Quarter 2, Hex V-28

You travel southwards from the bank of the Wash, making decent time. Harinder leads the way with the rest of you following. Eyrar keeping watch as you go.

Re: I.C. JOURNEY

A short while later you see a ruined cabin in the distance, it's roof half collapsed, ivy or some other creepers covering it's walls..

The remains of a low wall surround it, though they have crumbled to almost nothing, stones scattered around it's perimeter.

You can't sense anyone or anything inside, but enough of the walls are standing that they may conceal someone inside.

Group Stealth roll if you want to sneak up to it, or past.... Scouting roll if you want to check it out from a distance.

Brevis closes his eyes momentarily, considering their options regarding the ruined cabin.

His eyes open with calm clarity.

It will be advantageous to scout the cabin.  Any advantage we might have will be lost once we're spotted and alert can be given to the slavers.  Let's move together and make sure this place is truly abandoned.

In reply to Brevis (msg # 102):

Eyrer puts his hand on Brevis shoulder.

Sound advice from a sound soul. Let almighty Clay reward you with all good. I will have a look see if I can find any peril lingering about in the vicinity.

Eyrer then shifts his focus to the derilect cottage. Using all his senses he penetrates every nook of the buildings searcing for any sign of life.
Eyrer moves uncomfortably, sighs annoyed and whispers.

By the grace of the most high teachers...

He changes position and touches his forehead with two of his fingers ever so gently, refocusing his effort, feeling the preassure arise within his chest manifesting as a clear pearl of sweat next to his fingers.
Eyrer frowns.

This is a useless waist of time! Let us just go and see if there is anything there.

Re: I.C. JOURNEY

Having been lost in the maze of his own mind for most of the morning, chasing his inner muse and the inspiration she usually brings him, Caile has been ushered through events unresponsive, little more than a warm presence. Stirred from the inner depths by Eyrar's frustrated bark, he shakes off his stupor and looks about.

"I see nothing which seeks our immediate demise, master elf. Surely no one would inhabit such a dilapidated ruin? Let's move ahead. Grindbone awaits."

OOC: 20.23, Today: Caile failed (no successes) using 3d6 with the Target Number system with a target of 6 with rolls of 1,3,4.  Scouting.

Neither Brevis, Caile nor Eyrar can perceive anyone hiding in or around the ruins.

Do you take a detour around it, or carry on past the old building?

If something is buried in here like a hidden stone, it will waste too much time excavating it.  Perhaps if they don't want to be found, we should carefully press on and leave the natural order.

I vote to leave this detour.  We've no time to waste.

Eyrar's cursory survey of the ruins confirms there is little danger that could be hidden in the partly collapsed hut. The single room appears empty save for the wild shrubs and creepers that have now taken over.

Re: I.C. JOURNEY

You make good time, with no further distractions. The day draws on and night approaches...

OOC: Quarter 3, hex V-31. You need to eat/drink, roll your Food & Water Resource die please; any rolls of 1-2 then reduce that die one step. i.e. D8 becomes D6, a D6 to be reduced means you've had your last ration.

Enjoying a brief but satisfying meal, Brevis muses silently, "If I don't eat too much now, there will be enough for later!"

He begins to hum as he eats:

'Tis the gift to be simple, 'tis the gift to be free,
'Tis the gift to come down where I ought to be;
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.
When true simplicity is gained,
To bow and to bend we shan't be ashamed;
to turn, turn, will be my delight.
Till by turning, turning we come round right.

Eyrer joins Caile and Brevis for supper and enjoys Brevis song. He thanks Clay the wise for offering these simple bites to eat.

Is this fine song from you hometown? Who has tought you the words or are they your own? So full of wisedome from such a young soul. Puzzeling indeed.

In reply to Eyrar (msg # 115):

I once travelled to a small village of great spirit.  Men and women ruled as equals.  They sang and shook with great reverence.

For reasons unknown, those memories often return during such meals as this (holding up his hands) where we only eat what is required.  Simple yet delightful!

Brevis pauses

I hope this is not what is commonly known as the calm before the storm.  Surely, that valley is just beyond.

Dearest songbird, this place you must show me one day. It seems to me a place of hapiness. A place to cherish.
My guide in life, the great teacher Clay the wise proclaims: Tel adon kesha tel arrn. Because this must surely be the calm before the vengeful storm we will bring down on these illdoers.

Let me suggest that we rest for the night and then we make plans tomorrow for how to approach Grindbone.

Eyrer sits and pokes in the fire. Silent and thoughtful.

Re: I.C. JOURNEY

It's getting dark and you are considering setting camp for the night, when you (all) spot a light off in the distance. After a moment you see two, then three other lights following along in a line, then finally a fourth a short distance behind the others. It takes a moment or so to realise they are torches, burning in the distance...

They seem to be a mile or so away, judging by the lie of the land before you, they look to be south of your position and heading roughly south-westwards.
