Grune has 2 first level spells left and can use them for healing word or sure wounds, he also gives extra healing when using healing spells.

Not sure if Oraphina has any lay on hands left.

While we wait, and hope that Oraphina has some healing left, I will note that if Grune is a life cleric, his Cure Wounds is good for 1d8+6 or thereabouts while Healing Word is 1d4+6, so a max of 24 hp.

And looking at the "duel" round 1 the half-dragon did 10 damage with his sword and missed with his spear. Round two was 15 damage with his sword. And this time he has three friends!

Perhaps, we can figure out a way to ambush him? Get him to come up the stairs alone?

Korym has some ball bearings and caltrops, the former can knock someone prone on DC 10 DEX (pretty easy to make) the latter on a failed DC 15 DEX make the creature stop for that round and move 10 feet slower afterwards until they are healed.

If we can catch him unaware, a couple of attacks with advantage couldn't hurt!

Not that I really have a vested interest in either choice you make, which is why Grune doesn't get a vote; but I feel I should point out that Einar still has all of his rage and that means he will only take half damage from physical attacks while raging.

I've never played a barbarian, never realised how powerful Rage is! Resistance to the standard weapon damages for 10 rounds and +2 to his own damage! Yoiks!

I'm semi-back, have internet in the new house, that is a mess that I try to get some sense of order in. Trying to give a small post in all my games before going back to the box opening and furniture moving in 26 degree celcius temperature in the no-AC house...

Oraphina used a bit of her healing on herself, I think she still has like 5 points available

Ouch, I can relate, living through a heat wave where I am; I have AC and there are times in the day where it is still oppressive.

Damn that sucks! It's been in the high 20's low 30' here, which is becoming the norm for our summers, but I have lived on the West Coast my whole life and up until the last decade we rarely saw the temperature hit the mid-20's for any length of time.

Okay so the idea is to head somewhere and take a long rest?

And then after the long rest deciding if going back in to finish the rest off is worth it or leave to Elturel; Do I have that right?

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 79):

That's what Korym proposed and no arguments have been posted! :-)

From what I recall of the canyon, we want to stick to the left side when we leave as the hunters were camped on the right, near one of the guard towers.

Ideally we can exit the canyon and find a defensible spot on the ridge or in the surrounding brush.

In answer to Korym's question, it is in fact the middle of the night.

Now for a question of my own. Is the group taking a short or long rest?

Korym needs a long rest - but his long rest is only 4 hours instead of 8 hours. But I'm guessing it would be best if everyone gets all their hp back and whatever tricks they burned in the cave.

That was pretty violent for a recon mission!

Korym what time during the night do you send shadow out, as soon as you get there, when the rocks begin to fall as the cultists patrol or during the morning some time like when the sun is coming up?

Thanks for the map!

Our cave looks to be facing almost west - I think the plan might still work. As much as plans ever work in D&D. We take out the patrol on our side when the sun is in the south, which may prevent the north side patrol from noticing they are missing for a bit.

We can then move out, southwest and then circle north if we want to go back to Greenest; or southeast and then circle north  if we want to go straight to Elturel to meet up with the monk.

Just let me know what you guys' plan to do.

Also, I don't know everything about Forgotten Realms but does the sun not rise in the east and set in the west in this universe?

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 88):

That's my presumption. Did I screw it up in my "plan"?

When the sun is in a southerly point, the patrol on the northside will be looking into the sun so if we kill the closest patrol, the north patrol may not notice the south patrol is missing (assuming there is no prolonged noisy battle).

Then we can leave and should not be seen by the north patrol, nor the guards at the cave.
