Re: 1.6a --- The Heart of Russia --- Nov.11th, 1908

UPDATE!

The group rests a bit while they recover from their capture, flight and near crash. Some are looking worse than others from the tortures they received from the german scientist.  One guy looks totally fine and ready to kick down the door to leave, the Scotsman. Luminary was feeling refreshed as well, seemingly better than the others after he absorbed their slivers of the mysterious material. The others looked gaunt by comparison but breakfast soon changed that as they shared the little food that Cornelius had on hand. Sil Silan was occupying a small corner of the hut, she watched the goings on as the humans sought to sake their hungers. Natalia and Helen seemed intent on being cheerful despite their situations and sought to feed the heroes as best they could.

Mid-meal, Cornelius pops back into existence astonishingly with a whoosh, like bottled air pressure. They watch as he dusts off some frost from his clothing, yet his hair steamed from some some unfelt heat. He looked truly odd at the moment, even though they knew he could teleport over long distances, it gave the impression that he'd just narrowly escaped with is life from some danger left behind. Natalia smiles warmly, "Welcome back sir."

The business at hand seemed to be what everyone's next moves would be...

For brevity's sake you can all find out from Outreach that you are along the Siberian Express's train route. This is where the other Agents apart from Sil Silan and Luminary are. At this point you are ahead of the train by a thousand miles, you can wait for it or try to convince Outreach to take you to it. FYI, if you wait, I'll make it fun. If not, then you can join up and move faster with Outreach's help.

Angus, you can choose to tag along if you like, up till now, your character has been one of those saved by the Agents and you haven't heard from Mr.X in a while.

Re: 1.6a --- The Heart of Russia --- Nov.11th, 1908

Cornelius shakes his head to clear it, and returns the smile warmly, though he looks a bit preoccupied as he gets his own breakfast.

"Thank you, and good morning to you all.  My apologies for my absence."

"I brought you all here as a place of refuge away from those who might wish you harm."

"However, I was reminded this morning that my gifts come with certain... perils."

"Sometimes, in case of need, my gifts activate on their own, transporting me to where I may be needed.  That is how I ended up on the blimp to meet you all."

"However, if I bring you all to this remote place, and then I am spontaneously transported away from you, then you are all left stranded here until my return."

"We should consider this as we plan."

"My offer to transport you wherever I am able still stands.  I can only transport to places I have been before, but I am fairly well-traveled..."

Re: 1.6a --- The Heart of Russia --- Nov.11th, 1908

UPDATE!

(To quickly deal with Luminary's departure with an option to return...)

The Sliver Bearers all revealed they wished to go home now and Luminary had decided to stay. As of yet, he felt he had a role to play in the outcome of this conflict. However, he didn't want to be a burden he explained and began his journey on foot or whatever he could hitch a ride on, just as soon as Outreach begins to leave with the others. To Sil Silan he said simply, "Tell the others that I'll meet them there once I find it...and I'll leave some clues along the way as I go should an opportunity present itself."

Outreach's efforts seemed to pay dividends when each of the travellers arrive at the destination of their choice. Their eyes well up with tears and not a one of them can resist hugging Cornellius. Each promises to keep in touch, especially Togusa. Helen adds a kiss on the cheek for good measure as she races off to find her family in Florida.

Sil Silan reveals the message to Outreach upon his return and thanks Outreach for providing a way back to the others saying in an unplaceable accent, "Once we're together with the other agents of the Bureau of Investigation, we can fill you in more clearly on what's happened to us and our ultimate goals. Cornelius was it?"

Angus notices shadows playing out across the landscape outside, was it already nightfall? What he saw outside the hut was countryside, seemingly trimmed out of the forested taiga, a thickly snow covered wilderness lay just beyond the fields. Down the road however, he could make out some other huts and a small village nearby. Overhead, a dazzling light show began as the aurora borealis sent waves of glowing sky.

OOC: Okay, feel free to react to this everyone
and then tell us how it goes when we head back
to the train Outreach?

The older man regards Nic with some concern as he heads out, but recognizes that the united slivers probably urge him onward.

After returning the others, he regards his remaining pair of guests with interest.

"Yes, I am Cornelius.  Well met, and 'Peace be unto you.'  How do you both prefer me to address you?"

"Please tell me where you wish to go, and I will bring you as close to your desired destination as I am able..."

Sil cracks a wry smile and nods her head at Angus in respect. "Well met good sir. We have need of fighters I'm told, we'll speak with Agent Phoenix when we meet up with them."

Afterwords, she partially breaks off with Angus to include Cornelius, turning slightly to achieve this, "Cornelius, you've been so kind to us, I'm not sure how we can return the favor?"

The older man inclined his head.

"Anything good I may have been enabled to do is only by God's grace.  It is a privilege to serve."

"I have already transported the others to their desired destinations, for it seems their involvement in these matters ended when they relinquished their slivers to Nic.  As you witnessed after our evacuation from the airship, I was able to learn a few things.  However, it seems that you may know something more.  If you wish, you could fill me in on any details you think I should know."

"Am I to understand that you would like to meet up with your companions aboard the Siberian Express?  If so, do you know the train's schedule, and where and when you wish to reunite with them?"

Re: 1.6a --- The Heart of Russia --- Nov.11th, 1908

<NPC UPDATE!>

"Right," she nods, "I would certainly welcome aid getting back to the train, I believe my map is still aboard with my belongings."

"As for your other question," she gestures between herself and Cornelius, "trading of information is my preferred kind. We've seen quite a lot since we embarked on our seemingly-fated voyage that's led us here. First the Neustria, a boat haunted by sumerian and atlantean patron god. Agent Pheonix and Luminary released the trapped being and the haunt ended. We were interested in who was after the statue and since then we've been stopping fires whereever we see them, and they seem to becoming more frequent. That led us up to the incident at the airship. Luminary and I made it to the airship just in time to release Angus, Helen, and the others."

She gasps for air, almost never expending so much breath in her life, but Cornelius also senses a deeper weakness there, and his inner physician tells him that she is not being dramatic. Now that he's noticing she even looks a little flushed from the efforts.

<NPC'ed UPDATE!>

"Right," she coughs, "I'm not usually so winded but this climate is very different from where I come from. It must be playing havoc with my body. I'd welcome anything you could do for me, but it might just be an ongoing issue."

Cornelius and Angus saw that she looked peaked and pale but still seemed able-bodied at least, no danger of collapsing to the floor in any case. "Truth be told, they were going to disqualify me from this mission due to my frailty, but it seems they thought they needed my skills more."

16:41, Tue 16 Apr: Secret Roll: Outreach rolled 25 using 1d100.  Healing Sil: (Good) Biophysical Control (Damage Transferal). – 25

UPDATE!

Sil looked a bit uncomfortable at being examined so thoroughly, "No need to fuss mister," she said, "this really is just part of my life to be honest. Extremes temperatures are just harder on me. I really do appreciate your concern though."

OOC: You can do it again, but you are basically pretty certain that she can't have a normal physiology, or she would be exhibiting more symptoms of disease, of one kind or another. She simply seems fatigued. So, you didn't fail, you just can't recognize her ailment, if indeed there even is one.

In any event, perhaps it's time to move things forward so we don't lose Angus entirely? ^_^

OOC: Agreed.  Let us move the action forward... :)

The older man nodded empathetically.

"Perhaps then the best cure would be to remove you from this extreme climate as quickly as possible."

"If you wish, you can share what you can recall of when and where your train has traveled to thus far, and what destinations are still ahead."

"Then I can try to deduce a suitable location to transport us to that would allow you to rejoin the train."

NPC UPDATE!

Sil nods at Cornelius' questions and purses her lips thinking back thoughtfully, "Well when we left Berlin it was aboard the flying vessel. Luckily we averted disaster with your intervention and Agent Phoenix's swift defense from Geo. About that time I believe the train was headed towards St.Petersburg. By now, however, I couldn't guess where it would be, maybe getting close to Krassnoyarsk? If I have my geography right, just up the line a ways...Hopefully, that should place us ahead of the train by a short bit."

Angus shadowboxes to the side, energetically throwing punches like people's lives might hang in the balance.

"Right.  Shall we depart, then?  If so, gather your things together now, and I shall transport us there..."

Assuming his companions are agreeable, the older man waits for them to ready themselves, then gently lays a hand upon each of them.

And, in the blink of an eye, the older man's humble abode is empty once again...
