Might go to school together or separately, probably have a secret base. Most likely legacies, but new villains are possible.

Self-Starters - Group of young villains who gathered together of their own free will. Maybe evil Gen 13? Maybe just go to same high school. Maybe evil Runaways. Legacies and new people welcome.

Thunder Squad!

Suicide Squad - Villains doing villainous things for good? or at least the government, probably because of the explosive collars, gps chips, and possibly explosive gps chips implanted in them. Literally the Suicide Squad as an example. Maybe Dark Avengers depending.

Old School Thunderbolts - Villains doing Heroic things for Villainous Reasons. Just pretending to be good for that money/fame/tech/power, etc. But does act or intention matter more in these cases? First team of Thunderbolts. Also probably Dark Avengers.

New School Thunderbolts - Villains doing Heroic (and sometimes shady) things for either heroic reasons or to get a reduced sentence. Major difference between this and Suicide Squad is this one doesn't as a matter of course go and assassinate people or blow up small third world countries with plausible deniability. Later teams of Thunderbolts.

Ok, I'm in favor of a Thunder Squad, is everyone cool with 80s, or should it take place in the present?

Thunder Squad sounds good to me :) I could probably play a teen semivillain anyways as long as we didn't go Suicide Squad, probably bad government PR to put a bomb collar on a minor. My vote would be for New School to allow for a mix of characters going for pure self-interest vs. wanting to do good in "practical" ways, but old school would be fine too.

I'm fine with the 80s instead of modern as long as nobody minds anachronistic slip-ups, especially in dialogue ;) I can handle tech differences and things like that, but I've played games before with people who feel obliged to point out that, say, a saying didn't enter common usage until a decade later. I don't really think about that kind of thing when I write.

I admit that I could do better with it. I once had a character say "Hey, don't throw me under the bus on this" in a game of Pathfinder without thinking about it :P Happily nobody else took issue.

Luckily, my slang, like my taste in music, has not left the 80s.
