well we can't expect you two to not get into trouble so I better lend you my spear arm in case you find more trouble than you know what to do with

I propose we try and get closer quickly, else they may go to bed and well have nothing to learn until morning.  Unless any of you is a honeypot.  Show of hands for honeypots?

The elf looks pointedly at Brevis, whispering despite the fact the other group were s considerable distance away. "Most definitely not I."

"I would suggest a small number of us see what we can find out and come back to the group, all if us moving at once is likely to attract their attention."

Here we are. In the land of the forbidden. Two souls bicker about pots of honey then two souls take point as honeypots. Clay the wise works in mysterious ways. But it is not my role to question, it is to obey. Please be careful... Be safe, we have your backs.

Eyrer smiles and waves to Brevis and Hildemin and stands ready to follow.
He turns silent and listens to a voice from deep inside.
It's the call of his destiny.

Re: I.C. JOURNEY

Brevis stalks towards the other group, their swaying lanterns making it easy for him to chart their progress through the undulating plains.

As he gets closer he is able to make out more details of their party...

The three lights at the front of the group are held by humanoid figures, with a ragged line of people walking behind them, perhaps a dozen in total. Another figure bearing a lantern follows behind those. Each of the figures bearing a light also seems to have a dog or wolf of some sort on a leash along with them.

Brevis gets within a 100 yards or so of the line when one of the animals starts barking and straining at the leash in his direction.

The figure holding the leash jerks it back angrily at first, muttering something about not chasing rabbits of something similar, but then pays more attention when the beast keeps on barking.

"Oi! Someone following us?" He shouts in the general direction of Brevis.

He motions toward the line of people now in view.  Were it possible, a close enough individual might see Brevis' blood rising to a boil.

"What you see out there?" The man asks his hound, looking out into the darkness, his eyes scanning the area near Brevis.

"Can't see anything..." He mutters.

One of the other guards comes over and they hold a brief hushed conversation.

"Fetch..." Chuckles the guard as he slips the leash from the dog, the barking animal springing away from the column of men and making a beeline for where Brevis is crouching.

OOC: Initiative...

Brevis if you can roll a D10; the hound is at Long range from your position.

Added target 5 as placeholder...I'll add that Brevis has his throwing axe in hand and is very ready for blood.  If he can, Brevis would like to very quickly tear a small piece of cloth from the most convenient garment on his person.

From her position close to Brevis, a small sigh as if from an exhaled breath can be heard. Brevis can vaguely make out the elves' bow in her hand, though he can't be sure in the dark if she has loosed a shot yet.

OOC: Heldemin has rolled a 1 for Initiative and has taken her action for the opening round.

Eyrar senses that trouble is at foot. Quickly he reasches for his bow Aurora and moves in the dark shadows of the land towards the guards. His intention is to put an arrow in one of them before they realize what happened. And strike fear in the enemy thus creating an opportunity for Brevis and Heldemin to get an advantage.
Eyrer feels the rush of adrenalin skarpen his senses as he aims for the guards.
Let Clay the wise guide my arrow and send these evil men to the valley of death!

Re: I.C. JOURNEY

With arrows and axes flashing by it's head, the hound (a large, dark furred creature, with a fearsome looking jaw) makes a bee-line for Brevis and bites at him.

OOC: Attack will hit unless Brevis is able to Dodge (no parrying weapon in hand), which would be a Move roll needing 1 or more success.

If not Dodged or Parried:

The creature lunges forward and it's jaws catch flesh as Brevis takes a nasty bite to his arm.

Brevis would take 2 Damage to STR and also need to make a Sickness (an Opposed ENDURANCE skill vs the diseases Virulence roll) roll against a Virulence 5 disease.

The elf drops her bow, unsheathing a dagger and readies herself for a strike against the hound .

OOC: Next round she'll be able to attack..

Either Brevis or Eyrar can post nex, as you're both before the hound.

Don't forget, any damage to your attributes comes off your die pool too.

Eyrar's arrow flies true and sinks into the shoulder of the snarling beast, causing it to flinch in pain for a brief moment.

It still lashes out a Brevis, however, who must try to defend himself from the beast's attack.

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
OOC: Hound got 1 success with its reduced stats... Brevis can Dodge or Parry (remember there's a -2 to dodge if you don't want to end up Prone.. Parry would include Gear bonus for staff, but also be penalised by damage to STR.)

The hound bites Brevis, growling as it worries at his arm.

The rest of the group of torch wielding men, pay more attention now as their hound has clearly caught something of interest.

"Hey!" The hound's master calls out, drawing a sword and taking a step forward to peer more closely into the darkness. "Back Pup, back.

"Who's out there?" He shouts, as another of his companions walks over to him, standing by his shoulder, the hound retreating a few steps, it's eyes never leaving Brevis.

OOC: Next round.
