OOC: Character Generation

We will be using the Legends character generation booklet in some form or another to generate characters.

As a side note to this, ORC and WOLFEN characters would be at a disadvantage when it comes to social interaction with humans, so please think carefully and talk it through with me & the group when it comes to these races.

When it comes to character background, you don't need to go into great detail, just a few bullet points on their youth, family and what they did before entering the Forbidden Lands.

At the moment I don't want anyone to generate any attributes, but to discuss character races and ideas for the group as a whole.

(moving content from FB thread)

I'd like to play Half Elf Sorcerer, Blood Magic.

However, if we have lots of people wanting to play sorcerer, then I'd be willing to switch to Peddler.

Okay, so far we have:

KINPROFESSION
HalflingRogue
HumanDruid
GoblinHunter
Half-ElfSorcerer
DwarfFighter

Next up, using the Legends booklet, I'd like you all to decide if you want to roll randomly for each event or to choose, but I'd like everyone to use the same method.

I have rolled already from the booklet, so my vote goes there.

I have to check details with the second printing though. My Druid have old age.

Where do I fill in the details? We should use the same template. If the forum doesnt have any other solution than a text field to edit I strongly suggest using google sheets. Let me know and I share the template with all the details.

I've just opened up the Character Sheet section for everyone, however, maybe use that one for starting calculations and notes and share the Google Drive pdf one so that we can have something that looks better.

If you can share the link and once we're all finished character generation we can each link to the sheets in a separate thread.

Yeah, if you can run through the Legends character generation system until you are happy with your character (in terms of their age young/adult/old) and post the results in the Character Details section. Once we're all agreed on our characters then we will move to a Google Sheet for ease of tracking stats, conditions etc..

Oh, by the way, I think we have a 5th player, from the FL forums.. Hopefully joining soon.

Sounds like a plan.

Once you've got your basic attributes sorted out we need to decide on a Dark Secret, which I'd like to keep as a secret for now.. can be one from the suggested secrets, or you can make up your own.

Same for Pride.

Based on your current character lineup, it looks like you need a Fighter, so I'd be happy to fill that role. A dwarf fighter would work for me, I would love to play an orc, but I understand if that's going complicate things.

If you put them on your sheet in the Character Details section - that's just for you and the GM..

Your Description is public, so when you're ready you can put some basic info about your character there that would be public knowledge, like their appearance and obviously personality traits, but just brief information is fine there.

Guys, we can all edit the google sheet, even at the same time. We just need to copy the template sheet for each character. I can do that.

It is like a "menu" in the bottom. With all your emails, I can invite you to edit it. Dave can also do it (and also invite). Cheers

In addition to these items, you are assumed

Knapsack is a different term for backpack.

Keep in mind that a lot of the weapons and armors in this are uncommon or scarcer in rarity, so unless you received the items from your background they would be hard to find at the local market. You can check an item's rarity in the gear lists at the end of the book, right before the tables for critical injuries.

In reply to Gorm (msg # 72):

great!  and as these are the forbidden lands, we may still one day meet Gorm paying his respects at the gravestone of a brave minstrel

Hey! I borrowed you that money when I was but a wee half-elf, scraping by before I got conscripted into the army. I'm coming to Runething to collect, just be glad that I ain't demanding interest! ;)

Re: OOC: Character Generation

Could we sum up a character descrption list here? I find it hard to follow exactly.

Harinder
- human male, old. A Druid and a drifter. A hermit. Have recently returned from Far Vivend to the village of Runething. He carries a quaterstaff, wears a dusty cloak, ragged long grey hair and some undefinefed beard.
- relationship: knows someone from Runething who wears the Trident slave brand, like himself.

Is it possible to add more information to "The Cast" tab?  If not, maybe we can add a new subject thread just for this so the info doesn't get buried.

Re: OOC: Character Generation

There's the Character Description section for each adventurer, which everyone can see.

I somehow find it more elegant to read it from the top post in a thread. But best would be some info text to the left of whoevers posting. But we cant have everything

Re: OOC: Character Generation

There is the Character Bio section. I think it's player edited, just a couple of lines where you could put Kin, profession and a few small bits of info. Or I can put up a thread for character relationships & bio.

Sorry it took so long to get back to this, I've haven't been on for a bit, but I replaced pain resistant with defender. It works better with my character background anyway.

Re: OOC: Character Generation

Are any characters particularly religious? Does anyone follow the teachings for Rust or Clay for example?

I do my very best to defy the teachings of Rust.  More than once I've sided with Ravens.  It is wise to appease The Nightwalker.

Re: OOC: Character Generation

I honor Wail, for it is on her winds that my songs are carried across the Ravenlands. I honor the Raven, for through the winds we are kin, and we travel far and wide carried by its currents. I honor Flow, for the wine and ale that brings merriment and refreshment to all kin. Where there is merriment, there is music, song and art.

In reply to Caile (msg # 85):

Lothar might be heard from time to time mixing the moon goddess Eor's name with some more colorful language, the kind of which usually gets him into trouble. Other than knowing the names and some of the stories Lothar never cared much for the gods as they sure haven't done much for him.

Re: OOC: Character Generation

Eins was taught as a child to honor the god Huge, but has been away for so long that he's not really religious anymore.
