I am working out what races will be prevalent in the setting, they can be taken as PC races as well. I hope to have this and some basic geography put together by late friday to early saturday. I will also include a quick update on the starting location of the game. you are welcome to use this information when you fine tune your characters.

just please keep in mind that i will not officiate your characters, so if you keep forgetting a particular bonus i will not be going over every roll, decision, or modifier to be sure that you are getting to most out of your character's abilities. you have to keep up with it, i will only step in if i feel as though something is being unduly exploited, is too powerful a combination, or you are trying to pull a fast one on me.

mostly, i'm just lazy.

i'm going to use all the races list in the race guide. i may through in one or two here and there. i like a see shining, alien, and unusual faces.

besides, i always felt like the elves should have been bad guys (basically all elves should have been handled like original drow from the vault), the orcs good guys, and minotaurs just get a bad rap (who doesn't like a big mac attack anyway).

I'll need to finish up on magic items but my sheet's ready for looking over, and then I'm ready to play!

The characters look good. I can't copy/paste Penny's sheet so if you would like in the character details you have to do it. if not i don't mind checking the link.

i know that you guys know each other and probably know a lot about one another's characters, but i don't. so if you wouldn't mind go into the character thread and describe the character's relationships, if any, to one another.

i'm assuming the characters have a history with one another, but it isn't a necessity. work out whatever ties the characters have to each other if any and i will go with that when the game begins.

also if you would like to throw a little creativeness into the world answer the questions in the Vaiden and You thread and I will use those detail in expanding the world and the story lines.

i will try finish a basic map of the area the party is in to give you some feel for where you are. also, i will try to put out some basic world info like major kingdoms, gods, notable history, ect.

Sounds good. Previously we all knew each other as we were 12th level in the game we all worked together on these characters but I'd say this should be an earlier stage in everyone's career. As 3rd level characters we MIGHT have met a little but I wouldn't imagine anything strongly existing

I am screwed up with the maps, well, i deleted them by mistake. no worries, it was only around six hours of work!

so, in the land of Alkuff (All-cuff) in the capital city of Kardican (Car-de-can). the city is not large, about 5,000 residents in the gates, in the surrounding township, and the farms out about a mile along the old road.

the majority of the populace is a roughly even mix of human, halfling, and dwarf. there is a good sized community of elves in the nearby forests and more than a few little villages of orcs and goblins.

primary trade products are lumber, iron ingots, and dwarven liquors. other common trade goods include tools, weapons, wagons, carts, sheep, sheep dogs, cement, and flagstone. the city isn't a bucket of wealth, but the average citizen enjoys a good life and poverty isn't a common condition in the capitol.

King Alfred the Wise, 44, Human (more commonly known as the Bold - too much fighting)
Queen Lelu, Half Elf, 23 (Lelundra Goldleaf - the fourth Queen in 18 years)
Princess Sildine, Human, 15 (Only heir, from second wife - educated and entitled)

Standing army, the King's Guard, has around 100 knights, 300 more cavalry, 800 infantry, 300 archers, and a handful of specialists. Currently the Guard is divided into to the three 'divisions', the Southern Division in on patrol in the southern part of the kingdom, the Northern Division in the north, and the Capitol Guard is stationed in Kardican.

Not currently at war with anyone but there is a lot of activity such as banditry, raiders, and monsters in Alkuff.

There are a few petty kingdoms to the north, similar to Alkuff really, that have been at war for a decade or so. That is a week's ride away. To the east, about ten days or so away, if the border of the Il Dracoi Empire - one of the largest nations in all of Vaiden and it is owned and operated by clans of Vampires. Yep, a vampire empire. say that really fast five times in a row. i dare you.

Love it, very evocative. Hope my writeup wasn't too over-anticipated!

the unconscious elf gal is wearing a cloak of wool lined with satin, a long tunic made of very fine linen, breaches made of the same linen, knee high boots of well tanned leather, and a thin silken scarf. At her waist was a thin belt with a ornate silver buckle that mounted a soft leather purse, a dagger that looked out of place with her attire due to its functional nature, and a wand in a slim case. She was carrying a slim leather and oiled canvas pouch hanging over one shoulder that holds a collection of potions, a small pouch, and a map case.

all together, including the gambison, she weighs about 110 pounds.

my guess is that you have a case of the canthelpits, happens to all of us at times. it will pass. the cause is acute exposure to real like. the cure is rest, good food, and a little patience. that is why so many people suffer from it.

ok, so the maps are a bus again. still to big to use. using a map maker and trying to import the image into the maps is a pain. i will try another way.

Where you are headed is about twenty five miles south along an old road made from flagstone pavers known as the old trade road. it comes from a time when the vast continent you are on was once all part a single kingdom. Parts of Kardican are rebuilt in the ruins of some old, old city.

It will take two days, one night only, of travel to get to where the elf maiden's husband is encamped in the wilderness. he is known to be embroiled with a small war against a tribe of nomadic green skins. think orcs, goblins, ogres, and the like that travel around like a tribe of roaming vikings just looting, killing, raping, and generally oppressing those they come across.

the weather will continue to be cool, stormy, and generally no fun to travel in the whole time, so if you need some sort of gear to cope with it feel free to acquire it without role playing a shopping stop. You probably would have had it anyway.

Once every has made ready to travel I will move the scene along in a new post covering the travel to the camp. there is most likely be a not so random encounter where Cthuhl, um a bad guy, shows up to devour Penny with some onions and ketchup.

I will try again to get a map involved. thanks for the patience there.

First day I've got myself and four other creatures (my mules and the two of you with the worst Fort saves I suppose) getting a +2 to resist any weather effects.

Barg, the fleeing goblins are mounted on those giant spiders of theirs and hauling major ass you can't catch them but your attempt to do so will add to their sense of urgency and their leader is down and dying. Brengalyn slapped a goblin unconscious and cracked his skull in the process, but he is salvagable. People were really caught by surprise, just as Brengalyn was, by the illusionary ogre Thankis, And Penny's song had everyone's blood up like the Slipknot playing 'Spit it Out' at Download in England back in 2009.

Just to be clear, this battle seems to have happened close by and move into the area. You don't believe it happened specifically because you are in the area. Though it is possible that the two parties of warriors were both on their way to investigate the commotion Barg caused and encountered one another.

i will move the scene forward to the camp, this is where you will meet the commander of this company, and the husband of the elf maiden, he is a human by the way.

unless you want to do anything specific or make some sort of plans for what to do in camp pertaining to your characters' interests i will post in the morning to move this scene forward. if i haven't posted by early afternoon someone pm to get on my case and do it.

For my part I'm honestly an easy character. Getting to a kitchen to start preparing spells and stuff for later might be helpful if we have downtime with these guys, but otherwise I'm good to just wander around as an old halfling.

Also able to do druidic stuff if they need something involving animals or plants?

Well obviously as this trip has provided no profit, Brengalyn will need to let off some steam and have fun. At least enough to stop her hedonist drawback . . .

Hey so, I've been meaning to post today but I'm really drained I'm sorry I just don't have it in me

nice chat going guys. there is a board posting work to be done in the tavern. it's kind of a thing to do since taverns are natural gathering places.

many farmers are looking to hire protection for their farms the two most notable are a large apple orchard back towards the fighting you all passed and the largest farm in the area is experiencing raids on its herds of cows, horses, and goats. as the saying goes the Orcs of the attacking army get hungry, hate walking, and need someplace to focus their sexual urges.

there are many adds to look for missing people, most of them from farms, villages, and mines back in the area you passed through to get here. One is the daughter of a mine owner with a promise wealth to fill small keg, another is the husband of a local healer and herbalist promising goods over coin, and the third most lucrative is much further eastward into the valley where a so-called elemental mage needs a person of interest found and brought back to his keep for a bag of gold and knowledge arcane.

the hiring posts for mercenaries do not offer a lot in payment, most promise food, lodging, a ration of liquor, arrows, bolts, armor repair, a steady weakly income of 5 to 10 gold pieces, and a bonus on ears.

there is a single call to adventure, a cleric know as Brother Yuri is offering information and a reward for the exploration of a ruined keep deep in the mountains. He can be found at the temple of a strangely named deity known as Fingal Fellhand.

Nice job guys, if you need to grab some supplies for the trek to the area where the hunters are you can head over to the trading depot. if not you can head northeast out of town. it is about twenty miles to get where you are going. there are a few enlightened trails referred to as roads. the going will tough to get there in a day, two days would be a safer and less taxing trip for the draft horses. if you any questions that need to be asked OCC go ahead.

I'd say do the two day ride especially if we're pulling our wagon. Pool a little gold and buy up some rations and a little road supplies like lard, drink and meat to keep Thamkis provisioned and we should be good to go.

In terms of ranged, arrows for me, what's everyone else need?

the employer, the guy who owns the trading post, will provide basic needs like the things you have mentioned. just make a note of what you need.

Barg has best ranged weapon there is! Barg!

All seriousness, I don't need much, though rations for the trip there and back, a little extra in terms of food to provide for the men should we find them (anything they might not have at moment) that's all I need

cool, when you are ready, make a quick post about leaving the town and i will have the bad guys swoop in and kill you all with arrows of gentle death +7.

Don't think I've shot my crossbow yet, but a set of bolts is always missed when you don't have them.

so, we haven't discussed XP, but you guys have done really awesome. i have really enjoyed it. once you decide on how to deal with the  orcs. level up.

great job guys, it is late afternoon, the camp is located in a small, stream-side clearing that you could sneak up on in about 30 to 40 minutes. It is along the general direction to where the hunters are camped. so, it is likely these are  the Orcs that have been attacking the hunter's wagons.

we should turn this into a Netflix series, i'll give penny another night to post. i will move the scene forward tomorrow. i really get a kit out of this game.

Thanks for the compliment, we're all players who know each other and these characters didn't originate in the same group. So each personality is selected because we thought "oh wow these would go so well together!"

yes, the orc barg attacked is dead. he died a particularly gruesome, and quite troubling, death. it seems barg may end up with a reputation among the orcs soon. good job guys. what's next? you can plan and post here or in IC. and i will move the game forward based on that. angain, very entertaining, very cool.

Is there a small group (three or fewer) or single orc away from the thirty? And for the others sake (Barg would not really care) is this completely a combat group or do they seem settled more (young, noncombatants, elderly orcs)?

about half actually, but it is the ones that are nearby. not all are dead, a few are trapped still in the webs.

oh, and merry christmas, everyone gains a level, i believe you guys are all playing gestalt characters so increase by a gestalt level, that would be both classes together as i recall. correct me if i am wrong.

the art of good roleplaying is the art of letting your inner child run amok in conversation so it can't knock over the potted plants in the hallway. again.

There is a lot of confusion in the camp. The former captives are fighting for their freedom, but they lack much in the way of weapons and have no armor. the Orcs who are closer to where the party is understands that their comrades to an ass-whooping and are leery about the situation.

i will update the game soon. i have been dealing with covid. about over it.

lease take your time and take care of yourself. we're content to do some role playing :)

Haven't seen it yet. debating on watching it. i feel that something like that may not be the best thing for the game. from what i hear it has more in common with an adult game here than a campaign at the table.

thamkis is pretty damned sure that the statue is basically an ancient guardian of sorts. anyone who tries to steal, kill, or destroy in this place will suffer its magically endowed wrath.
