RTJ and the Houserules

Ideas for new characters for this group will be lighter in tone. Really just looking for players as we will go through character and gang creation in Thread Zero. Instead, I'll just need you to tell me how familiar you are with the setting, system and your willingness to kill your darlings. There will be a lot of posting done in short order, but hopefully when the dust settles, we will be able to get to the brass tacks and get steaming, so really I'm just looking for players

My rules are simple:
-Each and every player has a responsibility to treat each other with respect. Each and everyone of us will have different things to contribute at different points.
-We will establish the canon over the course of play, so things that are not set in stone by the rulebook are only subject to change until they are required to be discussed.
-This game will touch upon some more mature topics. However, excesses and Adult themes will not be allowed. Vices are a cornerstone of this game, but leave all details of such in the typical Fade to Black fashion
-Respond to this RTJ with "El, Psy, Kongroo" if interested and agreeing to these rules.
-I expect each player to be able to post 3-5 times per week, with possibly multiple posts at a time as this is a highly conversation based game. Sometimes you will need to ask for things like a Devil's Bargin for a scene. As for the conversation of inventing new gadgets/rituals where we need to talk back and forth for a bit, we can handle extensive conversations like this in the PM's.
-Feel free to download the free pdf from https://bladesinthedark.com/ for copies of the playbooks.

By the way... this is definitely a Rule of Cool style game that will be fairly light in tone. Don't worry, the setting is creepy enough.

RTJ and the Houserules

So, how will I, the GM, handle all the stuff that goes on in this game. This is a very conversation and fiction heavy game, so it will take some time to handle everything, right? Hopefully, with a bit of planning (I know. In this system?), I can make this an enjoyable experience for everyone of you.

So, I'm going to use the OOC Threads for flashbacks and Devil's Bargains. Not for the flashback scene itself, but just for the request and the stress cost. The scene itself should be resolved in the game thread. Unlike what I do when I run this IRL, I won't be asking you if you want a Devil's Bargain, although I might prod you in the post via a private line if I'm worried about your success for some reason.

I anticipate this getting very spicy. Don't worry about progress clocks. I'll keep them public for each group and in my own posts for each score. Downtime will be handled in the score threads as well so that the next score thread will start with Gather Information and the Engagement Roll. If you feel like you are just getting thrown right into the action, I want to remind you that is a feature of this system.

Each score will have it's own thread to help itemize everything in some order. Also, because I like reading and learning from my mistakes and successes, those threads will be closed when the next one starts, but the will be available for everyone's reading.

Lastly, Load and how I run it. You can pull a number of items from your pack each score equal to your load. You don't need to tell me you're bringing it as you're scoundrels and have the perfect tool for you job on you. If you run out of Load, you can still have the perfect tool for the job. It will just be done via flashback. This goes especially for Armor of all types (except special, but that has it's own rules). If you want to take advantage of armor, you need to be wearing it before the consequences you wish to resist/lessen. If you want to use load to be wearing armor in response to taking Harm, that will require a flashback and a Load, and will cost you stress.

Each Group is it's own separate universe, so for group specific in game cannon, that will be handled on a case by case basis. There are just some things that the rules as written just don't cover, to which I'll apply the Rule of Cool and then I will apply that ruling to every similar situation in game. If I make a mistake, please call it out in the OOC thread and I will edit and retcon what it was.

Edit: One thing I forgot. Resistance checks will be handled in the Score Thread. If another player wants to take the consequences and resist them by using the bodyguard teamwork action, they can do so normally just as long as there isn't 3 people at once trying to do so and it makes narrative sense.
