If they are willing to try to be good he'd give them the option of dying later if they were lying or didn't have the strength of character to follow through.  Willingness to reason and talk through options leading to peace is important. Each subsequent chance, if they already had one,would be exponentially more difficult to reason out as workable.

??    The acts you're talking about are not equivalent --  a clean death to an adult enemy isn't the same as infanticide, or removing an eye in an act of sadism.

There can be a good outcome from a clean death to an adult enemy --  which is that they won't be committing evil acts tomorrow.

When you're talking about "them," you realize this is an enemy that will reciprocate your mercy by murdering a ten year old girl they find wandering the woods next week?     And,  whose responsibility is it, then, when that happens?    Was that kobold's life a good bargain for that of the child?

Vigilante justice is not justice. We invaded their home, they defended themselves.

If the GM has no issue with these actions, then it is a done deal, but that doesn't mean Piestar doesn't find it objectionable.

Actually...

They invaded the mine and killed the gnome guards a week ago.  The gnomes tried to take it back and more gnomes died. Barty even mentioned that he'd been fighting Kobolds trying to encroach in the area for going on 25 years.

Then we showed up...originally because we took a job from the wizard who owns 30% of the mine to get it going again.  If the gnomes hadn't sold their portion to the gem cutter guild they would have employed us just like the guild did.

I found a post in the OOC thread (#335).

The funds were split amongst the group at that point in time, leaving the group treasure at:

• 5 Sparrows
• 2 Hawks
• 1 Crude Net
• 1 Hunting Horn made from a goats horn (claimed by Piestar)

So that's 2 silver and 5 copper - probably be just as simple to start from scratch with the current group!!

Also to note, we are using the much simpler 100 copper = 10 silver = 1 gold (2 electrum = 1 gold and 10 gold = platinum).

And for completeness (gotta satisfy the OCD) the coins are named:

copper = sparrows; silver = hawks; electrum = eagles; gold = lions; and platinum = griffons.

Is it a pouch with the components for invisibility in it, or an invisible pouch with components it it? Either way, I guess Piestar would ask for it.
