Re: OOC Chatter (1)

Hey all...been a rough year, not that everyone else hasn't been having rough years too ;)

When I get things slowly ironed out I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing and thankfully without the stupidity of Kossoth.  I'd been hoping to thread a narrow needle with him and instead ran straight into a brick wall and fell off a cliff...sorry it came about that way, no excuses to be made on my end.  Was a bad choice to even try.

Hope everyone else has been having a good year though.

At our current pace, you have a month or two! ;-P I hope not! I hope to get this going again as it is a good game with good players, just a bad DM.

The other players a good, agree, but disagree about the DM. He's not bad at all. Just forgets stuff sometimes. :P

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

I'm trying to figure out how the others got to the other side of the pit, which for the life of I could not remember.  Found this:

Kestrel skirts the pit and joins Ulle in attacking the kobolds with his blade.

Which implies one can go around the pit, rather than needing to climb down into it.     Is that so?

Superb. Once the corpses have been processed and sent to the morgue, Adan can talk to the three living kobolds and see if we can get anything out of them.

At this point, Kestrel is ready to throw them into their pit of spears!

A dead celbit tells no lies!

How much do poultices heal, again?   I don't see it in the house rules.

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

Found this in the classes thread.

Binding Wounds or using a poultice can give back up to 1d3 hp of healing.

Poultice costs 3gp 1d3 hp back
Bandages cost  1sp 1 hp back

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

More questions:
  • Rough diameter of the round room? 210 feet
  • Rough diameter of the pillar (which I believe is in the centre of the room)? 30 feet.
  • Any other exits from the round room visible?
No.

Answered!

Just curious, in what universe is murdering helpless prisoners not evil?

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

In a violent medieval style game, I've usually been more of the school that torture would be evil, but a quick death to an evil creature is not.   Whether or not they can defend.

AD&D is pretty much built on the premise of 'kill the humanoids so they don't proliferate and bring misery to innocents.'   I've been in numbers of games where good characters give clean, quick deaths to captured humanoids.

Is it really more noble to hack someone apart, slowly, in a fight, and leave them gurgling in their own blood, than send them off with a quick, clean thrust?  I don't buy it.    Not when speaking of those who just tried to kill you.

To me, that's more a matter of some honor code, than conscience or compassion.

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

Well Vareth is an Envoy of Rao and this covers some of their basic idea...

Rao teaches that the greatest gift is reason, which leads to discourse, which leads to peace, which leads to serenity. For those who refuse to see reason and resort to violence first, action--governed by reason and wisdom--is required to restore the peace. Sometimes this action is violent, regrettably.

Also I think I'm pretty much good to go boss.

Sweet, murdering the helpless is Lawful Good. Got it.

I was in a campaign once where the local lord had a giant in chains. We went to question him, when for no real reason the Paladin took out his eye with a sword. Turned out that was acceptable in that world too.

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

Here I thought Piestar was unhappy with Kestrel's comment about throwing them in the spear pit...and then I read the IC posts that happened between 4am and 9am my time!

Here I thought rangers were blood-thirsty when it comes to humanoids. Although, I wasn't planning on actually throwing them in the pit! I was thinking one of those movie scenes where the bad guy is held over the side of the building.

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

Piestar isn't a ranger actually. LOL. There is a difference between facing them in combat, and slaughtering them when helpless I guess. When we find a room full of baby kobolds, and the party wants to bathe in their blood, I wont be joining in.

Re: OOC Chatter (1)

I meant that Kestrel (ranger) would be more blood-thirsty to kill humanoids compared to Adan's Fighter/Thief...after all rangers relish is killing the giant-class types.
