10th of Ilcuk; Monsoon Season

Now that the poor woman is dead, the crowd seems to be more responsive, “I saw her come out of that alley.”

“Don’t be daft, she just appeared in the road, dark magic I tell you!”

“I don’t want to get involved, this place is bad enough without getting’ involved in cursed works like this.”

“She looks like Hyati’s girl, yeah?”

“Might be, ain’t she been missin’ for a bit?”

“Nah, couldn’t be, this one dug her way up through the ground. Hyati’s girl couldn’t do that.”

“Wait for the militia, I say. No need getting’ caught up in all of this.”

“Probably came out the back of the Last Mistake. Nothing good comes of that place.”

“Aye, dark goings on those back rooms.”

“You lot, are stirrin’ up troubles, bet she came from some of them tumbledowns, maybe even the ones the squatters have taken.”

In reply to GM (msg # 40):

He makes a mental note of each statement, and reports it back to his friends.  Discretely pointing when necessary at the person in the crowd who said each statement.

"Alright, let's check that alley. She couldn't have gone far after the ritual twisted her legs. If that doesn't bear out we can ask her family where she was when she disappeared." Sitra Mor will begin pushing through the crowd toward the alley that was mentioned.

Batri grunts his agreement but holds his hand out in front of Sitra to block his way, [Language unknown: “One hi at ailino, adatev.”]

He looks to the rest of his companions, “Follow me.  I’ll keep watch the rest of you look for clues.”  He leads the way down the alley, eyes open for an ambush.

Looking about... my perception is a +3 should you need to roll for me.

The torrential rain is making all of this much harder, the alley is choked with rubble and trash, dozens of little nooks and possible crawlways exist in between the buildings, debris piles and shattered remnants of other buildings.

Beuren has an epiphany on how to better communicate with the party.  This rain must be fogging my head.  Let's seek some cover.

Beuren heads off to find cover with the party in tow.

Your options are:

  • Attempt to enter someone's home.
  • Find shelter in one of the ruined buildings
  • Go back to the Last Mistake

Bueren agrees with and follows Speaks with Ghosts.  While keeping an eye to see if anyone from the crowd is watching/following them.

You make your way past ancient burned timber and rubble into the first floor of what must have been a shop of some sort. The top floors of the buildings next to it having crashed down into it.

While it does provide some cover from the downpour, the water has pooled up to about ankle height before finding freedom through holes in the walls.

The feel is reminiscent to being in a cave behind a waterfall, almost pleasant if not for the smell of mold and mildew.

Speaks With Ghosts looks around to determine if this is where the woman may have come from (long shot, I know).  Paying particular attention to the sides and tops of the holes in the wall, maybe there is some blood or hair that hasn't been washed away yet.  Probably more of an Investigation Check.
11:32, Today: Speaks With Ghosts rolled 19 using 1d20.  Investigation.

Batri takes the momentary reprieve in the rain to wipe some water from his face. “We can wander about all night in the rain if we want, but I doubt we will find anything.  I suggest we head back to the bar, have a drink, ask around for that Ava Maihri she was blabbering about and maybe even Hyati, whoever that is. Oh and otherwise play dumb.  I’m not one to attract the militia for asking too many questions.

The four of you head back to the Last Mistake, when you reach the street again, it appears that the militia has arrived wile you were searching the alleyway. Three militiamen stand near the corpse keeping the crowd away. The crowd itself, has thinned out now that the drama has played itself out. Two more people are approaching with a hand cart, several bodies are already stacked on it.

The mood in the Last Mistake has become much more somber, but the drinks still flow and the out of tune harpsichord still plays, if a bit less enthusiastically.

Most people are keeping to themselves and conversations are hushed. The supernatural implications of the corpse outside is settling in.
