School was ahead, and various groups of students were ahead... and some of them were staring at Elizabeth.

It was very, very hard to approach the school.  Everyone would be staring at her!  Okay, they weren't yet, but surely...

"What's going on?" Elizabeth asked out loud.

Nothing obviously was going on; in actual fact, students weren't staring at her.  But it was still awkward...

...why did that girl over there have a dragon's tail?

"Do you see that too, Carly?" Elizabeth asked.

"Which?" said Carly.  "Erica and Tommy going to school together?  Dakota and Kim not going to school together?  Or that girl with the dragon tail?"

"The dragon tail, obviously," Elizabeth said.

"Well, yeah, I see that," said Carly.  "After seeing you, that's less shocking than the other two, though."

"It's still pretty weird," Elizabeth said.

"True," said Carly.  "Want to go say hi?"

"Might as well, they might be having a hard time too," Elizabeth said.

"Okay!" said Carly.

Well, there was dragon-tail girl, right over there.  Elizabeth might need to make the first move.

"Hi there," Elizabeth said.

The girl turned, then looked at Elizabeth.  Her eyes widened.

"YOU!" she said, and it looked like she was getting ready to deck Elizabeth!

"What did I do?" Elizabeth asked.

The girl swung at her, abruptly, connecting with great force!

The girl, roaring, swung again, barely missing.

"I don't want to fight you!" Elizabeth said, throwing a wild punch.

The blow missed, and the dragon-girl lashed out with her tail, striking another mighty blow!  She was roaring in anger, and clearly not listening to anything Elizabeth said.

DC 25 Toughness save again

Just Dazed and Bruised.  You can still act.

Elizabeth punched the girl back as hard as she could.

The girl's head snapped back, but she clearly wasn't seriously hurt at all, and her eyes gleamed red--

and the school's chimes sounded, and students began hurrying inside to class, including the dragon girl, at great speed.

"Huh?" Elizabeth said, as she stood there.

"Come on!" said Carly.  "It's time for class!"

"But-but she was trying to kill me and then she left when the bell rang," Elizabeth said.

"Well, I guess she doesn't want to miss class to kill you!" said Carly.  "Let's go!"

"Okay," Elizabeth said heading to class.

Class seemed normal enough... the teacher hadn't remarked on Elizabeth's horns, either.

...Someone with wings went by in the hallway outside.

"I-I don't think I should say hi," Elizabeth said.

"Well, what do you know about them?" Carly asked.  "I guess the dragon-girl doesn't like you..."

"I'm thinking none of them will," Elizabeth said. "My ancestor mentioned that's happen."

"Are you gonna have to fight her?" Carly asked.  "She seems really strong."

"I don't want to fight her. Maybe there's some way we can talk it out," Elizabeth said.

"It looks like that's going to be a real challenge," said Carly.  "She didn't even let you talk to her..."

"Yeah, I'm worried about more of them," Elizabeth said.

"Did old you have any advice?" Carly asked.

"Deal with them first," Elizabeth said.

"Did she say how you have to do that?" Carly asked.  "Maybe you can... I don't know.  Challenge them to something you can win at?  Or send them flowers and candy?"

"I don't know, maybe I could talk with the one with wings? I'll try catching up to them," Elizabeth said, heading off to.

There was that winged girl, going about her own business...

"Um, hi there," Elizabeth said to the girl.

The girl turned around, smiling... and then took in Elizabeth's horns and tail.  Her eyes narrowed; her expression changed to a snarl.

"Wait! Wait! I don't want to fight you!" Elizabeth said.

"I know all about you!" the girl snarled.  "Why should I trust you?"

"I didn't ask for this anymore than you did," Elizabeth said.

"So you say, but why should I believe you?" she asked.

At least she wasn't attacking...

"I woke up like this today, with my ancestor telling me all about how I'm the new demon queen and I don't want any of it!" Elizabeth said.

"Or you're trying to get me to drop my guard, like you did last time," said the girl.

"What last time?" Elizabeth asked. "This is the first time I've met you!"

"No, I remember you, Demon Queen," she said.  "My past life and yours.  I remember how you got us to drop our guard and tricked us..."

"I don't remember anything! I'm still the same person I was yesterday!" Elizabeth said.

"But why would I believe that?" she asked.

"What would I have to do to get you to believe me?" Elizabeth asked.

"You're the one who wants me to," said the winged girl.  "...come up with something.  I'll let you try, at least."

"I don't want anything to do with you people! I just want to live my life! I don't like this situation anymore than you do! I don't want to have to fight you people! I don't like fighting!" Elizabeth said.

"But you're just saying things, over and over," said the Winged Girl.  "And that doesn't mean anything!"

"Because I don't have any proof. It's not like I can summon the original up,"" Elizabeth said before turning around and heading back.

"Well, she didn't hit you," said Carly.  "Beyond that, how did it go?"

"Not good. I don't have any proof I'm not my ancestor," Elizabeth said.

"Well... maybe you could do something to show that you trust her?" Carly suggested.  "Or look for some other chance to, you know, act like a friend or something?"

"I'll try it, but they all seem to know my past self already," Elizabeth said.

"That's why you've got to go bigger than just talking and telling them you're cool," said Carly.  "Do something to really show it!"

"Yeah, but what if they team up against me?" Elizabeth asked.

"Better move fast, then," said Carly.

Elizabeth let out a frustrated sigh and rubbed her head.

"We'll have to do a lot of training tonight."

"Sure thing," said Carly.  "Maybe we should think of ideas, too."

"I hope so. This has been a nightmare," Elizabeth said.

"Well, it should be better if you can maybe get one of the girls on your side?" Carly suggested.  "I mean, having friends should help, right?"

"Yeah, but I have to figure out how to get one on my side," Elizabeth said.

"Maybe try something like making yourself vulnerable?" asked Carly.  "Or try and meet them somewhere where they feel safe?"

...it sounded a little like dating advice.

"I'll try, but that first one makes me nervous with how hostile they've been," Elizabeth said.

"Yeah, but you have to try something," said Carly.  "Just for your own safety!"

"I'll think of something," Elizabeth said. "Maybe on holy ground or something?"

"That might work," said Carly.  "Um, will you be all right on holy ground?"

"...I don't know," Elizabeth said.

"Maybe we should find out, then," said Carly.  "I mean, first."

"I probably should. I'm probably going to freak out the priest though," Elizabeth said.

"Churches are pretty big, aren't they?" said Carly.  "I'll bet you could sneak around and not get caught."

"We'll have to try it after training," Elizabeth said.

"Sounds good!" said Carly.

Somehow, no monster-girls attacked Elizabeth for the rest of the day.

"I have to go home to make dinner and then we can test out my powers," Elizabeth said to Carly.
