Options for Themed Groups



OPTIONS FOR THEMED GROUPS

INQUISITOR CELLThe standard Dark Heresy variant whereupon a group of characters work within a cell framework for a Lord Inquisitor rooting out the enemies and intrigues relevant to their Ordo. Depending on the Lord Inquisitor's philosophy this will be either a Puritan group who all belong to the human species and Imperium factions or a more radical group consisting of literally anyone who has been properly vetted and adds value to the mission.
  • Tier 1 = Brand new recruits into the Inquisition
  • Tier 2 = Seasoned cell with a few missions under their belt.

IMPERIUM TASK FORCEThe characters form a group of exceptional stand-outs from their respective Imperium factions. This can include any sort of arrangement of archetypes including abhumans so long as they fit within the framework of an Imperium keyword specific group (ratling snipers, beastmen auxiliary troopers, etc).
  • Tier 1 = A task force assembled for low level missions typically involving the interests and oversight of one specific faction (Militarum, Arbites, Administratum, etc)
  • Tier 2 = Veterans assembled for more high level missions that often involve the interests and oversight of more than one faction. (Ex. A mechanicus expedition supported by the Militarum)

SPACE MARINE SQUADA group of astartes initiates or a true chapter squad maneuver their way through hostile territories rooting out threats and performing search and rescue, seek and destroy or more nuanced operations for the glory of their Chapter and the Imperium.
  • Tier 2 = A group of initiates must work together on low level operations to earn their Black Carapace
  • Tier 3 = A seasoned squad of versatile warriors led by a tactical marine and filled out with assault, devastator and apothecary marines do the holy work of the Emperor.

ROGUE TRADER CREWWhile not entirely similar to the original Rogue Trader system, this character group belongs to the crew of a rogue trader house and ventures out on endeavours that achieve the ends of their Captain.
  • Tier 1 = Newly hired on to the crew of an intrepid vessel you perform roles in the junior ranks and occasionally venture out on special assignments to secure further prestige for the noble house you now serve
  • Tier 2 = The Rogue Trader is one of you and the rest are his most trusted and loyal compatriots. Each of you leads a specific function of the vessel and ensure the success of all ventures as well as secure the accrual of new opportunities.

MERCENARY/PIRATE CREWA group that operates outside of the lines, you consist of anyone who is capable of being flexible to both your assignment and who you end up working with. Depending on your makeup you could be the enemies of many in the Imperium and more often than not who you work for would prefer noone knows you work for them. Xenos, scum, even those tainted by chaos and bound only by the stipulations of service could be involved in this theme.
  • Tier 1 = A group of outcasts and/or criminals have managed to survive long enough to get signed on with either a pirate vessel or a benefactor who has specific interests which require discretion. You are all guns for hire and the highest bid just happen to put you all together.
  • Tier 2 = You are a formidable mercenary group that has worked together for some time. Perhaps one of you is a disgraced rogue trader or simply a former ganger who fell into a vessel of your own. Regardless, you have a reputation in the underbelly of the sector and have the luxury of choosing your jobs.

THE IMPERIAL GUARDA squad of grunts putting in your time and doing your best to keep the war machine of the Imperium fully functional. This is derivative of an Only War type game. Led by an officer, the squad can be as diverse as needed with archetype options for beastmen auxiliary troops, ratling snipers, ogryn shock troops or even the glorified and relentless tempestuous scions.
  • Tier 1 = A rookie squad newly formed yet to be tested in battle. Likely on a first patrol or recon mission in some backwater.
  • Tier 2 = A veteran squad with some real killers. Deployed on special assignment into the thick of wherever the Imperium is bringing the light of the Emperor in with swift and determined violence.

XENOSYou all belong to the same xenos species and work together to forward their aims. Aeldari scouts, ork warboys and kroot mercs are all options here. Likely hunted by the Imperium if not on uncontested soil there are very few easy options for this group.
  • Tier 1 = The rank and file of your species you do your best to find ways to achieve the small victories for your masters.
  • Tier 2 = Accomplished and respected among your kind, you are often sought after for tasks which require a more exceptional approach.

NECROMUNDAThe underhive of any Imperium city is a dangerous place and ruled by rival gangs constantly vying for territory, resources and leverage. Those involved in this seedy environment can come from all walks of life but generally work on favours owed and favours due.
  • Tier 1 = You are a dredger, a lowly initiate into a powerful underhive gang or someone conscribed through necessity and largely because you have no better options.
  • Tier 2 = One of you leads your gang through the degenerate and contentious poloticks of the underhive. The rest of you are the generals and highest regarded members, all part of one cause. To rule the underhive. It's not just survival, it's a way of life.
